*I received this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.
So this is my first ever Lynne Scott Book, and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised!
Book Must Have Check List. Love: ✔ -Janice and Mac hit it off, it doesn't take long for Janice to make a move on that one. Plus we have another twist at the end. Death: ✔ - The only one I can mention without giving anything away is the two teenage girls who are killed in the beginning. Betrayal:✔ -Brother betrays Brother.
Right off the bat I had a connection with Janice. Her military life style was described to the tee. Being an Army Wife myself, and living the military life ,with deployments and such, I totally understood her. She does have ten years on me though!....Ok more like six years.
Janice in the beginning seem quite lonely, and it seems like Mac is the perfect distraction. It doesn't take long for Janice persuade Mac for a little one on one time, and soon takes the lead in their relationship. I did enjoy the transition through out the book oh Janices feeling. And how this situation made her realise that she needs to stop pushing everyone away.
Mac and Janices wonderful night soon turns sour ,when Macs 13 year old daughter, Emily, enters the scene. Her disrespect of Janice draws a thin line between father and daughter. Emily being mad at her father decided to skip school. Luckily for her Janice spots her just as a handful of boys corner Emily into an Alley. Janice goes in full throttle, ruffing up the boys. But an even darker evil enters into their lives. Next thing you know, both Janice and Emily awaken inside the trunk of a car. And are soon duct taped and lead into an abandoned trailer. Now it's up to Janice to get Emily out alive.
Mac, the police and Janice' s boss and co-worker from her Body Guard job are on the hunt for the women. But it takes one brother to betray the other, for all Hell to break lose! Janice would fight to the death to save Emily, and that is what she intends to do!
The moral of this story is, if you ever get kidnapped or mugged, take Janice Bracken with you!
I enjoyed it I enjoyed the human side of the characters and the development of the stories. It was well written and kept me entertained till the end. I hope there are more of these characters.
