When souls are tied, it’s never goodbye. A boy , I was, the day that I met you that summer evening, pulling your belongings out of the truck and into your new home. I knew it was love then. A whole man , I was, the day that you met me at the altar and agreed to love me until death do us part. A shell of a man , I’ve become since it did. Unable to move on, move forward, or progress in any way until I discovered that not even death was permanent enough to keep us apart.
A better man , I’m destined to be, knowing that at some capacity you’re still with me. Our love is one that never dies. It moves mountains. It calms seas. It transfers souls and shifts lifetimes knowing that there is no one else in this world made for loving me.

3.7 ⭐️The fantasy and paranormal themes that were advertised this book didn't convey that to me. Although I didn't totally believe in reincarnation part, there were spiritual aspects to it. Prior to reading the novel, we were already aware that Malachi had just lost his wife Anna in Lawe’s book. We have an insight of Anna and Malachi's lovely connection in the prologue before it collapses. Malachi is working through his loss in solitude while still carrying out Anna's desires via their daughter Aussie. By some miracle, Aire emerges from a two-year coma after a car accident. She learns that life has passed her by when she wakes up and she also starts having glimpses and recollections of a mystery guy. This is quite overwhelming for her since she feels a connection to a person she doesn't know. This connection brings her to Berkeley and to Malachi. It's possible to claim that Aire is his second chance and second soul mate. We feel the pushing and pulling as we read. Malachi fights his affections for Aire, while Aire fights for a man who she knows she has known her whole life. In all honesty, I understood Grey's intent, but I feel like it was a little underwhelming for me. Regarding the Anna/Aire issue, nothing made sense. I yearned for more moments with Malachi's siblings/family. Two months of separation were unnecessary for the third act split. Because there were no hints, the killer's identity did not come as a shock to me as I had anticipated, but I am happy that Anna was vindicated, Malachi has found peace, and Aussie has the mother figure she deserves.

A new love?

Malachi was a completely different energy than we were left off with from Lawe's book. Instead of painting the city red to avenge his wife's death, he secluded himself and his daughter Aussie from his family and the world. His relationship with all of his brothers is now estranged, and Milo inadvertently feels pain and guilt for him. Loved the cameo from Lawe he is still a lot.

Aussie is the bright light of the story. She is literally brilliant. At 2.5 yrs old she is fluent in three languages and overly independent. He vows to fulfill Anna's wishes and get her home schooled. He sets out to find her a teacher and he meets Aeir. Her voice and spirit immediately shakes him to his core. When he finally meets Aeir her likeness to Anna is uncanny. He wants nothing to do with her, but at the same time he doesn't want her to leave. Malachi is so drawn to Aeir and he cannot explain it. He succumbs to her physically, but the guilt he feels is overwhelming.

I felt like the reincarnation story was a miss for me. Not the idea of it, but because they didn't have the real love connection that Grey is known to give us. His feelings for Anna is what led him to Aeir, but the fact remains that Aeir was not Anna. He didn't really know her and fell in love with the similarities she has to Anna. It just made it hard to believe that he felt any real love for Aeir.

The plot was all over the place for me. So many things were introduced but they felt unfinished or unnecessary. Anna and Malachi were so connected and they kept no secrets, but she didn't mention all of these things she was feeling? The picture on the phone was made to be such a big deal, but nothing came from it at all. For him to be such a boss I didn't get how he didn't question the people around him. The strife with Aeir's mother just felt unnecessary. We barely saw the brothers, and it was a miss for me that we didn't get to experience the conversation between Malachi and Milo, but we are supposed to expect his story next? There was no connection.

Overall this book was slow paced to me. It was also anticlimactic. I'd be lying if I didn't say I expected more in way of revenge. I was disappointed in the reveal. I'm over the breaks ups of the characters at the end that have been a theme in the last 2 books. I also expected a big love like the others and we just didn't get that.

I may have to sit with this one!

