For a first time author, and a self-published book, this was a LOT of fun! A great way to share some valuable life lessons with everyone! I was impressed with Bobby James' ability to connect all those important principles of success in one very fun story. I can't wait for any and all my kids to read this, so we can talk about it!

Fun, surprise ending!

After his family is brutally killed, Shinhon vows to avenge their death. He seeks the Master’s help who agrees to help him if he commits himself to becoming his apprentice. In “8 Wisdoms: The greatest adventure is the search for wisdom”, written by Bobby Glen James, we follow Shinhon as he travels, under the guidance of the Master, in search of the 8 Wisdoms.

In a relatively small book, Bobby Glen James managed to include so many insightful messages that can truly help the reader see the world more clearly and more positively. All the wisdoms connect to one another and together they help us live more harmoniously. The amazing thing is that we might already know many of this lessons, but we easily forget them. We should always remember that our mind and body are connected, that a lot can be learned from failure, that hardships make our lives more fulfilling, that the spirit is here to guide us, that a lot of happiness can be felt through service, that we should forgive and, must of all, we should love ourselves and others. These are just a few of the strong messages present in this book and they are all taught in an interactive way through Shinhon’s travels, his actions and the people he meets.

I did feel that the writing dragged on sometimes, especially because large portions of text were written only in short, simple sentences. This reduced its fluidity and made the reading a bit tiring at some points. Some parts were also a bit repetitive, but that was a way to make the reader assimilate the information given. I also didn’t quite appreciate when the author made use of the stories of “Jack and the Beanstalk” and “Humpty Dumpty” to illustrate one of his messages. I thought that this lesson could have been taught in a similar, yet less obvious, way.

Despite these issues, “8 Wisdoms” is still a really inspiring story that compels us to be a better version of ourselves. It teaches us that knowledge only turns into wisdoms if you know how to use it and that we shouldn’t hold any grudges. It is a story of love, commitment and persistence that I highly recommend. It will certainly enlighten you!
