To Justin Norton, an impending blizzard is the perfect time to push the limits. The last thing he expects to encounter on the trail is a dazed woman next to her overturned snowmobile--especially since that woman is his former lover Kylie Fisher, the bartender he’s been slowly rebuilding a friendship with over a shared love of basketball and lager. He's had some pretty kinky fantasies about her and now that they're alone, he's having a hard time keeping his hands off. But she's weak and hurting...isn't she?
Walking in on her long-term boyfriend with three naked women isn’t the way Kylie intended to celebrate the holidays. Flying on fury, she recklessly hits the trail on her brand new snowmobile. Luckily Justin, her seemingly easygoing knight in flannel and denim, saves her from herself, but does he have the moves to back up the sexy looks he’s flung her way for months? Because if he can’t make her melt, she’s damn sure going to find a man who can. But is she really ready for everything that comes with Justin Norton?
USA Today bestselling author Cari Quinn grew up wanting to be a singer more than anything else. When she realized she probably wouldn’t be hired as the opening act for the Foo Fighters, she stopped singing and started writing. Now she happily writes about rock stars, MMA fighters, suited heroes, bodyguards and everything in between. And she blasts her music as loud as the neighbors can stand, because hey, she’ll always be a rock star in her own head.
She's also half of the duo Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott, as well as one half of the USA Today bestselling author Taryn Quinn, who writes steamy small town romantic comedies (among other things.)
Saving Kylie was previously published as MELT by Cari Quinn and has been lightly re-edited, since I hadn't read the previous book I couldn't tell you what changes were made but what I can tell you is that this was a fun second-chance, friends-to-lovers romance that was very steamy so you probably wouldn't want to be reading this book while on public transportation.
Justin saves Kylie from more that just an overturned snowmobile that night and she saves him right back. I loved not only the chemistry between the two but the friendship. Justin has a past that makes it hard for him to believe in certain things but Kylie is the perfect person to help him navigate his way through the storm.
Saving Kylie by Taryn Quinn is a re-release of a previous story re-imagined and edited to fit into their Turnbull/Crescent Cove series. This second chance, friends-to-lovers stories features a couple who had one night in college before the heroine got serious with a long term boyfriend. Reunited 6 months prior when he walks into a bar where she is bartending, they’ve become friends again until a fateful night and a snowmobile accident changes everything between them.
I enjoyed this story, but considering the baggage both of these two characters had I would have liked more time seeing them work through their issues. I did appreciate they acknowledged them and planned to do it, but seeing them actually doing the work would have been preferable to me.
There was no doubting the chemistry between Kylie and Justin and I loved that Kylie was not shy about her sexuality or sexual wants and needs. I think they both has some misconceptions about one another, but soon learned that it was time to get to know one another as the people they are today.
This book had a lot of sexy times, with some light BDSM elements, but nothing over the top.
Steamy and emotional, Saving Kylie was an engaging and entertaining story.
Justin and Kylie had one night back in college, then she went her separate way and drifted from him. He walked into her bar months ago, though, and now they're bonafide friends. Now she's calling him, needing help, and Justin's just the man to help her. Will she help herself right into his bed? Is he the right man to meet, and equal her desires in the bedroom?
Kylie once had a crush on her friend, Justin, one that she thought she was over. But when she calls needing his help bailing her out of the snowmobile accident she's just had, she doesn't realize that crush is still there. Only this time, in the close confines of his cabin, while snowed in, the attraction between them will play out in the very best kind of ways - hot and steamy with a little kink thrown in to boot. Kylie thinks her voracious desires will throw Justin off, but little does she know that Justin's appetites are equal or even bigger, than hers. The two really are perfect for each other. And will be an amazing couple once she gets past her issues, and he gets out of his own way. Will they ever be on the same page?
I loved Justin's sweet but down and dirty personality, and Kylie's independence and strength. They definitely had their issues to work through, and they did it with communication and a minimum of angst. Their chemistry was positively fire, and they fit together the way only true friends are able.

