Great spin off of the Sanibel series, a dark romance, Loved Six and Blythe
Sixten Kovic, is a powerful species vampire, habaline mix. 8 years ago he lost his chosen bride to a cruel joke. He has struggled to stay away, though almost every birthday he begs her to come back to him. Summoned back to the place he lost her, by his former Coven Master. Six finds her under the protection of another vampire, he will do anything to get her back.
Blythe Giarrusso, at 18, foolishly gave her heart and her first everything to the rich and handsome Sixten Kovic, only to have him shatter her heart just before her wedding. Her brother took her to Italy to help her heal. Her love for Six has never died. Now back in her home town, her former high school friends have rallied around her. She is working 3 jobs, and helping her brother with medical bills, and struggling with her own health problems. Then Six walks back into her life.
Six is determined to win Blythe back. His former coven master, Maestru is using her to pull him back in. The Habaline's are systematically destroying both the vampires and werewolf's by stealing their brides and mates and through a forced breeding program, creating an army to destroy them both. Six's half brother, the habaline, Rave is at the heart of it all.
Six forces Blythe back into his life. He loves her and knows she loves him. He has not qualms about using his abilities to get her. While Blythe can't fight her attraction to Six. She hates that she loves him still, trusting him is the hardest, and her life depends on it.
The truth of who and what Blythe is put her in more danger. She is being hunted by more then one faction. Her illness is part of what she is to the vampires. She finds new and powerful family in the weres, who would give their lives to protect her.
Fast paced and very steamy, erotic romance. Forced submission, and sex through vampire cohesion. Light BDSM. Story ends in a cliffhanger.
While this is the first in the series. Events take place after the first 3 Sanibel books. While it could be read as a stand alone, characters and events from the Sanibel series play a big role in this book.
2021 updated review, had been Re-reading the series in anticipation of a long awaited new release, Sanibel Prince, which has since been canceled by the publisher. Still worth the re read
