Loaded with training tips, anecdotes and race stories, join four-time 3100 mile race finisher Grahak Cunningham as he takes you on the journey from his first race in 2007 as a multiday novice to his ultimate victory in 2012, and discover what he learnt along the way in the world's longest ultra marathon.
I enjoyed this book a good deal and have read it cover to cover on two separate occasions.
Not a lot of books have been written about this sort of event so this fills a nice niche. The author writes in a very simple, straightforward manner completely lacking of the self-bravado which would have been understandable coming from somebody who has finished the race four times and who won it in 2012. Though it was intended, I believe, to be a sort of memoir I actually picked up several practical tips from Cunningham.
B Interesting story of what it takes to run the 3100 miles. He didn’t mince the pain. Explained a bit more about Sri Chinmoy, which I found interesting. Gave me some insight so I know a bit more about what it takes when I go to cheer him on next summer. I've been there, so I could really picture it - he did a good job of describing it.
