If you had to choose between your own happiness and fulfilling an obligation, which one would you opt for? Did you feel like you were being selfish if you chose your own happiness?
If you did, you are not alone. Our society has been brainwashed into thinking self-satisfaction is a selfish act, that our personal happiness should be compromised to please another. We are told it is normal for us to put other people’s happiness before our own.
If you want to be happy – learn to put yourself first – challenges this way of thinking by suggesting it is wrong for anyone to ask you do something at the cost of your own happiness?
In this book, you will find first hand accounts from those who learned to put themselves first and are all the happier for it.
This was an interesting book to me. In fact, you can always tell how much I have gotten into a book by the amount of highlights (in my Kindle) or sticky notes stuck into the front cover (in a real book) and this one has quite a few highlights.
I happened to find it for free one day and, if you find it for free, I recommend that you get the book. It's a short book (13 pages for $1.49 I think is ridiculous) and a quick read and there is some information in it - especially about the word "selfish" - that I found enlightening, especially if you're like me and have a problem telling others no or allowing yourself yourself to be of #1 importance in your life.
