I have to say, first off, I really liked this series. That being said, I also really hated it. Everything felt rushed; each "novelette" was barely a chapter. Had the author taken the time to expand on things, the series had the potential to be great, but sadly fell short. I was extremely disappointed in the battles. Like another reviewer said, everything was horribly anticlimactic. Youre set up and so excited only to be disappointed. If Rashelle Workman had taken the time to truly write this book, it would have been amazing. I feel like it was more a detailed outline of a book to come. Very unsatisfying.
Overall I enjoyed the series but the last few novelettes felt anticlimactic and this one felt too neat and tidy. Some parts were overly cheesy, some things felt choppy.
Each book felt like several chapters of one large book that was in need of some continuity editing. I would suggest that in the future the author work on giving each novelette a clear beginning middle climax and end.
Updated 2/19. According to the author's blog: "Writing a novella is awesome. The mechanics in writing a novella and a novel are the same. There's a beginning. A middle. And, an end"
This is so not the case with her novellettes, which she considers short novellas. I suggest purchasing the 12 "book" set, as I said earlier, it's basically one long story.
Wow what an ending. There were twist and surprises I just didn't see coming. I enjoyed reading all of these volumes, sad that it's now over :(
Snows character was great, there were moments that I was like "really girl" but she was just trying to figure things out. There were questionable characters, some I grew to like and others I learned to dislike.
The ending of the book was cute, I wonder what will happen next. Great book, it was a bit fast paced but it solved most of the questions and things were resolved, maybe there was a happily ever after, I guess you'll have to read to find out :)
(Source: I own a copy of this book.) This was an okay end to the series, but I’m kind of glad that it’s over, I’ve been getting a bit bored with these books. Can’t say that I was all that impressed with the cliff-hanger at the end either. I thought this was supposed to be the end?! Overall; okay end, and I’m glad it’s over, 6 out of 10.
The end has finally come. Snow White must decide how she will restore the balance of magic to all the creatures and free those imprisoned in the realm of Sharra. Snow must also decide what lies in her heart. She believes she is in love with the vampire Christopher, but is he he true love? The end of book 11 showed her that Dorian held more love in his heart for her than she imagined possible. He sacrificed himself to save her, which actually revealed to Snow that she had stronger feelings for Dorian than she had known. Which man is or was her true love? If Dorian was her true love, is it even possible for the Vampire Queen to complete the ritual to take over Snow's body?
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, if you couldn't tell. I liked the ending, but RaShelle definitely left it open for more to happen. I know it is a YA series, but I kind of wish that the end has gone a little more into the adult realm just because I felt that it was appropriate. A great series that is inexpensive and quick/easy to read.
So I’m going to review this entire set all together because really each installment was just too short to stop and write a review. I don’t think I would’ve made it all the way through if I had done that. That being said, I enjoyed this series for it’s straightforwardness. There were times that Snow went back and forth between men, but I think it was always pretty clear that her true love was going to be Dorian. I picked up on it by the time I hit Revenant in Training. So much happens in the series, but I will say that there was great character building especially for everything being set up in such short novellas. For being so many installments it was a surprisingly quick read, and I did enjoy reading them. I would recommend just buying the complete set instead of buying each one individually especially because it was obnoxious having to keep moving to the next one. I just wanted to be able flip the page! Overall, I would give the series 3 stars. It wasn’t spectacularly amazing, but it was a good quick read that I did enjoy overall despite it being a bit juvenile.
writing just as bad as the previous book...it would have been nice to end on a high note...good new, not EVERY and has a comma before it...that is REALLY annoying! there are more comma-free and's in this one than the last one, and there are NO instances of Workman using "brother's" instead of "brothers"!!!! yay!
although there are some REALLY stupid mistakes! ooo, here's one i saw last night... Pops,' -that's right, it was supposed to be Pops' (possessive) AND THEN the comma....Pops',...i can't FATHOM what she was thinking or how these things happened, but there are stupid mistakes ALL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!!
Ok, this was a good series. It had the potential to be GREAT because of the creativity and writing, but breaking it into installments wasn't the best. It was choppy, there wasn't enough expansion to important details and it just didn't flow. If all if these had been made into 2 books- probably not three, it could have been really wonderful. I also didn't love the ending...not enough drama with it (loved some of the happier parts though). That being said; I did enjoy it, they are all quick reads and I don't feel like I wasted my time at all. Very creative and interesting. I may read some of the spin off works because I enjoyed it.
