Rotterdam-based photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek have systematically documented the dress codes of various social groups. Rotterdam's heterogeneous street scene remains a major source of inspiration for them, although for this new edition, with 48 new series, they have also visited Milan, Beijing, Rio de Janeiro, Casablanca, Praia (Cabo Verde), New York, Bordeaux, London and Paris.

This is such an interesting concept! I loved recognizing people I know in some of these, and even found a page or two that showed the exact styles I was trying to emulate while in high school. And I thought I was being so original...

The photos in this book go from 2014 all the way back to the first photo in 1994. I most enjoyed the photos of the years that I can actively remember. Seeing as I was born in 1995, I obviously don't remember much of what people were wearing the first few years of my life. For this reason, I think older people might enjoy this a bit more than I did.
I hope more revised editions will come out, or maybe a whole new book, because already I can think of so many kinds of people that could be featured in this project!

My favorite pages:
- 117. Holly Hobbies
- 115. Fluffies
- 102. Hipsters (although not really what I think hipsters became later on)
- 97. Backpackers
- 90. Geeks
- 50. Ecopunks

Recommended if you are interested in fashion, people, trends, subcultures, photography projects.

A brilliant photography collection which confirms that striving to be "unique" has its enforced similarities.
