The Curvy Sister

Rate this book
Curvy girl Cassidy Blue had her heart broken when she caught her fiance and her younger sister together. Despite the scandalous nature of their relationship, the town has chosen to pretend Cassidy never happened - well, everyone except Cassidy of course.

Cassidy becomes untethered as she faces the impending nuptials, losing her grandmother's home to her sister who will inherit it after the wedding, a mother who can't choose between her daughters, and a town of romantics dead set on embracing the wedding even as it destroys Cassidy's heart.

Cass finds distraction from her anger in an unlikely place - the arms of her ex-fiance's older brother, Jason King. Home for a few weeks from his city-boy, New York investor life, he quiets her mind by satisfying her body. For Cass, he's the perfect salve to heal her wounds. He's temporary and insatiable and seems to want a plus-sized girl like Cassidy as much as she needs his strength. He can't hurt her if all she wants from him is sex.

But as they grow closer, temporary may not prove long enough.

Welp, I just gotta say this wasn't my cuppa.

I liked the premise, liked the writing, liked the heroine, HATED her family and the hero is not going on my adored H list at any time before the heat death of the universe.

I cannot fathom the depth of the familial betrayal being rewarded here. And it WAS! There was no justice at all because the h's entire family betrayed her and because she was of a different body type, she had to suck up the sewage they kept pouring down her throat.

I can only wonder that the hero actually pays the cheating coprophagic nematode, (who did not actually own the place yet,) for possession of the house that was in dispute. Why didn't he just whisk the heroine off to Vegas and marry her, thus ensuring she got to keep her home?

I also cannot understand why the supposed hero belittled the h's sense of outrage and betrayal and basically told her to 'get over it and move on' - I guess the h was supposed to be so overwhelmed by his underdeveloped manly heroism that being with him was supposed to make up for the familial cesspool she had to fight her way out of.

The h's family should have all died by tornado driven toilet seats to the head. The hero should have been right there to deliver some grand karmic justice in the form of an elopement to save the h's home and a real man would have encouraged the h by saying that the family you make is the only kind that counts and the rest can go fall into the nearest sub-sewer system.

The heroine and the hero also should have written the h's family off permanently, as the only positive attributes they had was how to show others not be and the h should have told them off as not being family, but the unfortunate gene pool of toxic sewage she had to climb out of to overcome.

I honestly felt that this story subtly emphasized that because the h was a larger body size, she had to tolerate second class and degrading behavior from others. That doesn't show a positive body image development, that shows that the h just has to tolerate a bunch of slime swiller's snot pustule droppings because she is different - and the hero seemed to convey that too.

He was great about the physical and extremely lacking in the things a true partner and lover should be--supportive, ego boosting and a personal cheering section and shield when the heroine is exposed to the disrespect and abuse by others.

Why these two would even live in this place after the whole sludgefest that went down is beyond me.

Unless the hero manages to man up and find his cajones to run the cheating slime sewage duo out of town and demand the heroine's parents sincerely apologize for their continual degradation of the supposed love of life, this place and this ending isn't a walk into the HEA rosy sunset, it is the epitome of hell in romancelandia and I just wasn't enjoying it or feelin' the love here.

No! NO! NO! NO! NO!

What was the message? No matter how manure worthy your family is they’re family and you’re stuck with them?

Well too effing bad.

The h’s sister and H’s brother DESERVED shunning. The H probably WOULD have done that if it wasn’t for the author being a pansy. HATED the h’s mum. Loving your daughter does NOT mean supporting her wrong doings or finding her cheating romantic. H’s brother WAS malicious, I don’t know why he thought he wasn’t.

The way the h found them, and the fact they carried on, and then NEVER apologised only shows that they’re BOTH malicious AND entitled POS. The only way this book would have been a hit IF

1) the sister was proven wrong and the brother cheated on her
2) if the brother wanted the h back
AND
3) if the H kidnapped the h and flew to Vegas for a quick wedding before the sister so the h could inherit.

The ending and resolution was UNACCEPTABLE.

