The Other Side by Mandi Blake - 4 Stars
(Book 5 in the Wolf Creek Ranch Series)

Mandi's most dramatic one yet! WOW - ya'll this one is filled with the FAMILY TEA! What a wild ride! I am so glad I read this one because Thea and Brett are a new favorite couple and it's prepared me to read Gage and Hadley's story in Love in the Wild (Love in Blackwater series #3). We learn all about the Patton - Howard family feud in this book.

Thea skipped town 5 years ago after a tragic accident. She left behind Brett, the man she loved. Brett never expected to see her again but he finds her injured on a snowy night and they start reconnecting as Brett takes care of her and they try to figure out who harmed Thea.

I really enjoyed this one - we got so much back story on different characters to come in future books and Thea and Brett's family feud. I loved the natural faith thread Mandi weaves in her stories, this one was beautiful. This story had so much tension between the families - murder accusations, Thea's mother sick with cancer, some crazy family members that remind you of the MOB -- this was a wild ride!

This had some romantic suspense vibes going for it, which I LOVED.

Excited to finish this series with book 6 soon and read Gage and Hadley's story in Love in the Wild!

Okay, I LOVED this book!

It has a Romeo/Juliet family situation, second chance romance (my favorite) and I loved the Christian themes that lead these two back together!

This is my second book in this series (I've read book 4 and now book 5) and I am here for this setting. Wolf Creek Ranch has become one of my favorite settings and includes some of my favorite characters. I definitely need to go back and read the first 3 books and will highly be anticipating each book that comes out after this.

This book deals with some tougher/rougher content, but nothing went into detail. It really set the scene for what the two main characters have faced their entire life and seeing their relationship grow through it was really incredible.

"How many bullets are you going to take for her?"
He reached the door and opened it. "Every last one."

Brett is someone who never gives up. Not on hope, not on love and not on life. I loved his dedication and sincerity with Thea. Thea in turn has a heart of gold and is trying to keep everyone safe. I loved how the ranch welcomed Thea and loved seeing previous characters throughout this book.

There is so much I want to talk about but do not want to give anything away because this book is so fun to discover through the pacing of the story.

Bottom line: I loved it! Highly recommend!

If you like contemporary romance with a western feel, love conquers all with God on your side this is a book you want to check out...and believe me it's worth the read!

Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Content/Trigger: Cancer, Abusive and Controlling Family Relationships, Death, Murder, Gun Violence, Kidnapping, Assault, Mild Suspense, Kisses, Christian Themes. (Nothing overly detailed in any content, would recommend for 16+)

Intense!

A thrilling addition to the Wolf Creek series. The past has a bad habit of coming back to haunt Brett and Thea. It is hard to imagine how people can be so cruel to members of their own family! Brett is so protective and lovable; wanted to jump into the story and give him a squeeze! Thea is faced with so many hurts and doesn’t know who to really trust. But her heart is always toward Brett.

I like that they both found Jesus in the years apart and their trust in Him helped them move forward against the meanness around them.

I enjoyed the story; had been excitedly waiting for it to be completed. A sweet, intense, melt-your-heart romance.

Mandi Blake grabs the reader’s attention from the opening scene and doesn’t let up. From the first sentences, the reader can feel the tension between Thea risking her own life and her great desire to see her mom again.

Brett recognizes Thea, his missing love, when a mysterious truck drops her on the church steps after a wedding. The author instantly connects the reader to Brett’s conflicting emotions: excitement to see Thea again, fear over her injuries, and rejection over her skipping town without him.

I love the way Mandi Blake takes us on the journey toward reconciliation and healing in this families-are-enemies drama. Thea and Blake confront misperceptions about their relationship and when they split five years ago. They also must learn to trust each other while they fear for Thea’s life. The story kept me turning pages late into the night to see how it would unfold.

Even though this is book 5 in the series, it stands on its own. But I recommend the entire series because it’s soooooooooooo good.

Fans of cowboy romance from a Christian worldview will enjoy this sweet but suspenseful romance.

Genre: Christian Romance, Inspirational Romance, Cowboy Romance
Location: Wolf Creek Ranch, Wyoming
Romance: Swoon-worthy, clean kissing.
Faith: Both main characters pray and seek to apply their faith to the lives.

