I loved this one. I have not read any other of the Wild Side stories so I was a Brighton virgin. Not any more. Firstly the cover is freakin' awesome and very much like what I expect Paddy to look like. The blurb explains everything well - Paddy is a wild guy who got himself in trouble gambling and now has to pay the piper. The only way he can do that is to be sold off as a slave for the money. He is taken to the Bears Den for training. Angus owns the Bears Dean.
Paddy goes through many adventures but the fact he is a natural top really makes any sort of bottom training excruciating for him. From golden showers to felching to etiquette to lots of fuckin' - he does it and experiences it all. Still he has an anger that cannot be tamed. The Sheik that wants to buy him wants someone still seething with anger, hatred, and dislike. The problem is with Paddy that comes with a temper that would sooner have him beat the guy up as anything else. The challenge is to train him NOT to react that way and to willingly submit even if he hates it.
I won't spoil the ending which is fuckin' great but I loved Angus and Paddy together - and that little bit and the sexual tension were so high I could not put this down once it hit its stride - which, BTW, it really doesn't do until about 30%. It still got five stars because I grew to care about these characters, to want for them, to feel the need and the frustration. Great world and I cannot wait to read more stories!

What a ride !
Brighton is one of the few writers that could be called a porn writer--since his books are so full of sex scenes--who still make me read one-handed (if you see what I mean).
If you don't hate stories in which the main character, a top, becomes a slave to pay his debts and save his mom's life, and is therefore forced to do things or get things done to him that he hates, you will love it.
Me, anyway, I loved Paddy McGuire and his story.

The raunchiest romance I've ever read.
Damn. Brighton writes some seriously nasty, hot stories. In order to appreciate, you need to check reality at the first page and just ride. A wild one at that. For a book that has as much sex as this one does it is a huge tease. Angus and Paddy are like two huge dogs circling each other. That circling was wicked hot, but torturous.
The reader needs to appreciate naturalism in their sex for this one to work. Straight up, get down and dirty sex. Every part of your body is amazing and want it kind of sex. Indelicate. And since I'm of the mind that sex better be worth getting hot and sweaty for--this suits me just fine.
Love both these filthy men. Perfect.

Warning that it does go though all the BDSM scenarios but it is fun and had some seriousness to it as well. I first read about Angus and Paddy in The Wild Side of Christmas and liked the dynamic of the two men. I was happy to learn more about how they met and how they became to be Master and slave.

First let me say that I wish we could give half star ratings because this was more than 3 but not quite 4 stars.
I had mixed feelings about this book in the beginning. Mainly because I kept assuming things were going to happen and they never did. When I finally settled into the book and realized I needed to stop making assuptions I started to enjoy the book. Unfortunately that didn't come until closer to then end. While it was frustrating to read because of the assuptions I made it also made it a great read by not being predictable. I think I'm going to have to go back and re-read this one so that I can thoroughly enjoy it to the fullest.
Thankfully all of my assumptions didn't distract from all the hot bdsm scenes throughout the book. I also wouldn't mind seeing a scene with Angus, Lachie and Paddy! I look forward to reading more in the Wild Side series. Maybe my wish will come true!

On the bright side, this book had every nasty thing I could think of. And I love the nasty, dirty stuff but there didn't seem to be much of a story that didn't include a shitload of sex. Like over the top sex using phrasing that didn't make the encounters sound all that hot when they really should have been. Like "shooting cum into his guts". Yeah, like that. The 3 stars is just because it was so raunchy and that's hard to find around here. Me likey!

Don't get me wrong! I LOVE the Wild Side and my fave person to meet in a dark alley at night would be PADDY, but I'm not sure if this had any bdsm. Pretty sure triad, tho. Hmm. ANYhow, a great book with cover-to-cover mm bump-&-GRIND! It's been awhile since I read it and thank goodness, it's TIME FOR A REREAD!!!