Finally we are face to face with the Vampire Queen. Snow is conflicted with emotion and decisions on how to defeat the Queen, or make her step down. We find out Christopher was just slimy and good at what he does, and sadly some people are sacrificed. I wish the end was a little more lengthy, but for the most part it wrapped up well. There were still some questions unanswered...and her true love...well...it was a good choice, but not quite the choice I was hoping for.
I picked up the entire series from 1-12 on Amazon for $0.99. Best dollar I ever spent. I loved the series. The first few I was disappointed that the girl was so young and a bit too intimate with her crushes for a 15 year old. However, by book 5 she is 18 and it didn't bother me as much at that point. She never actually does the deed with her crush just some steamy kissing. The whole series was a fun read. I couldn't put it down and read it every opportunity I had. I will definitely be looking into other books from thi author.
Wow! This book had so much awesomeness to it. Abernathy, you and you're many secrets. Finally Snow become brave and the Vampire Queen who was boss. Dorian... such a hottie. What a man! True love will always prevail. I really enjoyed all of these stories. I need to read more though. I'm curious about Cinder and Gabe. Kenmei and Aurora. Dorian and Snow. Ariel and her husband - what will he do when he finds out she's alive. Will Ariel's father plan to overthrow or kill Snow now???? So many questions. lol.
I loved this book. It was definaltely one of my favorites. I'm sad to see the series end but to finally find out what happens was kool. I really hope there will be a spin off. If you haven't read any of the Blood and Snow series I highly recommend them to Ya-Adult readers! I enjoyed this vampire story even tho it's a bit different, the characters and the story line it's keep on egde wanting more n more!!! Enjoy your time with Snow and her friends I did!!!!
The only complaint I have with this series is that it ended to quickly. You get so invested In the story and characters that you want to know more details, however I realize this series goes into other series and I can see there will be mention of the characters within those books so I'll happily read on until I am sated I suppose.
Refreshing storyline overall. Cliche in parts but I kind of liked that about. New twist on old tales sort of thing.
Snow goes after the queen alone because she doesn't want to put anyone else in danger but she really didn't think things through. She does end up figuring most things out, despite people dying and a major betrayal.
So there were some random Disney name drops that didn't really fit, a lot of the things that happened didn't seem to have any buildup or foreshadowing and just didn't really make any sense. The series does continue so maybe things will become more clear.
ahhh loved it!!!!! but "the end... or is it?" what is that????? lol is it because there is still Cindy witch to be published or will there be more books on snow? I so hope there would be more I don't think the story is over yet I wanna hear about snow being queen and definitely more of snow and Dorian!! lol
I really liked this book. I enjoyed the spin from the traditional Snow White and the seven dwarfs that we are used to but I feel like this series ended too quickly. I was looking for more and I have so many unanswered questions. I think there needs to be an extension of this book, it begs for more but I did thoroughly enjoy reading all 12 works
I really hope this wasn't the end because if it was, I feel like there were still some questions and the story itself was resolved too quickly. I loved the story but there's so much more that can be done. I did see that there is spinoff with Cindy and plan to read that. Maybe that will answer some of my questions.
I enjoyed this book very much! Again my only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. Even though I'm done with the series I feel there's still some questions left unanswered. I hate when authors do that! But I'm happy Snow made a choice and everyone lives happily ever after! I recommend this series if you like vampire stories. It's a fun twist on a well known story.
Really awesome story and I really like the characters!!! Original and surprising, I couldn't guess what would happen at all. I really like the fact that we see a little of disney princess other than Snow White! So definitly a must-read!!!
The ending to this story was pretty good and I can't wait to read the season 2 books! Snow may not have gotten everything she expected to, but I believe everything worked out the way it should have for this mini series.
This is part 12, the last novelette of Blood and Snow. Overall I liked the series. I felt the last couple novelettes, especially this one, felt anticlimactic. Overall I give the series 3 stars so I went ahead and rated this story the same as the others.
Loved the series, but wish the novellas had been actual books with more fleshing out of the story and the characters. I read this one in about an hour. I'd love for the story to continue as an actual novel. And there's so much room to branch off with the remaining 6 "brothers".
It was such a rushed ending with so many things left unanswered or explained. I know they are novellas, but 70 pages wasn't enough to do it justice. Kinda disappointed.