Wow! I hope there are more stories coming from Turnbull, NY. Justin and Kylie's story really hit the spot for an enjoyable read. It had all the second chance (even though years later), at finding they were meant to be together. There were moments for spanking prior to and during sex that some might call a trigger.
3.75 stars--SAVING KYLIE by Taryn Quinn is the release and re-edited edition of Cari Quinn’s 2013 erotica novella MELT.
Told from dual third person perspective (Justine and Kylie) SAVING KYLIE (set in the authors’ Crescent Cover world) follows the rekindling romance between college friends and one time lovers, teacher Justin Norton, and journalist/bar tender Kylie Fisher. Days before the American Thanksgiving, Justin gets an urgent message from his college sweetheart, Kylie Fisher, who has been injured in a snowmobile accident. Rescuing the woman with whom he will fall in love, Justin spends two glorious days, snowbound with Kylie Fisher, only to struggle with his attraction and need for a woman whose own sexual needs are much stronger than his own.
Kylie Fisher just ended a long term relationship with her recent boyfriend, a relationship predicated on sexual needs and kinky urges but Kylie had refused to cross a line, and in this found herself wanting something more from our story line hero. Justin Norton grew up in an abusive household, and in this, Justin struggles with his rapidly growing relationship with our story line heroine, a relationship wherein Kylie needs more than Justin is able to offer.
The relationship between Justin and Kylie is highly sexual, spicy and erotic, and in this the common denominator is the sexual tension, chemistry, and fear of pushing one another too far. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense.
SAVING KYLIE is a story of second chances; of a rekindling romance between one-time college lovers who reconnected months earlier but our heroine remained faithful to her long-time boyfriend. The premise is striking; the romance is seductive; the characters are broken, edgy and animated.
This one was sexy and hot enough to melt the snow that was falling! Kylie ran from her boyfriend and on her way to Justin's she wrecked her snowmobile. Luckily he found her before hypothermia set in and even though she had quite a few bumps and bruises and a twisted ankle they snuggled into his cabin (and I do mean snuggled). This is a friends to lover/second chance/hot and steamy romance you will not want to read anywhere but safely at home. Safe to say these two have issues of their own but at least they have a friendship as a good base and WHOA do these two burn it up. It would be interesting to see what happens a few months down the road...especially since Kylie moved to Crescent Cove (ahem) and we all know what happens there...
There is a bit of back and forth after long-held feelings are allowed out. Neither Kylie or Justin are really prepared for what happens after they cross the friendship line again, especially after their very vanilla first time. I really like that they do try to communicate a lot, even when they are not completely successful and they try to be friends. Some parts are sweet, some parts are sweaty—beautifully sweaty.
This was not what I expected. I wasn't quite sure I was really reading a Cari Quinn story at first, because it started out as a fuck fest. A well-written, steamy fuck fest, but a fuck fest. We usually learn a bit about the characters first before they jump into bed, but as the story went on, it was like peeling an onion. A hint here, a flashback there, a fleeting emotion, another layer revealed... and we learn that both of these characters have deep-seated issues, yet a history that allows them to completely trust each other. And it allows them to fan the flame of an ember that burned so long ago and still burns, against all odds.
As is typical with a Cari Quinn story, she made me really care about the characters. I felt so bad for both of them at different points during the story, and she was able to bring everything around to a happy ending without it feeling unlikely or rushed. Because it almost looked for a while like a happy ending was not in the cards. Thankfully, I got the HEA I love so much. Technically, I suppose it was a HFN, but there was great potential for them to have an incredible life together.
And can I say how much I love normal people in stories? He was a high school guidance counselor. She was a bartender. Nobody was stinking rich, yet it was still a great story.
ETA: Just to expound on the "fuck fest"... I suppose they didn't technically jump into bed quickly. He did take her to the emergency room, and I'm pretty sure she'd taken a nap before they got to it, but all that happens pretty quickly in terms of the story, so it felt like it was really fast.
