When Maddison discovers her fiancee is gay, she takes a break from her busy Los Angeles life and returns home to Montana. She runs across Jack right away. Jack was her childhood best friend whose father has recently died. In order to inherit the farm, Jack must marry within a year, or contest the will...a long and expensive process. Maddie offers a marriage of convenience. Both agree that their marriage is a good idea, but they disagree about children. Maddie wants kids as soon as possible. Jack refuses to have kids because he worries he will be a terrible father like his own dad. So what happens when Maddie ends up pregnant?

I really liked parts of this book. Jack and Maddie genuinely care about each other and their relationship reflects their prior friendship. The whole kids vs. no kids argument got old fast, though. Maddie decides to marry him knowing there won't be kids, but she continually tries to convince him he would be a great father.

In general, I am a marriage of convenience kind of reader, but this one just didn't do it for me.

With my freshmen I'm very adamant about how they have to be careful to provide evidence to backup their opinions in their writing. That it is never okay to say something is dumb or stupid. And that your argument is only valid if others can decipher the logic behind it. But now I'm gonna throw all that out the window and say that this book was just plain stupid. I would leave it at that but some justification is necessary, if only to assuage my guilt at being hypocritical.

Prepare for major spoilers....

1. Maddie is the most confusing person in the world. She wants nothing more than to,have a child but agrees to a marriage of convenience to Jack who refuses to have children - for a reason so utterly ridiculous that it is hard to believe that they are supposed to be intelligent, mature adults. One minute she's desperate for a baby the next she's like all gung ho to marry a man she doesn't love, who doesn't love her, and lead a childless existence. Yeah, I don't think so.

2. On Maddie again. She loves her job, she hates her job, she loves LA, she hates LA. She wants to stay in Montana, she wants to leave Montana. She agrees to marry Jack but makes no plan to leave her life in LA. She is so washy-washy she's giving me whiplash.

3. This marriage of convenience. She wants her parents to believe it's real but Jack has already told them of the stipulation in his dad's will. So do her parents actually believe that after being home for two days and spending one night together these two are really getting married for love? Sure, why don't you sell them a condo on the moon while you're at it?

4. They're in love after being together for two days.

5. Maddie is nauseous and vomiting two weeks after conception. Um, no. And her immediate thought is, I must be pregnant. Again, um no.

6. Jack hates the idea of being a dad. Is so pissed at Maddie for breaking his trust. But after only a few hours to digest the news he's reformed all his beliefs. Not only does he love her but he loves their baby? Really? Again...um, no.

So daring to break a cardinal rule from my writing class, I'm going to state again, very emphatically...this was just plain stupid.

What can I say I fell in love with Jack which made me fall in love with this book. "Maddie, I learned how to cook a few years back. I'm not a boy anymore." He's sometimes else and I just really loved him, he's bold, "checking out your a**. What does it look like I'm doing?" He winked and took another step closer, putting down the knife and folding his arms across his chest." He's sweet, "he leaned up to kiss her. "Baby, I've known you all my life. I wasn't expecting for a second than you'd be barefoot and pregnant on the ranch full time."

Some girls are lucky enough to find a guy friend that will stand by her through tough times, joke around to make her feel better, and even be their partner in crime. You know the kind more than a mere girlfriend, more like a big brother.

But what happens when you fall for each other is a complete different story that yes I am sure has been told before but not with the kind of emotional and passionate point of view as done so exquisitely by author Soraya Lane.

Both the characters of Maddie and Jack were strong, independent and resourceful to both get what they want from life, all the while neither one ever reckoned that a little friends with benefits arrangement in order for Jack to meet his father's will and keep his ranch would not only bring them together for a night of unbridled passion but would also change their their lives.

Yes,you guessed it ladies she becomes pregnant only Jack does not want children EVER! And now he feels that Maddie has betrayed his trust as he made it very clear that it would be a marriage in every sense of the word only no commitments of love or children.

