My name is Derek Doepker and I am the creator of Excuse Proof Fitness at http://excuseproof.com as well as a fitness author specializing in overcoming everyday challenges to living a healthy lifestyle like limited time, limited budget, limited knowledge, or just plain lack of motivation.

I didn't always used to be an "expert" though. My passion for these things stems from my own struggle years ago living an unhealthy lifestyle and eating fast food every single night. I was addicted to junk food and my body was suffering for it.

I wanted to change, but I had no idea how to overcome years of terrible eating habits and lack of exercise. It didn't help that there were millions of conflicting experts and books out there all saying something different.

After intense research and plenty of hard work, I managed to get in the best shape of my life, and most importantly stay in great shape for the past 9 years.

But it wasn't enough for me to see results, I wanted to help others overcome the same obstacles I had to face like a busy schedule and limited money.

I also noticed many people struggling to get motivated, and this led me into spending years studying everything I could get my hands on when it came to psychology, personal development, and how to "hack" the brain to do what you want it to do. When I discovered that "willpower" is not the answer to making change, it started to make sense why so many people struggled to stay motivated.

Having this knowledge of psychology, plus my special "ninja" strategies I developed over the years for overcoming time and money constraints, I set out to share my knowledge with others so anyone who wanted to get in shape would have the tools and knowledge to do so.

For those ready to make the commitment to live their fullest potential, you are free to check out my blog where I offer free tips as well as my kindle books where I layout the most powerful techniques I've ever discovered for creating a rapid and permanent change in your body and mind.

'50 Fitness Tips You Wish You Knew' has no real revelations in them. It all boils down the same old truth everybody knows anyway. Being fit and of a healthy weight is the result of a lifestyle and not the result of a specific diet. In other words, it is a matter of CHOICE and choices are being made by your mind and are, therefore, a mental issue. Psychological tricks are being mentioned and those might work for some. However, if you have struggled with overweight conditions for a while, you may have deeper psychological issues causing you to drift back towards your self-destructive and unhealthy habits. In this case this book will likely not help you. However, the book does reinforce the important message of CHOICE.

Very easy read - straight to the point, really liked that.

I thought this book was pretty awesome for a few reason.

- The tips shared really DO WORK! I know from experience - looking back at everything I've done (some I wasn't even aware I was doing)..but ya, it works!
- I liked how it was written, subheading - blurb - done
- There is lots of references, links to other articles, links to stores, videos, etc.
- Absolutely LOVED the section on adaptogenic herbs (and will be looking into that more!)
- I agree with a lot of what he says (from the knowledge I have), for example supplements he mentions or even training methods, etc.
- Tips from other people (bonus chapter)

What it's not:
- Work out book
- Nutrition book
.....It's a combination of a few things
- And it does have typos - if that bothers anyone
- As well, if you're not new to the fitness world you may already know a lot of the information

This book was not written in a style I liked. My basic problem was that the titles to chapters would be things like, "The One Thing You Should Do But Don't." then you've got to read through 3 paragraphs to figure out what the tip is. Some of the tips were good, but I don't feel like I gained any new information.

I made it to Chapter 8 and didn’t care to read further. It’s a nice summary of a lot of fitness info and there are references, which is nice to see. But ultimately, this is a book for beginners to fitness, not for someone who has also been reading fitness tips for decades.

It does get better

The book started out feeling like an infomercial.

Then, a few sections later, recommended HeartMath, which a decade ago was identified as pseudoscience.

Still, it does contain a collection of fitness tips. I will continue reading.

It did get better. I especially like
Tip #47 Anywhere Exercises
Tip #48 Six Pack Secrets (it’s all about being extremely lean)
Tip #49 The Truth About Stretching (don’t overdo it)
There are also bonus tips at the end from other authors.

Yes, the last 20% of this book bumped it from three star to four star.

It's more of a blog posts compilation rather than a book. It didn't teach me something I didn't see in any post or a blog.

