Kind, beautiful warlock Chance Christianson has spent a year trying to heal from the pain of losing his boyfriend to a random attack of violence. He has found a home with firefighters Locke Renfro and Logan MacLeod and has slowly put his life back together. Even more wondrous, he has fallen in love again - this time with gorgeous werewolf Logan. If only Logan would look at him that way....
Logan MacLeod has spent several years with his pack and others fighting deadly rogue werewolves across the country. He knows that they are vicious killers whose sole purpose on Earth is to cause others pain and heartache. The bright spot in his life is sweet, trusting Chance Christianson, the incredibly handsome warlock whose heart has been broken. When they discover mutual feelings for each other, it would seem that life is finally getting better.
But Logan is guarding a secret that is guaranteed to drive Chance away. While his intentions may have been good, how can he hurt the best thing in his life by revealing it? And how will he survive without Chance's love?
I have been blessed in this life to not only have parents that support me, but kids that do as well. I grew up in a loving but "Old School" French household. My parents worked for the airlines (TWA) so I was able to see a lot of Europe as a kid. I moved to Seattle Washington at the age of 22 and stayed there for twelve years before moving to Alaska for a little over two. Fairbanks, AK was one hell of an experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back! I spent a little over a year in South Carolina before moving back to Arizona. I then left for Kansas for five years and now reside in Arizona. I've been connected to the military in one way or another for over half my life and wouldn't change a thing about it. Writing has become my full time job and I've never been so happy doing a job I love and being able to do it in my jammies. I plan on writing until I dry up and die. Hopefully, that won't happen soon!
It was okay. but my lack of enthusiasm may have more to do with not really getting into the whole witches and warlock theme. Plus I just didn't feel the connection between Chance and Logan. Oh well, can't love em all. I still love the series though.
Chance, Chance, Chance, I liked you, why did you have to be so stupid at times? Granted, I would also be major peeved that everyone held stuff back from me but after yelling about how they treat you like a kid and you aren't, could you maybe not act like little kid? *bangs head on wall* You had a crap boyfriend and now all these wonderful people that love you and are your family, friends and lover and they tell you he is a bad guy and YOU DON'T LISTEN. Actually, this made no sense to me. I think this is a place the author could have done better. Chance has seen that they have files on the rogues. They tell him that Pierce has a record. But he never demands to see it? No, that right there does not work for me, because Chance wasn't stupid.
Now...what is up with all these people who we know belong together not recognizing each other as mates? Why are the rules changing? I want explanations. Er, I may be a book or two ahead with this gripe though.

Just... wow! This book was like an overload of emotions. You'll laugh, you'll cry(!) like there's no tomorrow, and you WILL be angry! Just the same as you'll feel goofy and happy as all h*ll of course..
Like every other book in the Assassin/Shifter series, the author makes this one very special. There's new characters, side stories and new unexpected events popping up. She just never cease to amaze me! If you've been following these series you'll be happy to see old friends doing good with their mates. Plus of course the new "yet to be mated" ones ;-)
I won't say anything about what happens in the book (been tortured for a long time waiting for it myself)all I'll say is that it is an ABSOLUTE must read. And if you've only just started to read the Assassin/Shifter series, then YOU my friend, have a LOT to look forward to!
3.5 stars. This installments sees the fight with the Rogues ramped up. Pierce and the Rogues are fighting the good guys and they are trying to get to Chance before he comes into his powers on his 21st birthday. In the meantime, Logan is stubbornly holding Chance at arm's length because he thinks he still has feelings for Pierce. They have all made the decision to not tell Chance that Pierce is alive (that actually happened in the previous story) and you know that can never lead to anything good.
I really liked how all the guys came together and protected Chance and Logan and the climactic fight was pretty scary. Honestly this one really felt like I was reading a screenplay - I could see the movie happening ;)
I can't wait for the next installment because I have been waiting patiently for Kory and his mate to get together and I want Will to have a good guy too!
3.5 stars. I loved the beginning (with Nikolai), and I liked when the action really picked up. I, of course, loved every time Devin and Andrei were in the same vicinity. The witch/warlock stuff was a little slow for me, but that also got better near the end. Running to finish the next one!
