It's was a trip of a lifetime for Chime Sai and her fiancé. As they sailed across the globe to celebrate their engagement. News of the power duo’s courtship had sent shockwaves throughout Myanmar. Unfortunately the celebration took a grim and fatal turn when their sailboat was found adrift. And Chime’s lifeless body was discovered within.
As the news of her death reached Myanmar's shores. The Honolulu headquarters is on edge, under mounting international pressure to solve the case as quickly as possible. After months of dead ends and Chime's fiancé still missing, FBI agent Bella Walker is finally assigned to the case.
Who would want to kill the beloved First Daughter of Myanmar? As the case takes multiple unexpected turns, Bella finds herself questioning everyone around her.
Foreign affairs, a missing billionaire heir, and a trail of bodies connected to the unstable nation. The truth of this case will have consequences. One that could create a ripple of bloodshed across the globe.
This is the second book in a series of 3 set in Hawaii with Bella Walker the FBI agent working on the crime. It is an interesting tale which begins when Chime Sai, the first daughter of Myanmar and her fiance are accosted on the coast of Oahu. The story is fast paced and involves the politics of the unstable government of Myanmar. There is a lot of action. Actually, too much action for my taste. A lot of the book is devoted to "shoot 'em up" scenes with a lot of gun play, etc. Those types of scenes are fun in a movie. But, I find them boring in a book where one can easily guess the outcome. I would have liked more plot development. However, I read to the book while on a trip to Oahu and enjoyed the descriptions of the the Hawaiian scenery. Overall, a fast paced, fast to read book set in a lovely location.
Another great book by A.J. Rivers! This is the second book in the Bella Walker series, and it was an exciting read. Bella is put in charge of the Jade Princess Case, in which the princess Chime Sai is murdered while on a cruise celebrating her engagement, and her fiancee is missing. Once again Bella finds herself in jungles and caves and she and her team run into many obstacles. I found myself reading while I had a map of the area pulled up on my phone so I could spot some of the interesting landmarks they mentioned in the book. It was truly a wonderful reading experience. I highly recommend any book by A. J. as they have all been terrific. I have been doing ARC reading for her since she started writing, and I look forward to each new book. My review is my honest opinion.
An intriguing thriller in which Hawaiian FBI and other agencies work together to search for rogue bad guys, trekking through dangerous jungle terrain that poses as great a risk as ambush by those they are hunting. Relationships among the FBI team continue to develop in this second novel in this series. While the case closes with the good guys winning, there are a couple of questions left hanging - what about the one that (maybe) got away? And whatever happened to the agent that was taken hostage? Stay tuned for Bella Walker FBI Mystery Series Book 3!
Even though I loved the story, I missed Justin & Thor … wish we had seen or heard from them more than we did … very disappointed there will only be one more Bella Walker story … we get so involved with these characters which I believe is one of the best compliments a writer can get … please reconsider even if it’s just short stories … thank you for taking me on another journey with Bella!
If you work closely with the same people day in and day out you’re not going to constantly use their title to address them. Maybe the boss, in a formal setting or in front of the criminals but in normal day to day life you’ll use their first name. This bugged me throughout this book.
When you start thinking ahead and believe you have it solved and find out you're behind the eight ball. So many moves from good guy to bad guys or should I say girl. Rough time keeping on track in this story. Really great writing to keep you thinking. Great read. Anyone who likes a good mystery will not put this down.
This is another great addition to Bella's series. The location is perfect, and the story is interesting. The search for the monsters that Bella and her colleagues are after is exciting. For the most part, the case is wrapped up, but I still wish the missing agent and Sasha Conan had been found. Bella is a great character and I look forward to her next book.
Special Agent Bella Walker’s new home in Hawaii leads her right into another contentious case full of political intrigue and dangerous fiends. Without the help of her trusty Justin (he’s at home dog-sitting Thor) Bella’s team fights the terrain and the bad guys. Another well-written, deeply entrenched story! Thanks A.J.!
This was a outstanding story with Bella and team searching for who killed a presidents daughter at sea. They was lots of suspense and action with Bella in the thick of things risking her life to get the people put away. Thank you very much for this wonderful story.
This book was a great read. I couldn't seem to put it down. The twists and turns will definitely hold your attention. Can't wait for the next Bella Walker mystery. Highly recommend.
I’ve been reading this series out of order, and jumped back to number two. A bit disappointed, as this one isn’t as well written as later books. This one has quite a few mechanical errors (typos, perhaps), and several spots where descriptions are too drawn out and boring.
When the Jade Princess is found dead on a sailing boat off the coast of Hawaii and her fiance is missing, it's up to FBI Agent Bella Walker and her team to find out what happened. With a web of players far bigger than they imagined, can they get to the bottom of it?
What a bunch of twists and turns this story has! Just when I thought I figured it out, another twist came along. Tension-filled action and descriptions of the beautiful scenery abound. Well worth the read!
I really enjoy the Hawaiian Islands location and Bella is a great character -- but I cannot stand her "frenemy" Rachel. The jealousy she has toward Bella just grates! I will read book #3 just to see how Bella fares, but Rachel is a totally obnoxious character.
Wow I did not expect the series to get so exciting with the new characters. I was wrong. I love Bella and her escapades in high profile cases. Very emotional plot , brutal murders and fast paced actions make this book excellent. Don't miss it! Bravo.
I can't get into this series. I tried. The writing is ok. But it jumps around alot. Leaves alot of stuff out. This is my second book I've read by them. Not sure I'll read the rest. Good plots are good.
This is a great storyline! Exciting, with surprises and many twists and turns. The characters were great. L I ved everyone of them. I recommend this book to everyone. You will enjoy it!
This is another good story by AJ and T. York. The story kept moving at a fast pace. I don't know how close this is to real FBI life, but prob not but it was still interesting. I will keep reading all the books by A.J because I haven't found a book I didn't like.
A bit better than the 1st book in this series but still disappointing especially compared to the author's other series. Characters seem juvenile, plot holes and gaps.