It's pretty known by now that I adore Cari Quinn's writing and when I adore an author's writing I want to read everything they've written. I've fallen a bit behind with Cari's and hadn't gotten around to reading MELT yet. Inevitably the authors Iadore have also written a book or two that don't quite work for me the way most of their work does and with Cari Quinn it was MELT.
The love story between Kylie and Justin just didn't work for me despite it being a friends-to-lovers story, which is one of my favorite tropes. The way it started with Justin thinking Kylie still had a boyfriend and yet still having sex with her, and Kylie not clueing him in beforehand just didn't fly with me. And this kept bothering me thoughout the rest of the book, even after everything was out in the open.
Admittedly, it was a super hot book with lots of sexy sexy times that set the pages on fire and I really liked those scenes and I loved the ending. However, it didn't leave me emotionally satisfied in the end (I didn't shed one tear) and that IS what I always get from Ms. Quinn's books. And it's a requirement for my erotic romance favorites. I need an emotion-filled romance next to the expliciteness and that's just what I didn't get from this story.
So I consider this book the exception to the "I love everything Cari Quinn writes"-rule and can't wait to start the next Quinn book that's on my TBR.
After a one night stand in college, Justin and Kylie have reconnected platonically as adults. When circumstances put them together and provide opportunities for them to rekindle both the sexual and emotional feelings between them, can they get past their own hang ups to make it work?
I liked these two characters.Kylie isn't a push over, even though Justin is a little messed up in the head. They do manage to burn up the sheets, but Justin basically can't disassociate what Kylie needs in the bedroom with his own past. Eventually, he screws everything up, and hearts break.
This quick read focuses mostly on them before Justin lets his hang ups get the best of him. The sex is hot and well done with light BDSM themes. My only complaint is that it would have been nice to have more of what happened between them between Thanksgiving and New Years.
When Kylie's ex pushed way to far she finally had to escape. The only person she felt safe calling was her best friend from college. The guy she enjoyed one uneventful night with. But has Justin changed? Have his sexual tendencies changed. Maybe the so-so, missionary style guy she knew back then can meet the needs she has after all. Or maybe their pasts have caused too much damage to both of them.
Justin is out on his snowmobile when he gets a panicked call from his best friend, and then the line goes dead. In a panic he races through the woods until he finds Kylie, half frozen and injured. Justin would be there to rescue Kylie every day of the year. Especially from her jerk of an ex. But with the baggage they both carry it seems a few days of hot and heavy sex is all he will get with the woman he has wanted for years.
Can Justin work through his issues and be able to love Kylie the way she needs?
I haven't yet found a Taryn Quinn book I didn't love. This one rambled on a bit but I loved the way Justin and Kylie both were willing to do what it took to get healthy before attempting a relationship.
What an incredible story of two people who have trust issues getting together. After a misunderstanding they walk away but undergo counselling so that they get together again which Kylie and Justin eventually do.
This is a novella about a second chance romance between high school counselor Justin and bartender Kylie. They were friends who years earlier had a one-night stand in college that remained a one-night stand only. Kylie became involved with another man. Justin and Kylie build a close friendship on the nights Justin frequents her bar. During Thanksgiving break, Justin gets an SOS call from Kylie when she in desperation calls when she wrecks her snowmobile close to his home. In the closeness of Justin’s home, the sparks of desire explode between Justin and Kylie into such steamy scenes the smoke is still dissipating of off my kindle. Both are dealing with internal struggles which trigger emotions that spill over effectively ruining the intimacy shared between them. An ex-boyfriend, childhood trauma, and their own sexuality kinks all play into having scarred souls. Yet, with time, love finds them and the answers they both need to move on with their lives and find the strength to accept love as they find their HEA. I love each and every novel or novella that Taryn Quinn writes.
In all of the little towns in the world Kylie did not expect her past to walk through the door of the bar she worked at in Turnbull,New York.