As much as im enjoying the series i hate the books where the literally reject their mates for some stupid reason. So this one Logan wasnt going to let chance know hes interested because heaven forbid he had an ex. They deliberately hid that his ex was alive. Also wasnt going to make a move but it was Chance that was hung up on his ex. Just stupid story lines like that frustrating.. hraven forbid you tell him the truth. Oh thats right hes got a saviour complex
Another great add to the series. Chance Christianson and Logan MacLeod have a awesome story! This adds new sides to the supernatural world they live in. This new added element is exciting and I want to know more. Chance is sweet and perfect and Logan is heartbreaking at how much he loves. Can't wait for the next.
Not one of my faves of the series but a must read if you are a big fan of the series. Chance is a about to be powerful warlock and an old flame wants his power.
I don't particularly like witches/warlocks but I did enjoy this book. The Whole keeping Pierce a secret was stupid and you just had to know it would come back and bite you in the ass.
There’s a huge amount of recapping of previous plots and who’s who in this. Not in detail, thank god, but I wonder why this pops up now. I don’t recall these inserts from previous books. Is it because the series has gone on so long and this is meant to help people start in the middle? Seems slightly odd because the major backdrop is not actually explained. Or maybe I am just not noticing (which would be a sign of it being done right, whee). And what’s with none of the newer pairs feeling the mate bond anymore? Did the author decide it’d reduce the tension too much? Weird.
I’m also confused about some things. So Locke’s guys had the anti-shark-bite gloves two years previously? I thought they only got them developed after joining up with Wayne’s pack. Did I misread that? Then there’s Chance. I remembered him as pretty badass in his own right. Now he is someone who blushes shyly and shuffles his sneakers. Okay then. Although, if he is that youthful his friendship with Nikolai makes slightly more sense, I suppose.
By the way, keeping information from people who are perceived to require coddling is one of the disturbing trends in this series. This frustrates me. In many cases arming someone with information would avoid all the bad stuff that results from blithe ignorance. Idiots. (Plus, if you’re hot for a young dude, treat him like a freaking adult, please. Otherwise this is somewhat creepy.)
Uh, okay. So apparently in the afterlife you spend your time going golfing instead of grabbing the chance to see your son after who knows how long of being deceased. Sure. Seriously, golf? I am appalled.
And what’s this nonsense about being unusually coherent for a rogue? They all seem that way to me. They’re just jerks, is all.
Midnight? Why midnight of Chance’s birthday? The moment when the date switches over is an arbitrary point. I mean, do they observe daylight savings time or not? Silly. It should be the exact time of birth, not midnight – and not by the hour of the clock (where we’d have to consider DST and time zone), but the actual moment wherever in the world it happened, just twenty-one years later.
And then things just peter out. This of course is not new. These books almost always go on and on and on. Way after any tension has been resolved we get lots of mushiness and sex and love and scenes that go halfway into some setup for another book that may or may not take five volumes to come about yet. Everything is drawn out until you have to wonder at people and their lack of initiative. This is not really to my liking – and not simply because I tend to dislike teasers or elaborate setups outside of the book in which the actual couple gets together. Once you pitch a future couple and they’re all hot for each other and then take years until they do something about it… I just don’t get that. It sucks all the excitement and credibility out of it.
So this was okay, certainly. It was overflowing with mushy stuff and superpowers and the usual. That’s all right; it’s how this series operates and in a way that’s reassuring. But the story simply failed to grip me emotionally in any way. And now we have another double feature coming up, burning two characters I was looking forward to. T_T
Gasq-Dion has done it again! This time we get to ride along with Logan MacLeod; extremely hot werewolf and rogue hunter as he and the rest of the pack prepare to take out the rogue's that have been kidnapping and experiementing on were pups, whiping out their families in the process. Along for the ride is young and inexperienced were slash warlock Chance Christianson. These two were instantly enamoured with each other several books back; if they could just get past the "he's too good for me" mindset they've both adapted.
There's just a couple teensy tiny issue's standing between this pair and eternal happiness. Sadly, they aren't mated but that doesn't stop the instant, mutual, intense attraction they share; as well as Logan's insane need to protect Chance. Chance as well realizes he has strong feelings for Logan, but he can't seem to forget his first love, the man he believes to be dead, Pierce. Logan and Nikoli Markov, Chance's best friend, along with the other pack members decide it's in Chance's best interest not to share with him that not only is Pierce alive, but he's the leader of the rogue were's.
