I started out enjoying this series just for its cute factor. We're seven volumes in, and I feel like there hasn't been much progress in the story itself, nor much character development. It feels like the author is repeating the same events, but with a different skin, over and over again. Shimana, the landlord, and Zen feel like they're just spiraling in the same sequence, while the other characters, like Asahi, Ken, and the landlord's high school friend, all just watch from the background without any real input. This volume felt like it was going to pick up and have some real conflict when Taiga's father shows up, but then it just sort of sputters out. I'll admit, I was left wondering what was going to happen next, but also with the thought "at this point, do I care enough to keep going with this series?" I'll hang in there for at least the next volume, so perhaps the author will make volume 8 explode in some way.