Thea & Brett
This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author.

Wow! These two had such a difficult past, including her running away. When she comes back to town to see her sick mom, that horror refuses to stay in the past.

It's a good thing that Brett has friends. :)

It was awesome to read of their HEA.

This is my new favorite Mandi Blake book! This story really captivated me from start to finish! I was so invested in Thea and Brett’s story! Their romance played out in a natural way and I loved how their romance slowly built as they had to learn to trust each other again. The tension between the feuding families really added a level of tension that made me anxious for the characters and there were several shocking twists that took me by surprise! I love a good twist that I didn’t see coming! Mandi Blake always weaves a very prominent faith thread into her stories and this book was no different. It was natural, it was relatable, and brought out another side to the characters as well. I was rooting for Brett and Thea from the start of this book, but I loved how they found their happily ever after. It was definitely worth the wait! Also, the next book’s teaser is in the back of the book and oh my goodness, it’s going to be fun!

“We will win. You’ll be free. If I have to burn everything down, go to the ends of the earth, protect you with my life, I’ll do it.” ~ Brett

This was my first Mandi Blake book and I loved that is exactly what is supposed to be, a true Christian fiction. A lot of the time I’ll choose a book that is marketed as Christian and get nothing more than a mention of a prayer. To me, Christian fiction must exhibit a little more than generic platitudes or subtleties. I want bold declarations of faith, of Jesus, of repentance, salvation from sin. And Mandi hits the mark. I love that she isn’t afraid to speak the name of Jesus.

The Other Side is book 5 in the Wolf Creek Ranch series, I have not read the previous ones and wasn’t totally lost, so you can definitely read it as a stand-alone. But they are a plethora of interesting side characters that have established relationships and you’ll be itching to discover their back stories.

Brett and Thea have a tumultuous history, five years ago the bad blood between their two families tore them apart. Brett is shocked when Thea is literally thrown back into his life. She disappeared all those years ago without a trace and he never thought he’d see her again. But this is not the happy reunion he had hoped for, Thea’s family is out for revenge and blood. Brett and Thea are the targets and anyone caught in the crosshairs is collateral damage.

This story is a forbidden, second chance romance about two people trying to breakaway from the all consuming hate between their two families. In their time apart, they both surrendered their lives to Jesus and are trying to walk in his ways. This is a story about trusting God, finding hope, and embracing faith. There is talk of murder, violence, and a kidnapping.

“We will win. You’ll be free. If I have to burn everything down, go to the ends of the earth, protect you with my life, I’ll do it.”

My emotions while reading this book went a little like:
🤔😱😢😡😱😑🤭😨🤯😖🤨🤪😱😍😍😍😍😱🥳👏🏻😡😭😡😱🙌🏻😭😍

Or something like that. You guys! I’ve read a few Mandi Blake books over the past year and let me start this review by saying this woman does not hold back or disappoint. Especially with this novel!!!! Let’s dive into my thoughts, shall we?

First of all I used to have a huge stereotype in my mind about Christian romances and what they “had to be” or maybe it was more of “What they couldn’t be.” However Mandi Blake’s novels have shown me that not only can anyone, believer or non believer, read her books and absolutely enjoy them but she shares real life in every book she writes!

Every character has a rawness to them that is relatable which allows us as readers to feel seen or just to make a stronger connection to the characters and story we are reading. Well done Mandi, this is why you are absolutely incredible at what you do!

The Other Side was like nothing I’ve ever read before, especially in the Christian Fiction world. Instantly the reader is drawn into curiosity about the dynamic with Thea and her family. Quickly we learn not only is Thea’s family different from “normal” families, but they despise her ex-boyfriend, Brett’s, family. There is a literal war happening where Thea and Brett play Romeo and Juliet.

This story absolutely grips you in your seat from start to finish while tying is those Swoony moments we crave in a romance and side characters you can’t help but love in a small town setting. The Other Side packs it all!

This is why it is on my top list for favorite book ever! I want to recommend this book to everyone! Hints the 5 star rating.