(Vintage I am sorry, let’s agree to disagree and no hard feelings?)

Wow, color me surprised. I was expecting a NA soft-core romance, and I got a surprisingly well done hard hitting romance. And KU!

I asked for a cheating book where the heroine does not get back with the cheater and I got it, so thank you Rebecca.

The heroine found her fiancee and her nightmare little sister in flagrante so her engagement is off and their wedding is coming up. To make matters worse, the h will lose her beloved grandmother's house as her sister will get it as she's marrying first. Double whammy: lost fiancee and lost home.

Enter the hunky alpha hunk of an older brother so yes, ick, there is sibling to sibling cross over, but I put it aside. The H is a tougher guy than his wimpy, cheating little brother and he has the hots for the curvy, zaftig heroine. I liked the fact that he makes no bones about his attraction to the heroine, extra curves and all, but it also isn't beaten into the ground and there isn't the cheap attack that skinny chicks are shallow chicks. He's a great hero, and there were times when the heroine's emotional walls were a little irritating.

The heroine handles the betrayal/engagement better than most fictional characters and runs the gamut from violent rage to eh, you can have him. What did not ring true was some of the townspeople and friends and their reaction to the h and H's relationship, but it was a minor infraction.

Hmmm. The story felt a little off due to the fact that the h caught her sister and fiance doing the deed. They are both cheaters! And no one seems to care. Now the sister is just taking over the wedding date, venue, groom and making them hers. The family (both bride AND groom), townspeople, no one has a problem with this? And the h is expected to just sit there and eat sh!t and show up at the wedding with a smile on her face?

The romance was ok, the H was great, she obviously got the better brother in the end. But I was too distracted by the details. Like what's it going to be like over Thanksgiving dinner? Are you going to let your kids to go their aunt and uncle house and play? The h's sister was just a jealous and spoiled brat. I think they deserved each other. I didn't like how it all ended with forgiveness all around. That kind of betrayal would takes a very long time to come to terms with. I can see a cordial relationship but to ever regain trust? Hmmm.

Wished there was more ending to this. The characters in the novel were fucked up, especially Bailey and Jonathon. I wanted to smack her Mother too. Great read though.

This book basically condoned the heroine being emotionally and mentally abused by her family and ex fiancée, and I am not down with that. I did like the heroine and hero together though.

Okay, let's start with the things I didn't like:

- the titel of the novel
Is it really necessary to reduce the girl to the size of her ass?

- too much sex scenes
This is a novella with ~100 pages and we have ~ 6 maybe 7 sex scenes. That was too much for these few pages.

- the family
Holly hell. I hated them. Cassidy caught her fiance and her sister having an affair behind her back and everyone is okay with the sister marrying the guy. Everybody thinks that Cassidy should get over it. The sister was a mean bitch and the fiance... what an ASSHOLE!

What I liked:

Cassidy was a great girl who had too much self-esteem problems but I liked her. She had a big heart and I get why she reacts the way she does. But that doesn't change the fact that I would have done it completely differently.

Jason, her ex-fiance's brother. What a great guy that ist. This dude is book boyfriend material and he deserves a medal for dealing with Cass, his brother and his family all at once.

This is a solid novella which is a little bit too short. There's no epilogue but the story really needed one.

Just ok

Cassidy a BBW caught her ex-fiance having sex with her sister. I do not know why the reference of Bailey being small and Cassidy being BBW kept coming up because it really didn't go with the story. It wasn't the reason Jonathan cheated with Bailey so why bring it up constantly.

Cassidy at least finds her HEA with Jason who is the exes older brother. Small world I guess.

Think I would have been less forgiving especially with everyone saying in so many words get over it.

This was a cute short story. I like it, couldn't stand her sister and her family the way they treated her but it was a happy ending at the end.

