“The next time someone knocks at the front door, would you just do the doggy thing and bite them? Please?”
Stefan de Marco and Lucifer Fireborn are back for this third installment of The Magic Users of Greenford trilogy. You’d have thought things would’ve quietened down by now. But no. Along with Creed – Stefan’s canine familiar – they embark on a final case that threatens to undermine everything to do with the Anchor Division, and even what it means to be a Fireborn.
“My name is Stefan de Marco, and I was born into the Trades Sector.”
Stefan has always known who he is and what he stands for. When Lucifer accepts a case, working for the Brethren – the organization that wants to see anchors like Stefan dead or enslaved - he’s understandably angry. But trying to get Lucifer to understand the enormity of what he’s done is going to take a lot more than a few cross words.
…You and Stefan need to be on the same page before the plane lands in Florida…
Lucifer knows he loves his mate and anchor. As far as he’s concerned that’s all that’s important. Stefan understands his need to work cases, helping to keep the innocent safe, so when Stefan gets angry with him over the new case he’d taken, Lucifer has to do some fast talking to make things right. But when Creed suggests there’s something lacking in their relationship, as well, Lucifer has to evaluate everything he’s ever learned, and even how he’s been raised.

Lisa Oliver had been writing non-fiction books for years when visions of half dressed, buff men started invading her dreams. Unable to resist the lure of her stories, Lisa decided to switch to fiction books, and now stories about her men clamor to get out from under her fingertips. When Lisa is not writing, she is usually reading with a cup of tea always at hand. Her grown children and grandchildren sometimes try and pry her away from the computer and have found that the best way to do it, is to promise her chocolate. Lisa will do anything for chocolate. Lisa loves to hear from her readers and other writers. You can friend her on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/lisaoliverauthor), or email her directly at yoursintuitively@gmail.com. Lucifer is finally making progress with his self-important attitude (though yes, some of his old self can be spotted here and there). I’m still not really a fan of him, especially at the start of this final book of the series with how easily he jumps into another case, and one for people you wouldn’t expect as well. It’s like he never seems to take Stefan’s feelings into account, which results—again—with stress in their relationship.
This time we do get more into the meat of things with the Brethren directly as things start to build towards a final climax for the series. I’ve got to wonder though how that organization has gotten as far as it has considering how inept they seemed when dealing directly with Lucifer and Stefan.
We can start to see now how Lucifer and Stefan are building more of that emotional connection I felt was quite lacking in the first two books. By the end I still didn’t fully feel it; it seemed more surface-level than a deep connection. Something though that I thought was less like their true characters was how easily now they were just using magic for simple things, off-the-cuff like it was no big deal…including in how they used it in tight situations. Previously, them using magic was more serious and saved for important, difficult situations and more defensively. Now they’re treating it as something to just help with everyday things, with magic just solving everything.
I did like the outcome at the end with the Council, even if it felt like it all was just being wrapped up with a big bow. I also liked seeing some new faces with Rocky and Neo, about whom I’m intrigued enough to want their story so I’ll be diving into the Fated Mates Anthology to check them out.
Overall the series is a good read, I just really wish a better connection could have been shown for Lucifer and Stefan.
In every installment of this series it seems that Lucifer keeps putting his foot in his mouth when it comes to magic users like himself and anchors. Also a lot of the issues that got brought up in the previous books were brought up again and again in this one. And there wasn't really any mystery that needed to be solved. It was mostly about tying up the loose ends from the previous books. This was an OK read. I have definitely read better Lisa Oliver books
Whilst I don't want to spoil the ending, we do know that with Lisa Oliver's stories there is always a happy ever after. I loved the book and the series, the growing relationship between arrogant L Fireborn and his powerful but disadvantaged anchor, I had no idea at 60% how the happy ever after was going to be achieved in the time.
The book had been full of twists and turns and near misses, uncovering plots and intrigue.
So whilst the series resolution for me came out of left field a bit and was definitely a fantasy that would not happen in real life; it was a fabulous scene/ chapter that left you feeling positive vibes full of hope and community. Nicely done.
Stefan and Lucifer find themselves facing the final parts of the Brotherhood and making some final decisions about themselves that truly being this trilogy together in the end!
There has been an ongoing issue in this series of Lucifer sort of just bulldozing over Stefan. Lucifer tends to think of his work and his methods first, bringing in Stephan after. Even knowing that they should be working together Lucifer tends to default to this. Lucifer and Stephan must finally face this and they do, which brings a great end by subverting the obvious story direction and putting the drama toward their connection instead of driving them apart. A great ending!
I really adore this author. I loved Coverleigh Pack. Gods made me do it. I read her Arrowtown and was somewhat disappointed, it felt underwhelming. Especially after her other series. But then i read this series and was like Lisa's back. Not sure if it was because she was finding her writers legs or just what. But, this series's has depth. Intrigue. Each book of the trilogy had couple development, character development and story development. Shes very good at complex world building and arrowtown just felt 1 dementional. By the end of the series i felt more connected but first few book were seriously meh.. this series was again. Lisa's back. N lisa style.
Loved it! I’m just sorry it’s the last of the trilogy.
Although you’ve finished Stephan’s & Lucifer’s story I hope you will consider other stories in their universe? Rocky & Neo or Foster & Ethan or Beau & unknown? I saw that there is a short story about Rocky & Neo, I will be looking for that!
I love your writing style, that you don’t shy away from trouble and still always find a HEA.
May the fountain of your inspiration never run dry!
Another gold star series! As with all other Lisa Oliver's writings, this is an excellent read from the first word of Illuminate through to the last word of Validate. Adding this as another favorite series. (Actually, all of Lisa Oliver's series are on that list.)!
This series! I loved it! Oh, the growth, in Lucifer (who so needed to wise up) and Stefan (who helps him do so), from books 1 to 3. They finally get their HEA! Lisa Oliver has done a fine job of world building and writing. I'd love to read more tales of the Greenford world. Nice cameo of Rocky and Neo, as well! Thanks, Lisa!
Oh my! This series was amazing! Stefan and Lucifer are absolute perfection. I love the world and everything about it. These two are taking on the injustices of their society and causing a revolution. 😍 You have to read these books but please read them in order.
I loved this series. I loved Lucifer and Stefan! I was sad when I finished reading the last book in this series. I did not want my visit with them to end. Their story kept my interest. Their relationship arc was sweet, funny and complicated. Lisa Oliver has created an interesting world.
The end of a wonderful magical series. We see that anchors are now getting word and help from the council. our characters keep us on the edge until the end.
This series was delightful, exciting and wholly amazing. I didn't want it to end. I hope that Lisa Oliver finds the muse and inspiration to add on to this series.
