All About Eve

Rate this book
Dr. Eve Lovegood is an expert on relationships. Deemed the "Love Doctor" on a national radio show, she gives daily advice to all those baffled by the opposite sex. But none of her listeners would ever guess that her own painful marriage has left her bitter and disillusioned towards the institution. After all, who would take advice from someone who doesn't believe in love?

Jake Murphy has tried for years to be a success on his own—without the aid of his trust fund and despite the constant disapproval from his parents. He's proud his construction company is something that shows his real worth. When he hears a voice that sounds like sin and sex on his answering machine, begging for help with her crumbling historical home, Jake pushes Eve Lovegood's project to the top of the pile just so he can meet the woman who belongs to that voice.

Jake knows it's love at first sight, and that's hard for him to admit considering he's done his best to never get caught in the marriage trap, but softening Eve's heart is a challenge he never expected. She wants nothing to do with the man who shows so many similarities to her dead husband—a man she came to hate in the end. But Jake takes his love to new levels and romances Eve on her nightly radio show, ultimately making her fall in love with him in front of millions.

Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).

Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.

Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.

Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.

Enjoy the Adventures!

It was not my favorite Liliana Hart book, but it was cute and I read it in a day, so I can't really complain.

The characters were less interesting to me. I thought Eve was interesting, but for someone with so much personality her attitude in the relationship wasn't just reluctant but actually a little confusing and bordering on pathetic. Likewise, Jake was ok but just didn't do it for me. Lucy and Jake's grandma, however, made this book! I would read it again just for their sassy dialogue and antics.

The rest of the story was just underdeveloped for me. The bits about Eve's ex-husband and threats against her were interesting but resolved too easily. The bits about her show were interesting but never really developed their own plot line. The bits about Jake were underdeveloped as well. There was a lot more she could have down with the house and its role in the development of their relationship but it just didn't happen. There wasn't a driving force in this one to make it all come together. It was fun, though, and I struggled to put it down.

Eve is a Love doctor, she helps people with love and relationships. But doesn't believe in Love anymore after her disastrous first marriage. Jake owns a construction company with a partner, he listen to a message left by Eve to restore her Victorian house and moves her to his top of list so he can meet her. And when he does he falls in love with at first sight.
Eve tries resist his attentions but she melts for him. But she has doubts about him and doesn't trust him because she sees similarities between Jake and her dead husband. Jake is determined to win her heart and spend the rest of their lives together.

I love this book. It was so sweet, hot, and romantic, also had a thrill in there from a threat. And great humor, sharp wit and gotta love the banter. I absolutely love Jake's grandmother Ruth, she was a riot. I can't wait for more. Liliana Hart is an awesome author.

she was a love dr on the radio. he was a contractor. she called and left him a message, he came over the next day and work started the next day. (that would NEVER happen, lucky to get a call back at all let alone the next day and have work start so fast). they fell in love, got married and had a baby.

Liliana Hart's All About Eve gave me the much-desired break I needed from mysteries. It was a fast and fun read.

Dr. Eve Lovegood is a relationship guru. She's known as the "Love Doctor" on a national radio show, giving daily advice to all those confused by the opposite sex. But her listeners would never think that her own messed up marriage has made her bitter and disillusioned about marriage. Seriously, who would listen to advice from someone who doesn't believe in love? Jake Murphy has been hustling for years to make it on his own, no help from his trust fund or his disapproving parents. He's pumped that his construction company really shows how awesome he is. When he hears a sultry voice on his answering machine, begging for help with her falling-apart historical house, Jake moves Eve Lovegood's project to the front just to meet the woman who owns that voice. Jake's smitten with Eve, even though he's always been commitment-phobic. Winning her over is turning out to be tougher than he thought. She wants absolutely nothing to do with the guy who's so similar to her dead husband, someone she ended up hating. But Jake really goes all out and romances Eve on her radio show, making her fall in love with him in front of millions.

The writing is smart, telling an adorable story. I enjoyed this book so much. It's like a breath of fresh air to me.

A little too one sided. He has issues that are ignored to only focus on hers. Isn’t being 32 and thinking women are only good for “a quick roll in the hay” an issue? Yes his past should be a problem for her. They can’t leave the house without seeing a woman he’s been with. Really? That’s a sign he’s got a problem. Not a fan of a sexually repressed woman and the manwhore.

Enjoyable

Enjoyable book until second last chapter which then became a totally different book and characters with no relation to any part of the story. And then came the epilogue.good enough read but nit sure what happened in publishing.

Very short and not much there. I had an issue with the H and how fast he made his mind up, didn't really get it.

Everything happened way too fast. There was no interest in bringing an anonymous admirer to this plot.

Feels very dated and the use of answering machines with ”tape” and references to Shirley Temple and Kim Basinger is odd.

Really, I'm feeling more like 2.5 Stars on this one.... But, since I've now come to love all things Liliana Hart, I'm rounding up.

Cute story, just too underdeveloped. I just never felt connected to the characters or the location. And if I'm being brutally honest, it was rather choppy in its timeline. I just wasn't buying that this supposed suave, playboy, manscicle Jake Murphy, would instantly have love at first listen/ sight, then be shouting his undying forever love from the tallest mountain tops. Yeah... Not so much. And grandma Ruth was funny, but the side character shouldn't be the glue keeping this storyline together.

Anyway, it was enjoyable and entertaining for a few hours, so I appreciate that. Still LOVE your work Ms. Hart.

Never was really able to take the heroine seriously - and she was intended to be a serious character doing serious work. Dr. Eve Lovegood. Really? Dr. Eve Lovegood? So it was boring, boring, boring as two pieces of white bread dance around heir lusty feels and emotional scars and then the hero does his obligatory unthinkable and it became annoying, annoying, annoying. So the hero knows heroine is emotionally damaged. It’s part of what appeals. So when she sees the hero in an intimate embrace, she reacts as expected, realizes her mistake, apologizes, shares her love and the hero says tough titties, that’s not good enough, I want trust and nothing else matters, and he walks out on her. Give me a freaking break you stupid jerk. But then again, her name is Dr. Eve Lovegood.

I think this was a backlist title or a work that was written earlier. The 'head hopping' drove me crazy, but I was still able to enjoy the book. Great characters, but you definitely got to see what everyone was thinking, whether they were the POV character or not. I don't see any of these issues with her series work which I highly recommend.

This was a quick and easy read. Liliana Hart is a good writer, and if you're looking for some light romantic reading, this is a good one to pick up. My main complaint was that the whole story line seemed a bit rushed to me, and the "suspense" part seemed unnecessary.

I must be honest and say I was disappointed with this text. I loved the McKenzie series and expected the same from all about eve but it fell short for me. It had some tapping holes in the storyline which I was desperate to be filled. I guess I just wanted mire richness to the tale.

This is a cute stand alone read and it's a pretty quick read. I love this author because even though it's not her typical write such as murder mystery. She still can write a book that is different and something you can't put down until you know what happens...

I'm shocked that this is the same author that writes the Addison Holmes and JJ Graves series, because this book is terrible. The dialogue is childish, the editing is bad, and don't get me started on the story line. I made it 1/3 of the way thru before I gave up.

Sadly, this book was disjointed and predictable--like so many run-of-the-mill romance novels. Having read the J.J. Graves and Addison Holmes series, I was very disappointed by this book.
