Loved reading the story of the movie. I has seen the movie years back, didn't know there was also a book. Easy read and great for kids. Has action in it.
This was one of my favourite childhood films. When I noticed this (very old) copy in a secondhand bookshop I felt really excited, I had no idea the film was based on a book… well, it turns out… it isn’t. This book was actually based on the movie (written after the movie). Unusual. The story sticks to the script of the movie, and it is a great story. But the writing wasn’t inspiring - it really was all tell and no show. There was little to imagine or guess, it was all very matter of fact. I really wanted to give the book a higher rating but sadly I can’t. I probably wouldn’t have given it 3 stars… but the film… I kept thinking of it all the time I was reading. It was a great journey back to my childhood.
My friend whose son has to appear in an enterence exam for a high rated school asked to find a movie produced on the plot of this novel . Instead of finding the movie online. I offered that I would read the novel for your kid . So I read these 39 pages in an hour. It is an inspirational story but emotional too. And exlusively emotional for me cause I have also lost my mother two months back just like the lead character of the novel. The writing style is very light. Easily understandable for primary school children. The kid may imagine what is going on very easily because of the dynamic narration of the events. A must read for all the kids. Would be a great source of entertainment and enthusiasm in this age of androids.
FLY AWAY HOME is one of my favorite movies ever. So when I found out there was a book that I thought the movie was based on I definitely had to read it.
I have to say I was very disappointed in this book. I did not realize that the book was published a year AFTER the movie was released. This is not a movie based on a book - it's a book based on a movie, and reading the book is like reading a "book report" on the movie; IMO it's very "flat", no energy.
It's been a while since I've cried whilst reading a book.
Fly Away Home is one of my favourite films ever. And when I came across this book in my local free library, I knew I had to read it. I brought it home and waited till the perfect moment to read it. It did not dissappoint.
This book will not be going back to the free library, sorry. I will cherish it and re-read it a few more times, I'm sure.
NOTES: I was sorry about the character lost her mother. Moreover, her life became worse and worse because she hated her father. I like my father very much because he think about my own feelings. Therefore, I couldn't understand the main character. However, she saw some eggs without their mothers and she helped them. I thought she was full of love. she was thankful! After that, she and her father feed them and spent their lives with their geese. I had feelong that it was wonderful and difficult for them to feed their geese. I'll not be able to do like them, but I felt we shoud be kind not only to our families but also others. Finaly, it was great to teach geese how to fly. It's not easy. I thought mother could do everything.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 1. If you could fly away, where do you want to go? A. I want to go to Australia where I want to go to since I was a high school student.
2. What is the most important for you? A. It's the most important for me to smile and be happy about everything with my family and friends.

I already knew this story by watching movie when I was young. It was a great story in my memories, so I also wanted to read the story again by a book. This story is about one child and geese. The main character, Amy was living with her mom. However, after her mom died by accident, Amy had to live with her father. When Amy saw her father at the first time, she thought that her father was weird. He liked to fly with the airplane which he made by himself. One day, Amy found geese eggs on the ground and made a decision to raise them. The geese hatched and followed Amy like a baby follow his mother. The geese got bigger and bigger and they had to migrate to the warm region. Geese don't have mom geese so they did't know where to go. So Amy tried to learn how to fly with airplane. Amy's father was her good teacher. They practiced to make their geese fly well and it succeed by few days. During their journey, it was very hard to control airplane and geese, but all of them cooperate each other and finally the geese arrived at their new warm home safely. Amy was so sad to leave them, but on the next spring, the geese were back!

One day, she found seventeen goose's eggs. She picked up it and raised them. But goose could not live during winter, so they had to move to worm place... b,My favorite scene is the girl, her father and goose was flying in the sky together. One goose, Igor was not good at flying and he was often left behind. If not Igor went to warm place, he was going to die, so the girl, mother goose said to him " You must not be late". After that, exerting all his strength, he was flying by the girl! I was impressed that. 5.I read this story, I wanted to find something which I can become enthusiastic.
