Finding Delight is a 135-page soft cover modern coffee table book dedicated to the joy of finding delight in everyday life. With a full-color photograph on every page, topics include: "Living A Life of Layers," "Visual Vitamins" and "The Power of Cute."
"I believe that the best life is a varied life. When hobbies and travel collide with friendship and collecting. Where sugar rules and stories matter. I've been writing about Finding Delight for years and I have woven my methods and mantra into these pages. As you read, pay attention to the pages that capture your imagination. Notice how happy you can feel, simply by thinking, by remembering. I find delight all over my life...at different times of day, in different cities and settings, with people that I love and in strangers that I meet. This is delight." - Anne Reeves
I am sentimental, passionate and devoted to bringing you Moments of Delight in my blog of the same name. These are my photographs, words and recipes. I have written and photographed 3 books - all available on Amazon! I knit, sew, glue, tape, plant, bake, buy, try, think, feel, and live like I am starring in my own movie.
Coffee table type book with photographs and personal comments by the author. I've met the author is passing through the Junior League, but this book really gave me insight into her personality and worldview. I fell in love with her and her "moments of delight". I also really liked her sense of casual elegance and theory about naming things.
The book had a couple JLB references and I think I was at a couple of the events referenced! I remember the leadership training with the hand cookies. :-) There were also references to yoga and Michigan State. (Not my favorite) :-/
In today's instagram world, the photos were just nice. It is the comments and personal reflections that really elevate the book. The author constantly tries to uplift the reader and get her to notice the beauty around herself. To engage the world around her. There were a couple crafts I want to try. And a few recipes thrown in.
My copy came with a handwritten note from the author and I started reading it during an outdoor concert & picnic in the park with my family -- the perfect setting! It did occur to me that some people might consider this #CandyForRichWhiteWomen. But whatever, haters are gonna to hate. It had a positive and pleasant tone throughout.
I did notice minor spacing, punctuation and editing issues throughout the book. And the pages aren't numbered, so it was hard to keep track of where you were in the book. Or note pages to review again later.
At $35 plus $10 shipping, the little book wasn't cheap. But I find myself wanting to buy additional books in the future. (She has a series.) The author succeeded in giving me moments of delight.
This would be a great gift book for the women in your life who intentionally live beautiful lives.
