Good yarn to a degree that is…
Liked the reference to there being “Lifers” vs professional soldiers. I met a lot of the former, and just a few of the latter in the infantry before ETS in 1965. The night jump is suspicious, but a yarn no less. I made a copy of the poem Desiderata that is a good map for a good life…

Real War Real People, Warts and All
Ok so James Acre may not be the worlds greatest author and occasionally I suspect that he may have “gilded the lily” to help the narrative flow, but, and it’s a big but, I believe this book to contain more reality and a more accurate picture of this misguided piece of American History than many others that I have read.
Read it.

Good first-hand accounts
The author did a good job recollecting his accounts of the secret war. The US Army squandered its most talented unconventional field troops for conventional reasons. It's obvious that men like this, who if properly used and supported, could have ended the war with victory. Politicians lost the war. As on Afghanistan.

This is a realistic accounting of those who spent a lot of time in jungles surrounded by the enemy. They were the best of the best. I agree with the writer's assessment though that it was sometimes worse being in a large company of men crashing through the jungle with the enemy knowing where you are at all times because of the size of the unit.

Brought back a lot of hidden memories

Great read

Great Read!
I enjoyed this rare glimpse into what it was like to be in one of the most dangerous jobs during the Vietnam War. A truthful account of a very brave young man.

Excellent Book

Great book
Lots of action and fun to read seems like that war was not that long ago. Bless all the soldiers that did not return. Not a happy time for America.
