Suffocate: Darkness Falls Book 4: A Thrilling Post-Apocalyptic Series

Rate this book
Attempts have been made to fight back against the aggressive growth of humanity's ultimate enemy, but whether anyone will survive to see if they can succeed is unknown in the penultimate chapter of the Darkness Falls series.

From the #1 best-selling and celebrated post-apocalyptic author Mike Kraus, writing with Barry Napier, comes a new enthralling tale of devastation, survival, and the endurance of the human spirit like no one else can.

It's been hailed as a groundbreaking new weed killer - a true revolution for farming and invasive plant control techniques. When strange deaths start spreading around the country like wildfire, it becomes apparent that this miracle chemical is actually a nightmare that threatens the lives of every single person on the planet.

On a small farm in rural Virginia, a string of animal deaths leads to the discovery of a horror beyond imagining. It is inescapable, unavoidable and impossible to combat, and everyone who comes close to it risks certain death. Worst of all - it's spreading.

In the Amazon rain forest, secret testing by the chemical's creator reveals its true effects, both on plant and animal life. Horrified by what he's created, he faces an uphill battle to reveal the truth as the world begins to crumble around him.

A mother - separated from her husband and child and trapped in the bottom of a bottle - chooses to fight the encroaching shadows, and in doing so brings light to the darkness. Her decisions, and those of other survivors of this horrific event, will be the only thing that stands between humanity and total annihilation.

Suffocate - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

The mutated kudzu vine pandemic means millions are doomed to die horribly in Suffocate, Book 4 of Barry Napier and Mike Kraus' epic Darkness Falls series.
Triple storylines tell of survivors stranded in remote areas being rescued by private pilots, in an airborne imitation of WWII's small boats' rescue of stranded troops on the French coast at Dunkirk. How many can they save?
Others must seek refuge wherever they can find it, then defend it against all-comers, whatever that takes. Who survives to carry on?
Meanwhile, we follow the aptly-named Adam and his team of scientists in a do-or-die attempt to kill off the triffid-like kudzu vine at its core, hoping against hope to end the nightmare of death and usher in a new beginning...can they succeed?

This book was a good addition to this very good series. It is generally well-written and editing, though I was puzzled that at first the Vice-President was Franklin and then suddenly Ellis. Confusing. It also bogged down a bit with the part about the deep-sea suits and attacking the kudzu. I do like how much survivors are cooperating, but also feels like a shoe is about to drop, probably in the next book.

Killer kudzu

I was so involved with everyones horror adventures, that the end of the book sneaked up on me. While some people are getting closer to their goal, thanks to a lot of kind people, many have lost their lives to the deadly kudzu. The scientists may have found a way to kill it, but will they survive their journey to the base of the Kudzu. Now I just have to get the next book to see.

An amazing story that will have you gripped. A new type of weed killer, who knew the devastation it would cause. People separated from their families, how will they find each other. Who knows if it will even be on time. Intriguing, lots of action. Ready for the next.

The fourth book is as good as the others. To survive the plant and some humans, the main characters have been forced to do things they never thought they would. As the story progresses, the characters are changing and growing.

Brilliant series, could it happen, oh yes. Well researched, frightening but very well written. Can’t wait for book five to come out . How will it end ?