Probably my most favorite part, as a believer in Jesus myself, is how moving the scenes were with not just Brett & Thea’s stories of how they found Christ but how the family came together at the Ranch and provided a church service for Thea. These little moments were such a breath of fresh air to read within a book and I know my heart is craving more Christian centered books. They’re so good for the soul in many ways while providing the best entertainment and all that us romance lover craves within a story. It’s a win win friends!

“She was standing close, and his breaths came in deep swells. He knew the feel of her lips on his, and it was more than a dream. It was a memory preserved in amber. Leaning down to kiss her would be as natural as breathing. Nothing else existed except for her. Nothing else mattered.”

There has been very few authors throughout my book blogging journey that I've gotten the opportunity to work with right from the beginning of their writing career, and I feel so blessed that Mandi Blake has been one of those few. She continues to amaze me with how much she grows in her storytelling capabilities with each and every release, and The Other Side was so much more than I was remotely prepared for. This heart wrenching, swoon worthy tale is truly unlike anything she's ever written before, and I adored it from start to finish.

The reader follows our protagonists, Thea Howard and Brett Patton, who are basically from modern day Hatfield and McCoy type families. They fell in love years prior, but their destructive families tore them apart. When a chance encounter brings them back together, Thea's not sure they'll ever be able to move past their sinister upbringings, and find their way to happily ever after. However, Brett is determined that he's not letting Thea go this time, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to find a way to their forever future.

With many heartwarming moments, a sinister plot that twists and turns around every corner, a sweet and swoon worthy second chance romance, and a lovely emphasis on faith and friendship, The Other Side is truly Mandi Blake at her best. I loved how this is unlike anything she's ever written before, and I truly don't believe she could write a bad book if she tried. Thea and Brett's story pulled at my heartstrings and brought a big smile to my face, and I adored every single moment of it.

If you're in the mood for a sweet and clean faith based read that focuses around redemption, second chances and an illustration of the idea that no one is ever too broken to be mended by Jesus' love and sacrifice, then this is definitely the book for you.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I can't possibly recommend this one enough, and I will now be waiting (not so) patiently for the release of book six! It can't possibly come quick enough.

Thanks so much to Mandi Blake for allowing me to read and review this title!

Five years ago, Thea left without a backward glance, fleeing the murderous hostility between her family and Brett's - and convinced at last of his guilt in her father's murder. But when she hears that her mum is dying of cancer, she makes what was meant to be a quick trip back to see her one last time - only to be trapped and beaten up in the dark as she's leaving the house. When the first person she sees on coming to in hospital is Brett, she finds that the old attraction is still there between them, but so are all the reasons they could never work as a couple. He only knows that she left him in the lurch when things were worst, but that he still cares for her. But trying to get together again will put them in both families' cross-hairs, even if Thea would be willing. Can they overcome all that's keeping them apart to create a new family together?

I suppose families like this really do exist or people wouldn't write about them - but I find it impossible to really get my head around the idea. Nevertheless, it makes for a great setting/background to a romance (as long as someone else is living it!). I loved Brett's patience and care for Thea as she gradually recovered, both physically and mentally, and it was good to be able to watch Thea slowly open herself up to the love and hope that her life hadn't given much opportunity for before. Of course, it was also nice to see more of previous (and future) couples/characters, though each story in the series is a complete standalone romance - though having said that, read one and you're sure to want more! All in all, a good read and I look forward to Linc's story.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

The other side
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🌶:kissing (clean romance)
❗️:violence, death

This one has a Romeo & Juliet vibe to it ,and i loved it. It has a second chance, hurt her, and you die, family rivals tropes.
Brett and Thea's families hatred for each other runs deep and their not above committing murder, for their families.
I really felt all of the emotions, and I couldn't not love and cheer for Brett and Thea.
It's intense, suspenseful, and has a wonderful HEA
Brett and his willingness to forgive Thea for leaving (is so strong and beautiful) his willing to do anything for his girl.
Thea has been hurt by the people who are supposed to love and protect her ,yet they leave her for dead. I felt her fear and how she battled with who she could trust.
This story is about forgiveness and that love can conquer all.

I couldn't help but fall a bit in love with Cage (please give him his own beautiful love story!!!)