This was really - surprisingly - good for such a short story. I LOVED the H and h so much and the ending was so darn cute. I was slightly frustrated when Cassidy started pushing Jason away to "protect her heart" (which is one of my romance pet peeves), but it didn't last long. Oh and Bailey the Bitch did not deserve forgiveness.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

After finding her sister and fiancee naked, Cassidy Blue held her head up high and went on with her life. However everyone else around her pretended nothing happened and now they are celebrating her sister and ex-fiancee's nuptials to be. Cassidy though has had it with another dagger shot her way she retaliates only to be pulled aside by her ex-fiancees older brother Jason King. Jason had quite the reputation before he left town years ago and created a life in New York. Jason provides a pleasant diversion but Cassidy has made it clear it's sex and only sex. Jason however is playing for keeps.

This one I was a bit confused about. I cannot believe her sister and did not feel like it was fair to Cassidy the treatment after the betrayal. Jason you don't get a chance to really see what he is feeling for Cassidy as it is from her perspective. Entertaining but wished it had filled in the gaps a bit more.

I really really didn't like this. Loved the idea... but the execution? Nahhh.

1. Cassidy should've had nothing to do with her family. I think they were incredibly selfish.
2. Bailey and Jonathan... wankers.
3. I did like Jason.
4. Why oh why did Cassidy put up with all that shit?
5. Why did she bother?
6. Cassidy's mother? Get a clue...
7. Still liked Jason.
8. Why? Just... why?

All of the supporting characters were the worst. They were all horrible. I hated Cassidy's sister and ex-fiance. She was the definition of a spoiled rotten brat. I cannot believe no one had slapped any sense into her. Even her mom was terrible.

An easy, short story. I wish the author gave more to the characters and emotions. I expect more from someone whose fiancee cheated on her own sister. I feel flat through the end.

I literally HATE this story so far! I hate that the FMC’s entire family is trying to make her feel bad that she isn’t getting over being betrayed by ALL OF THEM! I’m only 37% in and her mother is seriously telling her to think of the position she is in if she has to choose between her daughters and therefore miss out on a life time experience of seeing ONE her daughter’s getting married. But I can’t understand how this has ANYTHING to do with the FMC and her righteous anger at the fact that her sister stole her fiancé, her wedding date and all the details including the same venue, and her house! This is beyond tacky btw!

The FMC’s mother could have at least changed the wedding date if not the venue, “since it was already paid for”. The venue only cares about the money, the date could have been moved. Since everyone else’s feelings are more important than the betrayed FMC, couldn’t they have at least done that ONE F#€king thing?!? I’m not understanding how the FMC hasn’t cut off all these disrespectful people from her life! It’s disgusting that because a wedding, literally any wedding, is more important than trying to work out the drama the trashy sister brought on everyone with her decision to go after an engaged man.

The audacity of these vile characters is super strong and I’m choking on it. There is so much hate I want to spill on this book right now that I can’t get it out. This author is good at giving the reader a rage read if this is what you look for in your stories. I do not. Ugh.

I also don’t get how the sister is getting the house yet. I’m still waiting to figure that out.

FINAL UPDATE

This was a terrible story! I hated every single character besides the FMC and the MMC. Everyone else was shady AF. Let me break this down. The FMC was cheated on by the ex fiancé and her little sister. The little sister is a complete selfish narcissist who only cares about her own wants and desires but is always disparaging the FMC at every conversation. The FMC is rightfully pissed that everyone expects her to “get over it” and act like nothing wrong happened. The gut punch of discovering the betrayal doesn’t happen on page either. All we get is the aftermath loaded with angst that I really don’t feel the FMC ever got over.

The MMC comes along and they start an FWB situation during the middle of all this melodrama and during all their sexcapes they fall in love. I really didn’t see any of this happen on page. Time passes and it’s always with them having s e x but nothing else. This book is primarily focused on the FMC being downtrodden by everyone and everything. This couples relationship premise was based on “to get over someone, you should get under someone else”. Not a romance to me.