What I loved about the book was the manner in which the author not only let me as reader into the mind of Jack and why he is so hard up on being a father, but also as to why Maddie is the woman that saves him from ending up alone and feeling sorry for himself.

The author used fun and flirty dialogue exchanges between Maddie and Jack that heated up the pages just enough to let you know the good part is coming. The backdrop setting of the ranch was a very nice touch as for me as reader it let me know that this was not only a book about friends turning into lovers when being reunited but of them both coming home to find what they need has been right in front of them all along.

The secondary characters featured in the book just enough to let you know they are there in support of the two main characters. What the real brilliant touch was, is that the author made each and every sentence a really emotional one,it was as if I could really see the characters facial expressions and feel their pain, discomfort and happiness, hear the wheels turning in their heads as they fight their own inner turmoil's.

The message sent across to me as reader by the author was one of nothing is impossible you just need to fight for it and somewhere along the line the light is going to shine through.

The book had charm, passion, sensual and sweet creativity and at the end of the day the perfect Hallmark ending we all dream of. The perfect love blossoms everywhere read.

Excellent, excellent work Soraya!

I really enjoyed this book. Jack, and Maddison were childhood best friends. They grew up being neighbors, with each other's ranches being next to one another. Maddison left town, and got a job as a event planner in a big city. She came home when her dad got sick. Being back on the ranch she realized just how much she had missed it. Maddison didn't remember Jack looking that HOT. He grew into a fine looking man. Jack was happy to see Maddison, wow he was shocked at how beautiful she was, no longer looking like a little girl. Jack's dad died. In the will it stated that Jack could only get the ranch if he was married. Maddison agreed to marry Jack. It was suppose to be a marriage of connivance. Jack's dad was mean to him, and Jack never wanted to be a father. He didn't want to take that chance that he would be a horrible dad. With Maddison, and Jack being best friends growing up, it didn't take long for that friendship to turn into something more. This really was a sweet book.

Liked the description of the book and thought would give it a try even though quite a departure from my usual reading material. Would have liked to give a higher rating but can only give a very generous two - one for the sweet gentle romance and the other for being free - as I was yet again infuriated and distracted by the careless and poor proofing such as though instead of thought; missing words or extra words In sentences; and my pet hate you're instead of your, etc. Shame could have been a nice relaxing escapist read and I might have looked into buying more in the series but am not prepared to waste hard earned money (no matter how large or small the amount) on a poorly executed product. Another plea to authors asking that they make the effort to have their work proof read and edited before putting it into the public domain.

Needs an editor

Cute story, but there are a ton of misspellings, grammatical errors, etc. Otherwise aside from this and it's brevity, I may have considered giving it a three star rating.

The back story... The h takes a short time off of work in LA to go home to Montana to see her ailing dad. She meets up with her childhood best friend, the H, and he tells her about the marriage stipulation in his father's will. She suggests that he marry her.

The Romance... I didn't really see it as it was friendship to lust and it was a short story.

The drama explosion... The h gives unwanted news to the H and he freaks out.
Did it feel Real, OK or contrived? Somewhat real
Was it OTT? Yes
Separation involved? Not really
Was it resolved properly or rushed? Ok

Final Notes... It was difficult to like the H for me as he would get angry constantly and was a bit aggressive when talking about what he didn't want.

DNFing @ 43%.

Bisexual Invisibility R'US - if a man is having sex with a woman AND a man, chances are he's bisexual, NOT gay ffs.

Apart from that marriages of convenience are basically entirely unnecessary in the modern, western world and that the concept of Montana Reunion is incredibly stupid, all the speeches about parenthood are pissing me off.

The hero is absolutely transparent about not wanting children and has some pretty sound reasons for feeling that way. Even if he had no reasons, he's still entitled to feel that way. But oh no, the heroine is sure he's making a mistake and will regret this and would make such a good father. She believes that having kids will be something they can renegotiate after the wedding and that he'll just eventually give in. Knowing from the synopsis that Madison ends up 'accidentally' pregnant makes me wonder just how accidental that actually is.