Lesson: Turn to the Lord ,all things are possible.
Overcoming your families sins through God.

When everyone is against you, and the only one you love is accused of murder, what can you do? Run!!!

Secrets, family feuds, murders, abuses, and years of rivalry, between two families, led to people fighting for some normality and love.
Things do not work between Thea and Brett five years ago, their love was not enough to tame both families; Brett was accused of murdering Thea's father, and Thea was seen by her own family as a traitor, she run and hide for five years.
Now Thea is back, she needs to see is mama before she died and everything goes wrong. And Thea ends up in the hospital and beside her is the person she less wants to see, Brett, her only love ❤️
They have a new chance, Can they have this time what they need to conquer and save not only their love but their families? Can God be enough? Can they find peace and forgiveness?
Find out in this beautiful, emotional, and inspiring story about family difficulties and the love of God and friends.
I love and enjoy this book from the beginning to the end, beautifully well done and developed.

The Other Side had me on the edge of my seat in chapter one! So glad I joined this ARC team and am excited to share my own opinions and review of this story. I’ve gotta say Brett and Thea’s second chance cowboy romance was a wild ride. The danger and risk had me reading at fast as possible. Brett’s patience, and determination to win Thea’s heart a second time will have you all swooning 🙃. Always love the clear and strong message of salvation and truth in Mandi’s books. And who doesn’t love a cowboy pursuing and protecting the one he’s always loved? Neither Brett nor Thea grew up in good families and they have been fighting against that all their lives, although they didn’t grow up seeing loving families they are both determined to begin a new mold of what family looks like for them. There are twists, turns and great surprises throughout that you might not see coming. I have several favorite lines from this book but I don’t want to spoil it for you so order your copy now!

Wolf Creek Ranch is quickly becoming one of my favorite fictional places ever. I love the family feel of life on the ranch and how everyone looks out for each other. This time, its Brett needing the help and I love his and Thea's story. Their love story is written how I wish Shakespeare had written Romeo and Juliet, you know, like someone with a brain. It still had it's tragic moments but everything is talked out and resolved in the best ways. Brett and Thea are so good together and I was happy with the way things turned out. There was plenty of snarky banter and swoony moments too because Mandi writes these so well. Plus the faith of the characters that is so perfectly woven into the story adds the right touch of depth. If you haven't been fortunate enough to have started this incredible series, I suggest you remedy that ASAP. They are some of my favorite stories and I just know others will enjoy them too.

Wow! The Other Side is hands down my favorite story by Mandi Blake! There’s something for everyone in this novel, second chance romance, humor, suspense, some very unexpected twists and turns, and some nail biting moments. I enjoyed every second of it!

Thea and Brett’s families hate each other. When I say hate, I mean really, really hate each other, so after Thea comes back home to see her sick mom, things ramp up quickly - and not in a good way! I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but I was totally sucked into this story from the first chapter and I could not wait to see how things worked out for Thea and Brett! The faith thread was woven seamlessly throughout and felt natural. This is just a great story!

The Other Side by Mandi Blake is the 5th book in the Wolf Creek Ranch series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. After the epilogue, there is a teaser that has me ready for the next story in this series! I am also hoping we get a story for Gage and Hadley too!

I received a complementary copy of the story. All opinions are my own. Five stars!

An intense small town cowboy romance with hints of Romeo and Juliet...

I enjoyed Mandi Blake's latest Wolf Creek Ranch romance and found Brett and Thea to be likable characters despite their upbringing.

This story was a little different to Ms Blake's usual offering with its mafia vibes and more-than-usual intense scenes. There were elements of "Romeo and Juliet star-crossed lovers" themes with them trying to sort out their family issues while gravitating back to one another.

It took me a little longer to get into the story, but once I was invested in this second-chance romance, I needed to know the outcome! I felt several of the side characters shone brightly in this book, so I'm looking forward to seeing their romances in future books.

NB I received an ARC of this novel.

This book is a bit of a Romeo and Juliet story. Thea and Brett fell in love in high school but they are from rivals families. The rivalry ends up tearing them apart. Five years later, Thea comes to town to see her mother and ends up brutally beaten by violent members of her extended family then dropped literally at Brett’s feet. Brett never knew what happened to Thea 5 years ago and when he sees her again he is willing to do about anything to not lose her again. This story does have some dark parts due to family violence. It also has an uplifting message about love especially God’s love.