For me Justin Norton is a man with some hidden issues who has a huge heart. Being raised as he was, he’d made his way. I enjoyed his ability to be friends with Kylie, their friendship is light as it is intense. Justin is a consular, and now he is in a place that he needs help. Will he follow his own advice? Or will he let his own ghost from the past hamper his future?
Oh my Kylie Fisher is a fun, sparkly new toy that I enjoyed immensely. I so loved that she knows what she wants and goes for it. Things get a bit messy when her ex pops up in the most untimely way. *Grins* Kylie works as a bartender and she loves her job especially when her favorite person stops by.
Justin and Kylie were friends in college who had a special night before they both went off to live their lives, but now their paths cross again. Will their re-connection pick up where they left off or has to much time passed? There nothing I don’t love about these characters. Their witty banter, big hearts was a huge draw for me.
I truly enjoyed the plot of Saving Kylie, There is definitely a friends to lovers vibe, but the journey of the heart is never easy. Saving Kylie was a quick easy read that I could not put down, Taryn Quinn does what she does best as she gives us characters even in their own turmoil gives us their best. Strong, witty and oh so passionate they had me melting from the beginning. My favorite quote from Justin to Kylie is "Melt all over me". Those words... Wow!
Justin and Kylie’s story is such an amazing roller coaster of emotions. They are both so attracted to each other but before they can be more than friends, do they have what it takes to figure it out? Told in dual point of view, I enjoyed as they both shared their feelings. Steamy chemistry and deep soul searching, this story has every thing that kept me needing to see what was next
Saving Kylie is a re-edited version of Melt, I haven't read Melt so I really don't know what the differences are between the two versions. Justin Norton has put his feelings for his best friend in the back of his mind, never thinking there would ever be a chance for them. But when she calls him for help after running from her problems and getting hurt, he thinks this may be his second chance with her. Kylie runs to Justin after ending things with her boyfriend because she knows she can trust him. She never expects it to be anything more than friends. And she definitely never expects to realize that there is more to him than what she though back in college. But when they both try to deal with their personal demons can they make a relationship work between them or throw it all away.
I really enjoyed this one! Kylie and Justin have this chemistry that is seriously hot and off the charts! And there are definitely hidden depths to Justin! Justin is a stand up guy who definitely has demons from his childhood. Kylie is this strong woman with a snarky attitude that I loved, but she also has her own issues that she had to face head on. They both have to face not only their personal issues but deal with their sexual kinks and finally knowing that they are ok. It was a good read! I always wish the novella's were longer though since I never want them to end!
Dual POV. Standalone, no cliffhanger. This couple's story takes place in Turnbull but crosses over to the Crescent Cove world. Second chance friends to lovers romance. Trigger warnings: cheating leads to a break up; sexually adventurous characters (includes spanking, a toy & a tongue ring); battered woman.
Justin & Kylie had a one night stand in college their senior year then drifted apart. Years later Justin is a high school counselor and Kylie is a bartender. Justin is single and Kylie is in a committed relationship. Justin has wanted Kylie since college but respects her relationship. Two nights before Thanksgiving Kylie gets off work early and arrives home to find her boyfriend cheating on her. Kylie is so upset she goes out for a snowmobile ride in the middle of a snowstorm, she has an accident on a trail close to Justin's cabin and she's able to call Justin for help before passing out. Justin quickly finds her and helps her. The next 3 days they spend together wrapped up with each other. Things go wrong a few times and both have issues they need to overcome. I'm so glad that they get a third chance together after some time apart. I hope there will be more about Justin and Kylie in the future.
Thank you ladies for another great read. I hope that the Crescent Cove water gives us a baby Fish. JP
This is the hottest read of 2021…..Kylie and Justin are sizzling!
Saving Kylie was such a blast of heat and action from the get go. It is hot, sizzling, on fire, it is witty and amazing! At first there is this intrigue as to why Kylie needs Justin and why she chooses him to lean on and then the two of them are together and it is kismet. Kylie is sassy and so powerful and knows exactly what she wants and having her discover that Justin is indeed what she wants makes this story all the more raw in its appeal. Justin is the one that has pined over Kylie, and boy oh boy does he deliver when it is his chance to show Kylie just how well he can save her.