Manipulating someone into a major life choice that they didn't want is shitty and prescriptive. If people don't want kids, that's their choice.

I can't believe they edged me like that. I came in here expecting some toe curling angst cos that was a given from the plot. Only to get there and have it snatched away from me 😮‍💨.

This man has been against having a child from beginning to end and all of a sudden he accepts? CMON even I know I'd be pissed AF if I keep tellin a man I don't want kids and he goes ahead and "accidentally" forces a kid into me. All of a sudden he comes to peace with his beliefs and trauma with his dad and realises he loOoOves this woman CMONnnnn NEOWww🤨 are you for real?

And this Lady pissed me off for real so bad. She was like a broken record with how she kept insisting to him he could be a dad when he CLEARLY mentions MILLIONS of times he doesn't WANT a child 😭
But great 😃 👍🏿 She just used his mom to basically guilt trip him to suddenly realise he wants kids and Loves her. Right 👍🏿 awesome
And you wanna know what else, they kept robbing me of some fluffy smutty scenes CMON NEOW!!!!!

Charming

This was a sweet book that was really easy to read. I loved Maddison and Jack and although this was pretty predictable I liked the characters enough that I was happy to ride along and see just how their relationship was going to change.
Maddi’s family was lovely, and one of my favourite things about this book was her interaction with them and their interactions with Jack, which makes me interested in reading more in the series.
The whole timeframe felt rushed at times, especially when Jack claimed entrapment and then changed his mind equally as fast, so I would have preferred it being more drawn out, but I found it really enjoyable overall.

An SL. Modern Western Action Adventure (MR) (MB. - 1)

SL. has penned a modern western story that takes place in Montana. A woman returns to Montana from the big city to find her old boy friend in trouble with his ranch. She suggest a working partnership marriage to save the ranch. They marry. She finds her new hubby does not want any children. What she did not plan on after returning home was wanting to get pregnant. The two stay together and have one night if wedded bliss and she ends up pregnant. This is an excellent read diverge genre.....DEHS

I normally enjoy stories of love found, contemporary Western romance and emotional growth. This one, not so much. The h had an enormous amount of maturity needed before she should have even considered motherhood or marriage.

The time line, to me, was too rushed. Insta-love, not realistic. Instant lust, sure. Instant effects from pregnancy, again, not realistic. With some serious editing and a more realistic time line, this would be a much stronger story.

Short but good 👍

Jack and Maddison grew up as neighbors and best friends. However adult life separated them for over ten years. Jack now has a terrible situation in the will of his deceased father, and Madison is reeling from a busted engagement. Madison came home for a much needed break and they find that their childhood friendship can once again help them share each other's fears and pain. However, they are not kids anymore.

Montana Reunion (Montana Book 1)

The love story of Jack and Maddison. Middison return after she found her fiancé in bed with someone weeks before the wedding. Jack's father just dead and in his will that he must marry to keep the ranch. Jack and Middison have been friend since childhood and they think a marry of convenient would be great to save his ranch. Great beach read.

I felt this was a very good book. It's been a long time since I've put such a good review on a website but I definitely loved how the author, Soraya Lane, made the characters seem so real. I also like that they addressed issues and overcame differences by compromise. That's what real life is like and it's great to see it reflected in a book. Highly recommend this book!

Great story!

Jack was so afraid of being like his father that he decided to not marry because of they fear. He knew Maddison her whole life. They were the best of friends. Things happened that caused hardships, but after thinking logically, they got back on track.

Having read Soraya Lane's stories in the past I knew I would be in for a treat. I took a deep breath knowing my heartstrings would be emotionally tugged and turned the first page.

Montana Reunion is a beautiful heart-warming tale of two best friends and childhood neighbors who are drawn back together when Maddison returns from the bright lights and big city to their small and rural hometown. Jack's father has passed away and he needs to marry in order to inherit the family farm, he's sure he can fight it in court but marrying Maddison will make everything easier. Fresh from a break up Maddison agrees to the marriage of convenience and agrees to promise they wont have children. It's Jack's one and only proviso due to his childhood so when Maddison does fall pregnant Jack is in shock and feels so betrayed by the one person in his life that he trusted.