Wow! What a good book! Brett and Thea came from awful families, for the most part. Yet, they turned out well, and with a lot of help from the Lord, they were able to overcome some harsh obstacles. Brett is a good example of someone who loves through the bad and the good. I really enjoyed his character. At Wolf Creek Ranch, Brett and Thea, who did not have much family, discovered a new family of people who would be there for them and would support them no matter what came their way. The book was well written and truly a delight.

The Other Side is a Christian, inspirational, second chance romance with suspense! I was drawn into this well written book in the first chapter and got no sleep until I reached the end. Thank goodness both Thea and Brett have become Christians in the five years they have been separated. Only God's grace could have pulled off the miracles that occur in this suspenseful feud between the Howards and the Pattons. Ms. Blake has delivered a powerhouse story in this intense tale. You will not be able to put it down.

Mandi Blake does it again! A sweet, swoon-worthy romance with charming cowboys and realistic character growth. I’ve been intrigued by Brett and Thea’s story since the Bonus Epilogue from the previous “Wolf Creek Ranch” series, and it did not disappoint! The themes of second-chance romance, love driving out the darkness, and choosing who you want to be regardless of family name or previous mistakes woven in this story were beautiful. The author is excellent at including realistic details in descriptions, actions, or dialogue/thoughts to create authentic characters and stories the reader can relate to, visualize, and feel all the feels with. Also, I love the Easter eggs of previously met characters and hints at upcoming storylines in Mandi Blake’s books! I can’t wait for more. :)

An amazing story that contains excitement, suspense and the trials of building a relationship. The heartwarming characters of Brett and Thea have loved each other since high school, but due to the family feud the road to their happy ever after has become disastrous. Will they be able to bring peace and harmony or spend their lives looking over their shoulders?

The Other Side

Thea and Brett tried to overcome the family feud when they fell in love as teenagers. Thea left town five years earlier after her dad was brutally murdered. She returns only to be beaten for being a traitor to the family. She and Brett are reunited when her attackers dump her in the church parking lot. Their love did not seem to fade over the years. Will Brett be able to protect her?

Thea and Brett both knew that liking anyone from the opposing clan the Patterson vs. Howard's could be deadly. The long standing feaud became a war in the Howard's eyes, so when Thea and Brett fell in love labeled her a traitor, and tried to get Brett blamed for the murder of her father. When the dust settled Thea's older brother Gage thought he heard Brett confess to murdering her father but instead said that whoever pulled the trigger found their mark. Thea then runs away to Alabama for five years until word gets to her that her mother was dying of cancer. Once she returns her supposed family track her down and try to murder her through beatings. If this dose'nt make you want to read the book then it will be difficult to spark an interest. Definite 5 star and will jeep you turning pages.

Woe! and Wow!

This book had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails. The love Brett and Thea shared was beautiful and scary and doomed!
Everything about this story was amazing. The feud was long running and almost wrecked them years ago. Could they figure out a way to be together without hiding? Could they build a life away from the home and people they loved?
When I read the end I knew this book would stay with me for days. I’m writing this review four days after reading the story, and I can still see the scenes playing out in vivid color.
If you love Christian stories, you will love this book. If you like mysteries, you will love this book. If you like romance, you will love this book.

wow, this book is awesome

This book started out with intensity and never slowed down. You knew something was brewing from the first page and the dialogue kept building and building between the Pattons and the Howard’s. I highly recommend this book about Brett and Thea and if you want a ride and a half you will have to read it. I read the last 5 chapters three times. Now I am waiting for Linc and Jess’s story.

This is my first Mandi Blake book, but I need to go back and read all of them now. Brett was so swoon worthy, especially that line that's so spoilery. I was sick while reading it, but I sat up straight and was totally freaking out when I read that line. I won't tell you where it is, but trust me that you will know when you see it.

So glad I asked Mandi if I could start with this one, and she said yes. It can stand alone, but I think I would have appreciated it more had I started with book one.