Sort of a prequel to the "Tales from the Wild Side."
Poor Paddy, he's backed himself in quite a corner with a huge gambling debt..and he can't pay it back. So he's forced to agree to sell himself off as a sex slave to repay the loan, and to save his mother. But Paddy's a top -- an aggressively sexual dominant who's a anal virgin -- and determined to stay that way, thanks. On his way to the Bear's Den, the slave training center, he meets Angus McLeod, the owner, and his eyes are opened. He'd never imagined that he would meet someone who's as much of a top as he is, or that he would feel so at home in a place!
At the Bear's Den, Paddy meets Lachlan, one of the resident Masters who offers to become a mentor for Paddy as he faces trying to manage his anger and aggression. While he welcomes Lachlan's help, it is the visits from McLeod that start to matter to Paddy -- he's discovering that emotional connections are becoming just as important to him as sex. I was in the mood for something that wasn’t touchy feely but just plain dirty and hot. I found it. For anyone who reads gay or m/m romance, understand that this isn’t it. This is erotica for gay men written by a gay man. It’s raunchy, perverted, graphic, and disgusting. And it was hotter than hell. No men professing feelings for each other, but more fucking and come than you could pack in a whole box of porn. Welcome to the Wild Side.
What I particularly liked was there was a real story here as well. Paddy McGuire is a toppy top who needs several men a day to sate his lust and refuses to bottom for anyone. Gambling debts force him to become a slave trainee, and he undergoes a complete education both as a submissive and as a dominant. All the details about BDSM were really well done. And I’m picky since I’m in the lifestyle. Paddy not only gains an education, however. He also gains a new perspective and a transformation of his character. There actually is a romance here. But again, nobody says those three words, “I love you.”
Be prepared for some scenes that may stretch your boundaries. Water sports, felching, snowballing, it’s all here. Yes, there’s a touch of dubious consent as well. But really nothing that bad. Mostly it’s a lot of hot, hot sex.

It started really good, truth to be told, but as it advanced there were elements that just didn't sit well. The characters were quite flat, the plot little lacking, the way the whole Paddy-ordeal was set to motion was a stretch of an imagination, specially as the author insists in calling Paddy a very intelligent person. Not like he couldn't be a genius solving complex math equations, but from every single word on the story what you've got was a really stupid person.
The supposed circumstances of his training, masters pro and against, the oh-so-predictable buyer from Middle East... I mean, really? Really? It was tremendously disappointing to read a novel where you just can't be made believe a single word of it. It all felt fake. The writer failed miserably in making me believe the story. The begining was a stretch, but as it voled, and the way Paddy's situation evolved... yeah, no.

The was an incredible love story. Yes, a love story filled with rough sex, voyeurism, multiple partners, whips, chains, ropes, and even a little water sports thrown in but a love story none the less.
Paddy's transformation is breathtaking. I was impressed with how Angus orchestrated everything into the ending that Paddy could never have seen coming.
I will read more of the Wild Side series. I'm going to go add a category on my bookshelves as a result of this series - it will be "read ASAP"!

Such an over the top, good fun, read. The author has a great sense of humour and I will never tire of reading about the exploits of Paddy. Quite rude and crude, but also hot and the fact that I ended up caring about these blokes and not just about reading about them having continuous sex (although that was great, too :) ) shows the author's skill and talent.

I enjoyed this book. Having read Tales from the Wild Side - Boot Camp Week. I did know what ultimately happened to Paddy but it was nice to read the events up to him becoming Angus' slave.

The Wild Side was a wild ride! VERY sexy and non stop. The characters were pretty great and the SL was good. I am just starting on this series and so far I'm very happy with the results. On to the next and I do recommend but only for those who don't mind less romance and more rough and wild sex!

Filthy, raunchy, wonderfully delicious. Much more story than I was expecting. Loved it. Loved both Paddy and Angus, and I hope both of them are at least side characters in the rest of the series. I want more Paddy.

I really loved the story line of this book. Some of the descriptive language was a little off for me so it took away from how much I enjoyed the story. I will however definitely be reading the rest of this series.

I enjoyed it, but I guess it just wasn't for me. I haven't read any other books in this series but maybe I will :) I liked the characters but I noticed that I sometimes skipped some pages...
