When Sarah discovered lingerie in her husband's vehicle, she knew her life would be changed forever, but she never could have predicted how much. Soon, what began as a harmless Girl's Night Out with a friend for a tarot card reading turned into a shocking realization that her mother had kept a huge part of her heritage from her, and her dreams of late suggested that her good friend Brian wanted to be more than just a good friend.

For as long as he had known Sarah, Brian had felt an undeniable attraction to her. The longer he knew her, the more he wanted from their friendship. This is a sweet love story that starts off with Sarah finding out that her husband was having an affair. We watch as Sarah goes through the confronting of her husband Josh when she finds the sexy present for his girlfriend. Then we get introduced to Brian who is madly in love with Sarah and is in the friend zone and wants out of the friend zone. We are also introduced to Sarah's daughter who is just precious. Sarah decides to kick Josh out of the house and he begs to stay for 6 months so he can get his stuff together and Sarah relents and allows him to stay. Sarah and her daughter start spending more time with Brian and eventually go with him to his parents house for his mother's last week that she was alive. Brian's family accepts Sarah and her daughter as one of them and Brian and Sarah slowly grow closer than the friend zone. Upon their return and the end of Summer classes Sarah is kidnapped and held hostage for several weeks and while her family and friends search for her she realizes that she's pregnant. Brian finds out where Sarah is being held at and like a white knight rides in to rescue her. I can't wait to see if there will be a part 2 to this story just to see if Brian and Sarah are able to get married and live a happily ever after life. Emma Nichols you did a wonderful job on this story congrats.

It was ok

The story has a lot of potential. It just seemed to drag on for too long. I wish there was more depth to the characters.

BOOK REVIEW OF: The Wait by: Emma Nichols 10/22/2016

This is the first book I have read by Emma Nichols and I was pleasantly surprised! I thought it would be just another one of those formulaic types of contemporary romance novels – you know the drill:

Husband and Father: detached, unresponsive (insert name here) disregards the desires of his wife, so-so father, who leaves the burden of the parenting, care and feeding responsibilities of his child (insert name here) to the mother.

Wife and Mother: (insert name here), She is misunderstood, putting the needs of her family above ALL, keeps the home fires burning, holds down a prestigious job, always goes to bed alone and cries herself to sleep.

BUT NO, this novel possesses elements of genuine emotion, realistic life situations, identifiable and likable characters, AND a paranormal twist! This story was compelling, and the twists and turns kept me guessing until the ending.

I am an ARC Reader/Reviewer/Blogger who NEVER provides spoilers in my reviews as I do not want to EVER ruin the story for YOU, Wonderful Reader.

So, I will highly recommend you add this book to your reading library, it is quite distinctive from the other books in author Emma Nichols catalog, you’ll be glad you did.

Sarah's life implodes when she finds lingerie for another woman in her husband's car. She puts on her "big girl panties" and starts to make plans for her and her daughter Chloe. Brian, Sarah's co-worker and friend, feels more than friendship for her but decides not to act on it. However, they soon grow closer. In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a big fan of paranormal stories and when this book introduced this aspect I almost stopped reading. I decided to keep reading but I struggled to finish it. I felt that the story dragged along in some places and moved too fast in others. I struggled with how quickly Sarah accepted the fact that she is a witch and with how Chloe talked and acted. Although I love Emma Nichols' writing, this book just didn't do it for me.

Sara finds lingerie in her husband’s car and realizes that he is cheating on her. Sara begins to lean on her friend Brian from work. When she goes to a Physic and is surprised by what she learns. Lots of suspense and emotion. I really liked this interesting paranormal read.

This wasn't what I expected at all, but it was really good. I was surprised at the secret, but I was also surprised by how her husband acts and how she lets him sorta stay. There is no way.... He'd be gone... Cute story.

I'm a sucker for soul mates and when you give a pair this many obstacles to overcome in order to achieve their happily-ever-after, you have my undivided attention. I loved the added drama of the sinister force threatening Sarah. It heightened the emotion of the book and added another layer to the love story. I wasn't expecting the paranormal twist this took but I am very appreciative of the obvious research the author put into it. The primers Sarah is given in order to come to terms with her heritage are titles I recognize as being very informative by authors known to be experts in the field. I didn't find it to be a very long read, but that could be because there is so much packed between the covers that I was sucked in and I wasn't coming back up until I was done.

Interesting read

This is the first book that I've read by this author. I enjoyed the story line and characters. But the thing that threw me off, was the paranormal aspect. After she finds out that her husband is having an affair, she leans on her friend Brian for comfort. It's no secret that he's in love with her. Then, a student pops up with a major crush on her...and THEN she discovers that she has powers! You wanna know who else has powers?! Well I guess you're just gonna have to read it. I would also like to say that her soon to be ex-husband is something else. Overall, it was a good read. It kept my attention.

Josh and Sarah already had a strained marriage when she suspects him of cheating. When her suspicions are confirmed she intends to divorce him. Sarah is close to a fellow professor at the college where she teaches. As things progress she learns more about Brian. Meanwhile, Sarah is being pursued by Evan, a student. Sarah tries to let him down easy but his behavior begins to get obsessive. When Sarah goes missing it is up to Brian to try and find her. An interesting story, but I didn't like it as much as some of the author's other books.

True Love Waits

When your world gets thrown under a bus, it's very difficult to believe in happily ever after. With everything crumbling around her, Sarah is trying to find some semblance of order.

Brian is a colleague and friend who wants out of the friend zone as soon as Sarah will let him. He patiently waits and supports her at every turn.