"50 Fitness Tips" is more than just a fitness book; it has a strong focus on healthy eating, herbs, and what you should avoid as far as emotional food cravings go. I'll admit that I don't do as much training as I want to, but even if you don'T work out very much, you'll definitely gain a lot from this book in terms of the suggestions and powerful tips Derek delivers on eating such as cooking your meals, salads, and what healthy snacks to eat. This book is packed with lots of health information I had no idea about and that I could be applying to my daily life by just being aware of what I'm eating.

For the low price this book is sold for, it is a definite resource that is already saving me money and I feel better after trying a few of the suggestions discussed.

50 fitness tips
This book lists of supplements and vitamins and probiotics; reading about the health benefits of each can be boring. The information doesn’t stick. I found myself daydreaming and then skimming.
There are a few helpful suggestions on how to use alternative equipment like water jugs for bar bells, and set up an inexpensive home gym.
It’s good for a home fitness reference, but I should have bought the book instead of the ebook. It is harder to find lost information in a book than in an ebook. Electronic books are still new to me. This is only the second one I read.
Too often this author recommends a stretch or an exercise and then instead of explaining it, he gives a youtube or other Internet source. I want the explanation there in the book.

Author shares on just about every aspect of health and fitness drawing on his own experience getting healthier and fit. He also shares the expertise and knowledge of others in the field. Lots of links to refer to and he even offers his own email so a reader can ask questions or make comments on the book.
Doepker likes the KISS principle when it comes to exercise routines, believing many people waste time with exercise advice that doesn't fit their schedule or goals. I especially liked the information on supplements and healthy eating. Again, simplification and saving money are obviously his views and here he also shares links and names of places to get quality food and supplements. (avoiding the ramped up ads on TV and false claims of "snake oil" sales.)

I'm not what one would call a work-out guru, but I picked up this free book for my Kindle because I have picked up a couple of pounds since I've started teaching. This book is helpful in that it discusses small steps that one can take to eat better and live healthier. Doepker seems to understand better than other writers of fitness books that many adults see themselves as too busy to work out much, and he writes to help those people.

Something else that Doepker does well: he provides links to other resources, which may come in handy if I want more specifics. Worth a shot for those wanting to take control of their weight.

3.5/5 stars

The narrator was easy to follow and read at a favorable pace. The facts and tips provided are fairly typical if you've read basic health information. Some new tips that I will definitely use. I think this would be a great book for those just starting out and wanting to learn how to improve their health.

I consider this a good book for beginners because it did have some helpful tips that most people don't know starting out. Which is what the title promises, however, I didn't really enjoy the format of the book and found it to be slow moving which made it boring. This coming from someone who loves to read about fitness.

It's obvious from the first page that the author is extremely passionate about fitness and equally keen on sharing his knowledge with others. Unlike other books which rehash common knowledge, Doepker gives advice that's not only worked for him, but broken it down into easy-to-understand bits and pieces for readers who want to learn but feel overwhelmed with all the data that's out there.

He believes you need grounding, i am not talking metaphorically. Like sleeping on a grounding mat. So I am not thinking he lives in the same world I do. Nevertheless, any fitness book helps me some by helping me stay focused.

This was actually a very informative book. There were also a lot of useful resources to use while reading. I happen to agree with the author about simplicity so it went well with what I was already thinking and doing. I will definitely be using some of his tips and tricks!

Completely worthless. The only good thing I can think of to say is that at least I read it in ebook form. I would hate to have wasted this much paper.

Aimed at a more novice level, but still had some interesting bits, as well as a few nifty recipes. It's kind of wordy, though. Could have been much more concise.

Price was right for this book as I got the ebook edition free from Amazon. I was surprised at how much I got of this book and enjoyed the format. Recommended if you want to motivate yourself a bit.

This book provided some decent tips, some new ideas and others I'd seen before but good to review. I didn't bother to check out the website URLs so can't vouch for them.

Some good tip but generally not something I enjoyed. Perhaps because I am not into supplements or doing anything intense. I think this may interest some of the extreme health freaks (no disrespect intended