Malachi and Aeir were a whirlwind! And this reincarnation/kismet love story was all the feels! The prologue, which was 13% of the book mind you, had a lot going on and left me feeling for Malachi and Aussie. Anna was taken away tragically and later on we will see signs of her knowing her fatality was coming. How Aeir comes into the mix was so mind-blowing and left me saying Anna was going to fix this. This push and pull of Malachi and Aeir made sense because Malachi was fighting it, he wanted to love and be with no one outside of Anna, and promised her that. He had to realize Anna wasn’t coming back and get his ish together with Aeir. I’m glad Aeir knew better than to let Malachi play with her heart! She made him come correct after one too many disrespectful actions and I loved how she stood up for herself! Aeir’s life outside of Anna was very interesting and I’m happy Aussie helped her realize she needed to forgive those in her family. The climax of Aeir's sickness and the reason why hurt. That whole discussion was painful and yes a third-act breakup that in my mind was necessary! What didn’t make sense was the naming of Malachi’s best friend’s daughter. I still need answers on that cause why was she named that? I don’t want to spoil anything but that left me feeling like there was more to that part of the story. I also feel like Aussie was way more advanced than i could picture a 2/3yr old to be. It took me out the story a bit but I understand that baby geniuses are a thing. If y’all read come back and let me know what you guys thought!

Overall this book is a solid 4 and maybe 4.5 but I just have to sit with this one a little longer before I make that decision. A great opening to a new series and seeing the world through the Dominoe men's eyes!

Malachi has isolated himself from everyone after the death of his wife Anna. He is raising their baby girl Aussie. Aeir wakes from a coma with not much previous memories but sees a mystery man in her dreams. Aeir and Mal are drown to each other right away and can’t figure out why. Soulmates is what best describes them. This book was not paranormal nor had any paranormal aspect. Reincarnation is not paranormal but a personal belief. I’m interested in reading the other brothers stories as well as I hope there’s a story for Jae.

Malachi needed to Snap out of it!

I have no real explanation of rational reason why it took me so long to read this gritty story. I expected a fabulous story, and I received that triple times. I was afraid of this storyline. I was not ready to deal with Malachi being broken. I was not prepared for his grief. Thankfully, Aeir was the source Malachi needed to heal. In the background, Anna kept pushing Malachi to get out of his funk. She sent her final offering, especially for their daughter Aussie, because Anna knew his weakness. Aeir was his apparent weakness.

.

I’ve been anticipating Malachi’s story every since Grey announced she would be starting a new series related to the characters we all know and love, the Eisenberg’s and the Domino’s. I’ve come to expect a certain type of male character from Grey and Malachi just didn’t live up to my expectation. Malachi was down bad over the loss of his wife which is to be expected. However the loss morphed him into a whole new person/vibe then what was portrayed with his appearances in previous books as well as the beginning of this one.

The murder of his wife Anna, seemed to have taken a back seat to the new relationship with Aeir. I think the two were equally important. Malachi was left no clues to the murder with the exception of one picture. He focused all of his efforts staring at the one picture for 2 years. As the boss he was portrayed to be and the extended family that he had (We all know how the Eisenberg’s get down) I expected him and the crew to hit the streets for information, reach out to his connections, something other than the nothing he did. The book had minimal interaction with his brothers and cousins. I guess I was confused with wether or not this was a brand new series or continuation of the others. 🤷🏽‍♀️

The revelation of Anna’s killer could have propelled the potential in this book to something greater. The killer was revealed in the most expected and boring way possible. The discovery and execution all played out in less than a chapter. With the lack luster revelation of the killer, a man hunt or something, something creative could have really elevated the story.

It was said (and I don’t remember who) that the story had a paranormal aspect to it. That was another area of potential that fell short for me. A miraculous healing yes, all the other tidbits no.

With all this said it was a good romance story and still deserves to be read. This review is based on the expectation (mine) generated from the promotion and hype of this book.

Oh, Malachi!

What can I say about this book and this man?
I really enjoyed the direction this book took. It was unlike any of Grey Huffington's other stories and I loved that. It had somewhat of a paranormal element that I really enjoy. The character development was pretty good, but Malachi had me wanting to both hig him and pop him in the forehead a few times.
The only issue I had with this story is the beginning felt so effortless wither the flow and towards the end, it seemed that everything just sped up super fast so the story could be tied up nice in a bow. I would have like a little more with how both Aeir and Malachi were adjusting or not adjusting. I just think a little more could have been shared since so much had already been shared with how they both were feeling and dealing, the end just kind of ended.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and look forward to whatever is to come next