There are more secrets inside than just her husband cheating ~

This was phenomenal and intense! Very mystically and intimately thrilling and dramatic. Very well written and thorough job on the author's key for details. I surely didn't expect this book or the storyline to be this interesting!

The good, the bad, the epilogue

The good: The plot was different than anything I have read lately. Not just a romance but witches, stalkers, and ex's were added in to make this a complex story. Sarah and Brian are the meant to be couple you can only dream about. They even bring in a daughter from the previous marriage and build a blended family.

The bad: While I enjoyed all of the complexity it was a lot for one book. So much added in to make you have to really read carefully in order to follow the authors train of thought.

The epilogue: This is a complex read, not for the reader looking for a quick sweet romance. But if you have a bit more time to devote to it them this can be a good choice.

Different

Other than the proofreading mistakes, the story wasn't so bad. It's different from her usual storyline.

I enjoyed reading it, but the end left a lot to be desired.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is the first book i have read by this author and i absolutely loved this book, it is really not what i thought it would be, it was so much better than i could have imagined.

The storyline to this book is brilliant i can't believe how gripping this book is… the plotline is extremely imaginative and creative. You are kept hooked through every chapter, you don't see the the twists and turns until they are upon you, there is no predicting the storyline and i loved that about this book, that you don't now what is going to happen next. The author is so talented and the way that this book is written is so captivating.

I loved the characters in this book they are all so different in personalities and wants and desires, while you are reading this book you feel their emotions alongside them. I loved how strong Sarah is, she has so much thrown at her throughout the whole book and she is still standing confident and true to who she is. She is so protective of those that she cares about and will do anything to protect them. Reading about Brian was brilliant, i loved hs character… how caring and protective he is and the thing i liked most about his character was his interaction with Chloe.

This really is an amazing book!!! I highly recommend this book!!!

This was a unique book for the author. Most of her books are based on actual things that could happen in real life. This one had a paranormal twist involved in it. I really wasn't expecting the addition of witches, so it threw me a little, but overall the book was really good. I would recommend to the author that she should write paranormal under another name so as not to confuse her readers or to have outrage from those who do not like paranormal reads. This was not her typical steamy affair. This had some very dark undercurrents, mixed with her usual brand of romance and as I already mentioned the paranormal twist to boot. I loved the interactions between Sarah and Brian. They really have a special relationship. He is really a patient man to wait for her and to allow her to realize her gifts, the way Josh truly is and that she is special to him. Josh and Evan are both immature and it shows just to different varying degrees. So to sum this up - it's a good read, if you love romance and books with supernatural kick then you will most certainly enjoy this.

Beautiful second chances!!

Sarah is living in a bad marriage. Loveless. She is a professor at college. Josh is the worm of a husband who does wrong by her. Brian the colleague and friend. When Josh cheats on her, Sarah ends the relationship but somehow he still lives with her while Brian is doing his best to console her and maybe show her to love again. She doesn't think she can love again but as she rediscovers herself she will. I loved the patience and devotion from Brian. Josh is just the worst. But Sarah's mom, her best friend and her daughter are her rocks. Great romance with a spice of suspense and paranormal. Loved it!

Oh, this book!!
I totally believe that true love starts with a friendship.. As is Ms. Nichols way, she held my attention throughout. I had no idea that there was any sort of paranormal twist in this, because to me, I would classify it more in the spiritual category... Either way, it just added to the suspense! I will say, the main lady is more of a saint than anyone I know! Lol! and her man-in-waiting.. they deserve each other!! I recommend this to anyone who likes romantic suspense, ignore the paranormal twist, because it really isn't ;) I hope to see more on this couple in the future.

This is another great story of Emma Nichols that surprised me a lot.
I loved Sarah, she is a strong woman who, even in adversity, doesn't give up and still struggles to move on with her life and her daughter. And Brian is lovely, always doing everything for Sarah to be happy.
And when important revelations about Sarah are discovered, Brian is still helping her to understand everything. These revelations really surprised me.
I loved the chemistry between the characters, Brian's family and all that they went to finally be together.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.

Beautifully written tale of a failed marriage opening the doors to a relationship that dreams are made of. Brian's devotion to Sarah is every woman's fantasy, and if you rate things after fulfilling fantasies then Brian scores ten out of ten. This storyline definitely allows the reader to escape reality and float along in the ultimate romance. It is written complete with the element of life threatening danger and concluding with the HEA. A great book to lose track of time with.

I wanted to like this book, but it fell flat for me. I liked the idea of Sarah and Brian, and I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers story. Brian is incredibly sweet, and I did like that relationship. However, some parts of the story felt like they dragged. I didn't mind the paranormal aspect and actually found that I enjoyed certain elements. The real killer for me was the last 20% (maybe more) of the book felt so unbelievable that I couldn't contain my eye rolls.

Took my breath away!

The Wait was amazingly beautiful and sad all wrapped up. Sarah oozed so much love and kindness that it broke my heart that her husband was such a douche. I fell in love with Brian and his drive to protect Sarah. Then through in Evan and his psychotic tendency and you have love, hate, drama, and passion all in the wonderful book.

This novel is different than most of Emma books. A romantic suspence novel that is engaging & developed with no plot holes. A novel that has a unique paranormal twist. The character's are realistic with real emotions and flaws. A compelling story with twist & turns that keep you This is a darker romance story. I recommend reading this distinctive written novel.

Sweet with a bit of action

It was an okay read, nothing really stuck to me while reading this book. It was sweet, with a bit of action/suspense. The character chemistry, however, feels flat on some occasions, IMO.