We never get the MMC’s POV on whether he loved the FMC from jump or when it became more for him. Just nothing. Not only that, the shystiness of the little sister and her now fiancé and the MMC stealing then selling the FMC’s house between them was so ridiculous and a clear money grab that I have no respect for any of them! Not that I had any to begin with. The book one minute says the ex fiancé wants to be a farmer but then is later moving into the city with his selfish narcissistic bride. So I couldn’t get a grasp on whether he fell in love with someone and he couldn’t help it or was he always a sneaky POS? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then this book ends abruptly with the sisters being sisterly and the wedding that should have burned down with this entire town with it, happening despite a tornado almost k!lling them! While the FMC lives happily ever after with her rich boy toy, because that’s all the MMC was in this book. Or we are left to assume that’s what happens.

So NO, I didn’t like this book. A lot did not play out well to make it plausible, let alone believable. NO, I don’t believe the MMC will be happy in the town that is lacking in New York energy when that’s what he wants in life. NO, I will not read another story by this author, as this was my first book by her and it turned out a poor frustrating showing. I gave it one star as it was the lowest I could go. It may be good enough for someone else but as none of the dynamics worked, it and this author are now a hard pass for me. Good luck.

Nooooo..
What the hell was the message in this story? That evil will be rewarded. There should have been REAL consequences and NOT JUST THE WEDDING RUINED..

How dare h's cheating ex sell the house that was not even his?

How could the evil manipulative sister and the ex who cheated on the heroine with her bitch of a sister got forgiven. They should have suffered. I feel that sister will try to steal hero from heroine like she stole her ex from him. She is a bitch and didnt want the heroine to have any connection with KINGS and be happy.

Really bad message! All the supporting characters were weak and moral less. We should have been shown some compassion for the heroine by them but no one did.

It's 3 am and I'm delusional for giving this 4 stars but I really liked it. Like damn bro. That shit was wild. Sometimes I didn't like:

- fuck the sister. Ik the author tried to redeem the sister with "listen I didn't mean to fall in love with ur fiance and fuck him in front of u until we finished cumming, but it just....happened that way lol. yuno how it goes" and then the MC forgave her. bRO WHAT THE FUCK
- IT NEEDED TO BE LONGER !!!! I want to see them married. I want to see people talk.
- Jason the ML seemed very 2 dimensional but I'd smash so it's ok

Ok that's all I have at 3 am goodnifht maybe I can finally sleep and not find another book to read

Adios 🌊

h was engaged. Fiancé cheats with h's sister.
h receives invitation to ex and sister's wedding... same date, venue and decorations she had decided... she goes nuts and destroys ex's car. The H (ex's brother) calms her and bring her home. They have s*x and they start a secret relationship.

The Curvy Sister By: Jordan Bell
"The Curvy Sister" drops you into loss & betrayal so shattering you feel yourself breaking with the heroine; then, she's building connections so HOT they're melting your Kindle... It's definitely one Wild Ride inside Jordan Bell's "The Curvy Sister."
It's absolutely worth borrowing "The Curvy Sister" via KU, like I did, or purchasing it for your library to read over & over again!!
Until next time... Happy Reading!

Atrocious grammar !!!!!!!

It is difficult to say if I liked this book because I spent half of the time having to re-read sentences in order to glean their meaning. Ms. Bell apparently slept through the grade school lessons on homonyns. When I have to change bored to board and piece to peace, I lose track of the storyline. Having an abundance of steamy sex scenes can not replace a well written story. I see a glimmer of talent hidden beneath the substandard grammar but, I will avoid this author from now on.

If I had stopped reading after about 85%, this novela would have 5 stars, but I didn't so I give it 3,5.
I liked the style - and the characters. At first At first the characters seemed a bit clishee, but closer to the end the development got better!
I wished - at about 85% - the author had decided to head for a novel, to write a slower HEA-ending. Unfortunately, the ending was taken to the extreme...

A great quick read. Jason’s brother was engaged to Cass, but dropped her for her younger sister. Cass took a bat to her ex-fiancé truck and Jason is the one that stopped her and he also paid for the repairs. I feel her sister and ex were childish along with a lot of the town including her mom for thinking replacing Cass with Bailey in all the wedding plans, who does that but it all ended with Cass getting the real man.
