A drawn out conflict between Inspector Simon Webster and Chief Inspector Damien Rose ultimately results in a career ending posting for Webster. Seeking retribution, Webster, with the support of his Sergeant, Noel Elliott, endeavours to undermine Rose’s credibility with the police hierarchy. Unfortunately things don’t go according to plan and, with Rose’s credibility already under investigation, Webster is drawn into a web of corruption, extortion, blackmail and conspiracy to murder. With the help of a police informant, Ron Lange, Webster draws on all his experience and skill to prevent bloodshed and put a stop to an endless round of corruption and blackmail.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
John Henderson was born in Singleton, New South Wales. The family moved to the town of Yass soon afterwards where he spent his younger days before a further move, this time to Sydney. John went to Manly Boys’ High School, represented the District in cricket and spent time surfing. He joined the Army in 1968 and toured Vietnam in 1969-70. After a brief stint in the Commonwealth Public Service, and with his dry, cynical sense of humour, John chose to write crime satire. The Simon Webster Fiascos represent an amusing and skeptical view of life and bureaucratic nonsense, as viewed by the author.
A few typos/editing/spelling type mistakes but not too bad. Story about a couple of police inspectors, their wives and jobs, their animosity towards a boss that they find is not one of the good guys.