I loved that Jack and Maddison were already friends. The marriage of convenience didnt come about by any type of blackmail, it just felt right by both parties for their own reasons. Jack and Maddison grew together and genuinely needed each other and the moment they realised this is truly moving.

Soraya Lane has the ability to describe emotions and feelings, people and places down to a fine art and I love that because I become invested in the characters. A fantastic read that I was lucky enough to enjoy the majority of it while I was soaking up the sun at my local rose gardens, the perfect setting to become wrapped up in a heat-warming tale.

Montana Reunion will be the first of a series and by the time I turned the last page I could not wait for the next installment.

"Didn't we always say we would? That when we hit 30 we'd just get married so we could stay best friends?"

I loved it! I love Jack and Maddie. I'm starting to think that I have a good radar on stories about best friends. It was fast-paced, drama-less, no-bullshit and straight-to-the-point. It didn't have complicated plot twists and too much tears but it was still good. The characters and the plot itself wasn't flat and boring despite of being predictable.

Both characters had their stubborn and independent streak and from the time I started to read, I knew I'd enjoy their interactions. One major brownie point is that it felt like I'm watching them from the sidelines instead of just reading. I can clearly picture out their facial expressions and body language. Even the secondary characters were present even though most parts were focus with the two. They were there.

Underneath the love story, it also tells a story of coming home and being reunited with family. Maddie, who works miles away and Jack who never left home but didn't feel at home at all. It's pretty good that both of them found the place where they belong together.

All in all it was sweet, sensual and heart-warming. This is the first time I've read Lane's work but definitely not the last.

Jack and Maddison where best friends when they were growing up and now that Maddie is back in town they were happy to see that nothing had changed or so they thought. The easy banter back and forth was still there and they were able to pick up their friendship right where they left off but when Jack mentioned to Maddie that his father had put a stipulation in his will stating that he had to get married within a year, he never dreamed that Maddie would be willing to do it. He also never dreamed that one night of passion would leave her pregnant which was something that was Jack was not happy about at all. Maddie was the one person that he knew that he could always trust but now she’s broken that trust. She knew that he never wanted to be a father even though it was something that she wanted more than anything. Was it really an accident or something that she had planned?

I enjoyed the characters Jack and Maddie immensely. Even though the whole book takes place within a few weeks, you know going in that they had feelings for each other growing up but because they were kids, they never acted on them. This made the quick falling in the sack so quickly easier to grasp.

I've never read a book by this author before, Soraya Lane, and since I was in a funky mood and wanted something I could read in an afternoon I chose this book. It was another Kindle freebie. I love those freebies, I have to pay for this e-reader somehow or another.

This was another one of my "Mind Candy" stories, no substance, very predictable. I liked the fact that they had been BFF, she moved away for about 10 years. She came home for a visit because her father was recovering from an illness, met Jack and they fast became BFF again. He needed a wife of convenience, so she agreed to marry him, so he wouldn't lose the farm. Old storyline, a lot of authors use this storyline of needing a wife of convenience, but I'm a sucker to read them anyway. I find them fun, and "Sweet Cotton Candy" reads, because they always fall in love in the end and live happier ever-after! And now who doesn't like a happy ending?!

I awarded this story 3*** This book is part of my Kindle library.

Maddison has moved away from her small farm life and lives in the big city. But when she has a horrible break up she decides to at least come home for a long visit. Upon arriving home she runs into her childhood friend Jack, whose father has recently passed away. There is no love lost between Jack and his father, especially when Jack finds out that in his father's will it states he must be married to get the ranch. Maddison takes a leap of faith and offers to marry Jack, which her family is thrilled about. The only catch being she saw a family in her future and Jack is adamant about not having kids. This a short but sweet romance where everyone actually communicated everything but there was still drama to be had and a nice love story as well. Am gonna check out the next book in the series.