Taryn Quinn brings the raw sex appeal that is necessary for these two characters to delve so deeply into their love. Because it is love between them and the journey towards truly realizing it gives me chills. It i real and beautiful.
Give me more Taryn Quinn….I am all in with this book and hoping I can see more of these two.
As per the authors, Saving Kylie was previously published as MELT by Cari Quinn in 2013 and has been lightly re-edited.
Justin and Kylie have known each other since college. A lackluster night together had them going their separate ways. They reconnect as friends years later, but neither has quite forgotten about their night together. One snowy night, when Kylie has an accident, she calls on Justin for help. An old flame is fanned into an inferno of ultra-steamy, sexy times, aaaand the baggage sets in. Kylie is just leaving a long-term boyfriend, and Justin has his own issues he's wrestling with. But, in true Taryn Quinn style, they overcome their issues together, and have a HEA ending.
This is a standalone novel, not related to any of the other series that have been written.
I liked this book. It was a fast read, as the characters really sucked me in. If you're looking for a fun escape, this is a book for you!
I'm usually a big fan of Taryn Quinn's Crescent Cove books and Saving Kylie isn't quite a part of that series however it is set in a neighboring town. Saving Kylie was a lot more erotica and angst and a lot less fun and lightness then the Crescent Cove series. That isn't a bad thing it just means that it wasn't the right book for me. Kylie and Justin were friends in college that never quite made it into a couple. Kylie moved on with another guy and Justin moved on with his life. Now it's years later and Justin happened to run into Kylie tending bar at a local spot and they have reconnected their friendship even though he wants more but knows that he shouldn't because she is in a long term relationship. Things have changed for Kylie right before Thanksgiving and these two jump into something that is probably not the smartest thing for them but it is the holidays and they're both lonely. So check their story out and see if it is the right one for you. It was told from dual POV and is heavy with heat and angst.
This book teaches the lesson ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ to both Kylie and Justin. During a forced proximity steamy Thanksgiving weekend, they find they had major misconceptions about each other regarding perceived sexual preferences. There is an interesting examination of spanking as foreplay and a sexual kink versus physical abuse and issues of consent and empowerment. While their sexual preferences were not my catnip, I could appreciate that their choices worked for them. I really liked that Kylie was not shy about initating their sexual encounters or verbalizing what she wanted. I also liked that she was good at expressing her boundaries and could clearly explain to the hero when she felt he had overstepped or tried to make decisions for her. He immediately stepped back which I also appreciated. Final Rating: 3.5 Stars
Justin has a problem. He's in love (or deep lust) with another man's woman. He's tried not to be, but it's not working. When she calls him asking for help, he does what anyone would do and goes to her aid.
Maybe calling Justin wasn't Kylie's smartest move, but he was the only choice and she knew he would help.
Being under that same roof may not be the best idea. Especially since Kylie is newly single and is wanting the same thing from Justin that he wants from her. The same dark desires.
They are both running from their past. Will they be able to work out their own issues so they can be together for long term? Hang on because it's going to be a rough ride.
This was not quite what I was expecting based on the blurb. Kylie and Justin had a very short thing while in college and I loved the second chance that they were given. I would have liked to have had a bit more story, it's very heavy with BDSM themes and all that goes with that. There's emotions on both sides that they dig in to a little, the ups and downs from their lives. I did find myself skimming some parts. The writing itself is strong and didn't deserve a lower star just because of my personal tastes.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Great short story about second chance love. In all honesty...at first I found the characters a tad shallow, but I should have known these authors wouldn't disappoint. The characters become more filled out and so likeable as you continue reading. A steamy Thanksgiving romance, that becomes so much more as you read on. Two people who truly find themselves and deal with past hurts and hangups as they move forward. Thank you for the great read.
