Noah loved this book, it has dinosaurs and a nanny in it. He also learned about water slides for the first time and started imagining he was on one!

Harry and the Dinosaurs Make a Splash is a nice story about Harry and his dinosaurs who get frightened of the water after a big wave takes them by surprise.

The children enjoy these series of books and I think this is one of the better stories. As with all of them, they're not always the easiest to read as I've not perfected the pronunciation of the dinosaur names yet but they love seeing all of Harry's dinosaurs and the adventures they go on.

It's lovely how within this story we get to see Harry and his dinosaurs learn that it is good to try again with swimming even if it didn't go as expected the first time. I think it's great for the children see this kind of attitude and determination as it encourages them not to give up and they thought Harry should try again too as they think swimming is fun!

The illustrations are fun and colourful which makes the book so appealing for the children. The dinosaurs are also another reason why they love these books too! It was fun for them to see the dinosaurs and Harry in the water as it reminded them of the fun they have at the pool.

The children enjoyed this book and seeing the fun Harry and the dinosaurs had, particularly nearer the end. I'm sure we'll read this book along with the others in the series many times!

Lovely story about Harry and his dinosaur friends set at Water World where they really enjoy playing in the waves. However when a big wave knocks them all over, they don't think it's quite such fun! Harry isn't sure he wants to go in the water again, but with a little help from his Grandma (Nan), he and his friends overcome their nerves and go on to make the biggest splash of the day!

Lovely book which could be used alongside lessons on bravery or used before the class start swimming lessons. Lots of opportunities for predictions and discussion.

Harry and the Dinosaurs Make a Splash is part of the Harry and the Dinosaurs series of picture books, but this was the first one we'd read. Harry has a collection of toy dinosaurs who are his friends, he takes them everywhere. In this story, he and his older sister Sam go with their grandmother to the indoor Water World. He and the dinosaurs are having loads of fun until a big wave came and knocked them all over.

They run back to Nan and she tries to coax them into another pool, but they all hate the water now. After an ice cream distraction, she again tries to encourage Harry and the dinosaurs to get back in the water, but Harry tells her he'll only go in if she comes too. It's been a while since Nan's been swimming and she's a bit hesitant, but in the end she gets herself a yellow swimsuit and a pair of arm floaties and they all go down the big water slide together, and make a big SPLASH at the other end.

This is a fun story, a nice blend of realistic family dynamics (the grouchy older sister, the lovely nan who joins in the fun, plenty of insecurities at play) and an encouraging message of how to overcome fear. There's also a double-page spread at front and back that show all Harry's dinosaurs and their names, with pronunciation guide. I picked this up for a dollar at the op-shop and it was a good find. My two-year-old enjoyed it but slightly older children (four year olds perhaps) would get even more out of it.
