Quick paced thriller

Don't usually like medical book dramas but this took me in from the first page. I was up until 2am trying to find out how it all ended. Wow what a twist of an ending. Fabulous read.

I liked this book a lot, for a fiction book, it's not far from what I believe as true life history.

Faye has a successful career in pharmaceuticals. Alex is an up & coming resident at John Marshall Hospital. Neither one knows the other. But that’s about to change in a big way.
When her father comes up missing, Faye does what any good daughter would do & launches her own investigation. With the assistance of her lifelong friend, Arnie, she begins to explore misgivings about a doctor her father was seeing. Something about his practice just seems off to Faye. Simultaneously, Alex begins to connect cases he’s seen in the ER. Patients are suffering seizures & hallucinating, mentioning El Dorado. A chance meeting brings the two together & they quickly realize that they’re on the same team.
When it becomes evident that Faye & Alex can only rely on one another, they combine information. There is evil lurking in the medical field & Faye & Alex are on borrowed time. What is El Dorado & how does father’s father fit in? The answer to these questions will simply blow your mind.
Do not read this book in the dark or before bed! It is a realistic, entirely possible plot with a truckload of suspense. On several occasions, I thought I had it figured out, only to be thrown into a tailspin. Medical knowledge, historical background, & good old-fashioned mystery are swirled together to make this a home run for Mick Bose.
Effortlessly, he combines three different characters’ storylines. Strong, capable heroine, Faye, & adventurous, handsome Alex are a terrific duo & play well off one another. Hopefully, we’ll see them pop up again to tackle the world’s evils. If you are a fan of medical thrillers, historical mysteries or both, you won’t want to miss this one! I rate it 5 of 5 stars.

Am I the only one who gets SO wrapped up in these thrillers that I’m compelled to read them straight through. When thrillers are well written, such as this one, I get so engaged with the story that it’s difficult for me to pull myself out of it to run errands, etc. I just want to read and read until the story is resolved. The plot is fast paced, the characters are absolutely believable, you feel like you are in danger with them!

When Faye’s father turns up missing, she is compelled to do what any of us would do in the situation, and she begins searching for him. As she’s looking into it, she starts to get a bad vibe that her intuition won’t let her ignore. She sees a pattern emerge and she must investigate further. This, of course, puts her in danger. The twists and turns that the plot takes made me remind myself that this is FICTION and not real life!

As far as I know, this is the only book Mick Bose has written, but I do hope he is working on another. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and am ready to read another.

I received an e-copy of this book for the purpose of facilitating this review. Regardless, all thoughts and opinions expressed are solely my own and are never influenced by outside sources.

What an action packed, page turner of a book. Just when you think things are going to be ok...guess again. Who do you trust??
Dr Faye Duncan, has taken what she considers a safe job, and working decent hours, at a pharmaceutical company. Where as, Dr Alex Querci, a resident intern is hoping to be assigned to the ER at John Marshall Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Their paths cross, in an unexpected way and are thrown together, throughout the drama. Wow, the scary part of this story is that it could be true? All of it, we all now of faked drug trials. The side effects of the drugs that happen after they are released, and yet the were previously known. It all comes down to money.
This story is well researched, and the characters have a lot of depth. The author did a great job of bringing them to life, A great story, from beginning to end. If you enjoy a good book full of suspense, this one is for you!

I received this book through Orangeberry Blog Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

I had a difficult time getting into this book. There were a lot of characters and story lines and none of them seemed to go together. It was slow going for the first 40 pages or so but once Faye and Alex met I really started to enjoy the book.

There is a lot of action in this book. People are dying, patients are turning up missing from the hospital, and people you trust are turning out to be at the center of the mysterious trial. Alex and Faye have stumbled onto a medical trial that is causing patients to have seizures. Pair that with the fact that Faye's missing father may have been taken into the trials against his will and the couple are racing against time to save him and the other patients that are part of the trial.

We learn about the pawns in the medical trial scheme and slowly unravel a story that goes back decades, all the way to the 1940's. I had no idea who was at the center of the trials and when I found out I was very surprised! It definitely kept me reading to the end to find out what was going to happen next.

I give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