I’m conflicted with this one. Did he love Aeir for Aeir or because she was connected to Anna?
Can a love be too big?? Cause I thought Malachi’s love for Anna felt like a burden in this story rather than a breath of fresh air because I knew from the prologue that Aeir wouldn’t get a fair chance to be loved for herself & she deserved that.
All the familial connections and gooey feelings I felt reading the Eisenbergs & then the Dominoes were not present while reading this one as once again Malachi’s love for Anna shadowed all other relationships in this book with his brothers e.g when Mercer who just got out of prison came to visit.
Also, what happened to the forewarning we got in lawe’s book about Malachi painting Berkeley red because of Anna’s death❓❓❓❓Malachi just wasn’t the boss that I expected & needed him to be.
And this book certainly didn’t need a third act breakup especially wen their is a child like Aussie involved ‼️‼️
P.s I like myself some good ole black smut & other than that scene in the prologue with Anna, the others weren’t it especially the the 1st time he slept with with Aeir. Like my guy just spat & entered. Like no get away with that 🤺
The epilogue was very anticlimactic.

My summary:

Aeir has been in a coma for 2 years from a car accident that was on the same day that Malachi’s dear wife Anna was murdered

Malachi drowning in grief, isolated from the world decides to continue the dreams of Anna and hires Aier to homeschool their daughter

Well well well, this is when it gets deep, gut renching, heart breaking, refreshing, and a mixture of everything. Because Aier has pieces of Anna and Malachi doesn’t know if God is playing tricks on him.

Did Anna send Aier to Malachi to mend his heart? Is there love really so deep that even in death, they will never part?

Go read the book y’all!!!

My thoughts:

Malachi is my man my man my man! He’s definitely a Domino Man!

Grey left my heart on the table.

I’m lowkey speechless but ima find the words.

All I have to say is if my husband leave this earth before me and I don’t get an Anna/Aier situation, ima hurt to my core.

I was a little disappointed in the ending. It kinda just ended. To me the things that mattered like the big moments were not written for the ending.

Also, I feel like the big mystery was very obvious. I called it during the prologue.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Grey can never do wrong in my eyes!

✨Book Review✨
3.5 Stars

Let me start this review off by saying Grey can write a prologue!!! It was my favorite part of this book.

So, this took a completely different turn than what I was expecting. With how Lawe’s book ended, I would have thought that Malachi would paint the city RED behind losing his Anna. But that is not what we got with this book. Instead, Malachi secluded him and his two-year-old daughter, Aussie, away from his family.

I appreciate Grey for doing something different. However, I didn’t connect with the story entirely. It’s not a bad story at all. It’s tough to review this book without spoiling it. So, if you don’t want to be spoiled, don’t read any further.

The paranormal aspect of this book is not what is throwing me off; I feel like Malachi didn’t fall in love with Aire; he just loved her similarities to Anna. Because honestly, can anyone answer what he loved about AIRE?

Another thing, I need Grey to write more realistic children. I know Aussie was advanced, but some things this two-year-old said sounded like an adult! I mean, come on.

I also knew who the killer was in chapter five. It was so apparent to me. So, I knew the reveal would be lackluster. I wanted more action in this story; for Malachi to be such a boss, how could he overlook someone so close to him?

I also wish we got more of the brothers; that’s why I loved the prologue so much. That club scene was so lit I felt like I was in the club with them.

This one wasn’t my favorite, but I didn’t hate it. I’m very neutral on this one.

Aeir was robbed

I typically like this author’s books but this one aggravated me the core. I honestly felt bad for Aeir. She deserved her own love story. She deserved someone to love her for her and not whom she represented. Waking up to Anna’s strong emotional ties and feelings for her husband is unfair. She inherited a love that blossomed over time that did not belong to her. The author tried to shift the story to make the admiration be about Aeir, but it was too late. It was unfair to her and she was robbed of the opportunity to develop her own feelings, memories, and moments that comes with developing relationships and love for another soul. I’m ok with her having visions but not the sacred bond between a husband and wife that was forced on her. I would have like to see her fight for her place in his life. She was too comfortable relying on the fact that she carried his wife with her and he wouldn’t deny his love for his wife.

For me, I didn’t come full circle with the connection between Aeir and Malachi. It felt that the pull to her was really driven by Anna. I get that. she was the sole reason for their connection. But I was waiting for Malachi to say he felt something for Aeir aside from looking and “being” like Anna. They were halfway through the book when he was like, “oh tell me about yourself”. Umm what? Aeir knew all of his business. But he just knew her name. Smh. It was good though. I enjoy this author. But I feel like there were missed opportunities to take this story up a notch. I will revisit it again.

