The Mansfield Killings

Rate this book
It was the worse two-week killing spree in Ohio’s history. On the night of July 21, 1948, Robert Daniels and John West entered John and Nolena Niebel’s house in Mansfield, Ohio with loaded guns. They forced the family including the Niebel’s 21-year-old daughter, Phyllis, into their car and drove them to a cornfield just off Fleming Falls Road in Mansfield. The two men instructed the Niebels to remove all of their clothing, and then Robert Daniels shot each of them in the head.

A must read

If you are a true crime aficionado, thus is a must read. Unlike many of today’s documentaries and podcasts, Scott Fields, presents a true account. A quote from the book, the business of killing is silent.

It was a quick easy read that kept my attention, I live in Mansfield and therefore probably have more interest in the story than the average reader.

Great story telling of true events that happen over 65 years ago. The crimes committed by these two low life's would be the lead story on CNN if those horrific events happen today. Scott does a great job getting into the minds of these two heartless killers...move over Truman Capote; Hitchman and
Smith were choirboys compared to Daniels and West.