As things heat up and Pierce sets his sites on Chance, Logan and the other weres, as well as Nick and the ever growing Skull Blasters team will stop at nothing to protect the inexperienced Warlock from his evil ass ex. When Chance finds out the truth and goes to Pierce he inadverdently puts not only his on life, but fellow pack mate Jude's at risk. After dozen's of successful missions, nine lives and too many close calls to count; will all the Assassins and Shifters make it out of this one alive? Or will we have to say goodbye to one of the fierce hunter, alpha males we've grown to love.
Gasq-Dions trademark humor and bantor between characters is instantly recognizable as we get to go another round, another mission with out band of brothers and packmates. With the usual love story of the two main characters taking center stage, we still have the lives of all our other guys revolving in the background. Some of our boys are fixing to become Daddies! And some of our boys just can't manage to get past, the past.
We get a nice long sneak peak at the next book, Summer of Awakenings, at the end as well. Kory and Jacob; Will and Seth. I have a feeling there will be a sprinkling of Nick and Collin thrown in there for good measure, and here's hoping for a little Andrei and Devin heat for all us Lyon's fans! There are still several "connections" that have been hinted at in previous books that have yet to come full circle, and Gasq-Dion has created a few more with this latest installment! Summer of Awakenings is out February 2013, not nearly soon enough!
It’s like having a beautiful woman but she’s wearing an overly busy dress with too much jewelry. You’re so busy looking at all the jewelry and ruffles and patterns, you don’t see the beautiful woman. This is how I describe this book. Great plot, actually one of the best! However, so much unnecessary side stories, back histories and characters that you zone out.
I understand it’s necessary to sow seeds for future book, but this is getting convoluted. I have been reading them one after another and I’m still confused about who is who and with whom. I believe on the first page; five characters are thrown at you. Should I know them? I recognise some of the names but this isn’t TV so I haven’t got a face to go with the names. I don’t remember them because they’ve been introduced to fast previously.
I’m not a fan of magic being brought into the current stories. The tone of the book was similar to watching a teen soap opera or an episode of Buffy.
The plot itself is actually one of the best. Chance’s journey of discovery, both of his powers and, after his boyfriend’s death. Chance learning he likes Logan but thinks Logan doesn’t like him and Logan thinking the same. Then, you get the spanner in the works, not only does Chance’s boyfriend turn up alive, but Logan already knows it and has kept it from Chance. This is really good! It’s such a strong plot with a lot of dramatic potential.
Chance isn’t a character I could identify with. I kept waiting for the tantrum and the overreaction. He was like one of those annoying teenagers in a horror movie who does the thing you wouldn’t do in real life and you scream at the TV. If you’d swapped Chance with a 14 year old girl, the scenes would have been the same. I like real life responses and actions, even in a werewolf/magic story, more so in fact, it’s needed to ground the reader in some normality.
Nikoli Markov stands out once again, and although I’m way behind in the series and his story has been told (Book 17), I hope the story is kept between just him, Colin and his attempt to win him over.

I just picked up this one as the first book I read of this series so that might made me bias against the plot but here is what I thought.
The reasoning for keeping such secret was rather weak.
There were a lot going on and the book wasn't just focused on the main MCs. Chance was approaching 21 and I have no idea how old Logan was. The way the pack as a whole dealt with Chance made me rate the book mediocre.

This book focuses on the sweet warlock/shifter Chance. Chance's parents died in an explosion when he was a teenager, and he could not stay there anymore. Wandering, Logan found him trying to get people out of a burning building and he has been with him and Locke ever since. He had one boyfriend who turned him and then apparently died in an attack in which Chance got away. A year later he is falling for Logan hard, but he does not think Logan even sees him. While Logan and Locke are away in Arizona, Nikolai and Chance are attacked by rogues, and the group decides to protect Chance by taking him and all of them to Alaska. Chances powers are growing, along with his desire for Logan. When Chance makes a bad choice, will it forever keep Logan from him? And what do you do when the cards are dealt and there is no way to survive? Can Chance ever get his happily ever after? And what would you do for love? This book is so good, you better be able to read it front to back in one sitting because you can't put it down! I have read this at least 10 times, and its still gold!