3.5/5

Not gonna hold ya 😅 it took me a minute to get my head wrapped around this plot lol. Like initially, I was lowkey put off bc how can anyone lose their first and only love in the most tragic way and then essentially replace them with their doppelgänger??? But after finishing this, I can confidently say things got slightly better by the end and I guess everything made more sense 🙃 But I think it’s safe to say this wasn’t my fave by Grey. And Laike and Law still have my heart with they crazy asses lol 😮‍💨💕 but fingers crossed these other Domino brothers come with some heat

I listened to the audiobook and when I shed tears from the prologue I knew this was going to be a good book. And if you were on the fence about soul ties or reincarnation this will make you a believer, Aire fought tooth and nail for Malachi and I’m happy he stopped fighting and started to realize the truth standing in his face

This book was a 3.5/5 stars for me but since we can’t do half on here, I’ll round it to a 4 because it was almost there. In all honesty, this book was a little different for me. I haven’t read much paranormal books but this fell under that realm. I really don’t know what I was expecting from this book in the beginning.

Aeir was just a breathe of fresh air to me and her patience was unmatched. I did think Aussie was a bit grown for her age but it seems like that is the thing with children in books now a days lol. I love how Aeir took on the role as caregiver and lover so effortlessly. Malachi, I could tell was and is a good man and he has his reasons, respectfully for lashing out when he did. At the end, I can say and admit that this was beautifully written.

The words “worry me” got to me every time🥹.

2.5 stars rounded down…it wasn’t a bad book but I’m starting to feel like the elevated writing is taking away from the personalities of the characters. The way Malachis internal dialogue is written is not the same when he is having conversations of other characters. I also hated the way Aussie is written, first of all she’s 2 and half it makes no sense her speech no matter how advance she is and the insistence that her being advanced emotionally is healthy, it isn’t. It’s not a child’s responsibility to take of their parents.it’s pretty obvious who the killer was especially considering there are only so many characters in the book and 95 percent of them are ruled out. The paranormal aspects where okay but still some of internal dialogue and the conversations were incredibly cringey

Malachi 🖤

One thing I love about Grey- the men she writes about aren’t perfect but they love their women with everything in them. Malachi was no different.

Imagine losing the love of your life - your soulmate and being so grief filled you could barely continue on. Imagine getting a second chance to love again. To heal. Malachi, Aussie, and Aeir (I love her name) had NO CHOICE but to love one another and be together. It was already written ❤️

When Aeir and Malachi first met he was a JERK. But seriously can you blame him? Someone showing up like that reminding him so much of the wife he lost and knowing things there’s no way she could - I wasn’t mad at him for it. It was a human response. Now what did get me was how easily everyone accepted what was happening between the two of them.

Once Anna’s murder was solved- she stopped coming to Aeir as much & I was happy she was at rest. I was worried that Aeir wouldn’t just get to be…herself. Fully.

I know this was different from what we’ve gotten from Grey but I was here for it.

Emotional Damage

This one right her put me through it. I felt so bad for Malachi. The way Grey wrote this it makes you feel like you’re right there experiencing everything with the characters. Although there is a slight paranormal feel to things it doesn’t take away from anything. It just made me feel like Malachi and Anna/Aeir’s souls were tied. They could experience love at anytime or any life. I’m so intrigued by what’s to come. With the rest of the brothers leaving me very excited in what’s to come. I’m also looking at Jae and would love to see more of her.

Otherworldly!

Malachi and Aier’s story is unconventional at best. Well written and developed characters help to solidify this layered and deeply emotional story.

While promoted as having paranormal elements, I would consider certain elements as more supernatural in nature, which I enjoyed.

While I found the story somewhat disjointed at times and some of the Aussie’s dialogue seemed to be a bit of a reach; overall, I enjoyed Malachi and Aier’s journey to HEA.

I liked the book. I listened via hoopla. I’ve never read a book with this particular storyline. But it was very enjoyable I didn’t expect a lot of things in the book. Some thing really pull at your heart strings. Without giving anything away I did expect the one thing people probably didn’t get right from the start though. All in all it was a really good story. I really enjoyed it.