This book was a lovely surprise, I really enjoyed it. This is the second time I've read it and loved it just as much as last time. There are so many characters from the previous books in here to add depth to the story and to flesh it out.

I highly recommend this series, but be warned there are a lot of books. For those who haven't read this series, this book doesn't stand alone, too many things happened in the past to really understand the plot and way to many characters to keep straight.
Again with the big age gap? And the different body size and shape?
Alpha male wants smaller guy inside him! Cool!
Interesting that they're not fated mates in the beginning.
Cheating. (Kissing)
If there's a bedroom, why are they sleeping on the pull out couch?
4 year-olds shouldn't have lost their front teeth already.
All these books have major info dumps, poor segues that are rather random. Head hopping mid paragraph. Thinking a bad headache equals migraine (which it can be but isn't always and usually is a lot more). So hard to keep the names straight as there are so many characters and almost all are the same. I need a family/pack/character tree because most of the time I'm lost as to who is who. The only non-WASP white sounding names are Mateo from the first book and Nicolai which sounds too similar to Nicholas.
5 Stars what else could you give a book from this series being a serious fan.I loved this latest installment. The story of Logan Macloud "There can only be one Macloud" and Chance Christianson could only be explosive. The greatest rogue hunter/killer & the warlock. What else could it be.Who knew there would be little ones mixed in.In this series she answers so many questions but she leaves you with so many more unanswered. She always leaves you in suspense panting for the next release of the next book. That is why I love this author so much. This is such a sexy enchanting series. She is just going to have to work kilts into the storylines some how for some of these shifters....hmmm that would be great anyone of them could pull it off....
Ahh Chance and Logan. I was looking forward to their story as I had actually encountered them in a later book (because I was bad and didn't read in order at first!). I felt so badly for Chance, he thought the guy he loved had been killed only to finally find out he was alive (a year after Logan had found out, can we say some tension was to be had?) and that he was actually a bad guy that tried to have him killed and never returned said love.
I felt the Warlock aspect was handled nicely, though I wish it had been covered a bit more.. would have been nice to actually have some of the spells actually worked out/shown to us instead of just hearing about it afterwards.
Holy &^%$. Whew..wow, what a ride this one was! If only everyone could have a man like Logan! Loved the book from beginning to end. Didn't put it down once. Then again, that's how it always is when I pick up a book from this author. I love Nikolai Markov in this one, his friendship with Chance is just precious! I can't wait for "Summer of Awakenings" I see some good story with Kory and Jacob (whom we met in Reflash) And little Will Cooper with six foot four Seth Ralston? ADORABLE. BRING IT ON!!!
This is my least favorite of the series although a definite must read if you are addicted to Assassin/Shifter series. These books to me are guilty pleasures and you really have to read all of them in order to keep up with all the characters. I can't help but buy them as soon as they come out to find out what comes next.
I am really looking forward to the next book. As always we got a sneak peek at the characters and how things are going to progress in the world of Assassin/Shifter and it has left me anxious to get it!
I have been working my way through this Assassin/Shifter series and have really enjoyed each book. I have occasionally got confused as to who belongs to who as there is so many characters involved but I quickly figure it out! This Series has totally surprised me as it's not my usual choice, yet each book has has a wonderfully addictive storyline which leaves me needing to start the next book straight away! I am hoping by the time I get to the last book on my Kindle the 22nd book will be available. Highly recommended!
Really liked Chance and Logan's story. They make a great couple. Loved that Chance is a warlock. That just adds a whole new layer to the series. One issue I have with this story is that at the beginning, Logan says he's going to wait for Chance to get past the loss of Pierce and then all of a sudden they were kissing and ended up having sex. It was very jarring and I actually had to flip back to make sure I hadn't missed some pages.
Logan and the Warlock Chase get together in this book. As my last few reviews have said this series is getting too far away from its original premise and the stories becoming too convoluted.
I will keep with them just to get to the Andre and Devlin and the Korey and Jacob books, hopefully they will be the next two.
Interesting series. I appreciated the recap of relationships since there has been a while since I read the previous books.
I enjoy this series. I love gay shifters. There are many recurring characters, but I like them. I like the way the different groups/packs keep working together against the greater evil. Good guys who are sexy.
