This is a spin off of Scott's Fanged Menage, and if you've not read those, you may be a bit lost since she refers to characters from those books. I enjoyed this story, and will continue with the series. My only complaint is the same I had with the Fanged Menage books. The author goes back and forth with time elements & I get confused as to if this is happening in the present, 5 years ago, yesterday, etc. Would be a little helpful instead of just changing to the next chapter if it would have a little blurb with a date or something. But maybe that's just me.

Now let's talk about hottie vamp Sixten...GROWL!! I have claimed him, so back off! The scenes aren't as smokin' hawt as the Fanged Menage, but these species and dynasty vamps are yummy!!! This book will leave you wanting more, and I will be facebook stalking Ms. Scott to see the release date of the next one!

I so wanted to like this book as I had read quite good reviews about the authors other books but this was just not for me. There were parts in it I was just not comfortable with at all and having now looked into reviews for the authors other books I have found that this is just her style so will not be purchasing anymore.

I have some other books by this author and did enjoy them for the most part but I did not enjoy this one very much. I do not want to give anything away for those who want to read it but there was one scene that left me feeling quite icky but just MY opinion.

Great spin off of the Sanibel series, a dark romance, Loved Six and Blythe
Sixten Kovic, is a powerful species vampire, habaline mix. 8 years ago he lost his chosen bride to a cruel joke. He has struggled to stay away, though almost every birthday he begs her to come back to him. Summoned back to the place he lost her, by his former Coven Master. Six finds her under the protection of another vampire, he will do anything to get her back.
Blythe Giarrusso, at 18, foolishly gave her heart and her first everything to the rich and handsome Sixten Kovic, only to have him shatter her heart just before her wedding. Her brother took her to Italy to help her heal. Her love for Six has never died. Now back in her home town, her former high school friends have rallied around her. She is working 3 jobs, and helping her brother with medical bills, and struggling with her own health problems. Then Six walks back into her life.
Six is determined to win Blythe back. His former coven master, Maestru is using her to pull him back in. The Habaline's are systematically destroying both the vampires and werewolf's by stealing their brides and mates and through a forced breeding program, creating an army to destroy them both. Six's half brother, the habaline, Rave is at the heart of it all.
Six forces Blythe back into his life. He loves her and knows she loves him. He has not qualms about using his abilities to get her. While Blythe can't fight her attraction to Six. She hates that she loves him still, trusting him is the hardest, and her life depends on it.
The truth of who and what Blythe is put her in more danger. She is being hunted by more then one faction. Her illness is part of what she is to the vampires. She finds new and powerful family in the weres, who would give their lives to protect her.
Fast paced and very steamy, erotic romance. Forced submission, and sex through vampire cohesion. Light BDSM. Story ends in a cliffhanger.
While this is the first in the series. Events take place after the first 3 Sanibel books. While it could be read as a stand alone, characters and events from the Sanibel series play a big role in this book.
2021 updated review, had been Re-reading the series in anticipation of a long awaited new release, Sanibel Prince, which has since been canceled by the publisher. Still worth the re read

4.5 stars - book intersects with previous series. The H is mix of alien shifter, vamp and he has loved h for years. She is human, but there is something different about her. They were engaged, she thinks he cheated and she left him. Now that she is back in town, he refuses to be denied, she is his and that's that. Full on adventure with evil Vamps, alien shifters and h loves him so much. Loved it.

Great twist

This book was a little confusing for a the first bit simply because your learning all the players in the book. Once you get your bearings this is an amazing adventure! Love the twist on traditional characters. Would love the rest of the series but unfortunately I can’t find them... help would be great

2.5 starsPNR, erotica

cover 4 stars

Looking at it's cover I could see this book is erotica and that it was about a woman held captive.
I'm missing here elements that would point out the supernatural part of the book.
It's a classy cover.

characters 2.5 stars

There are so many characters, and groups in this book, that I find a bit confusing who are the main and the secondary.
It's clear I've missed some info of the book (now I've found out that a previous series has introduce all this characters before).

Sixten: I guess he is the male protagonist of the book. I don't like him.
Yes, I like Dominants, but not bullies. In my opinion Sixten is a bully. He likes to say he is so different than his brother, I have my doubts. (1 star)

Blythe: I don't dislike her, but I don't love her either. I don't know exactly what of her I don't like, I guess I just didn't feel the connection. (2.5 stars)

Secondary characters: So many of them. I will mention those that I find much more interesting than the main characters here.
I like Dakota, Blythe supposedly best friend, that is never mentioned by Blythe at all.
I like Kash, Sixten's best-friend. Now that is a vampire that I could tangle with.
I like Rock the security specialist of the were-wolves.
I like Dr. Dru, the vampire doctor. (4 stars)

plot 3 stars

It's not an easy to follow book, and I've found myself lost many times. The author jumps back and forth in time, but doesn't give the readers any words or dates, or anything as transition warning.
I think the fact that I haven't read the first series that is connected to this one, plays a major part on me getting lost at times. But there was no where in the blurb of the book recommending the series, so I've just found out after I've finished the book.

I did get hook to the story at some point, and it kept me guessing at times. Mostly the secondary characters were the ones that interested me.
I want more, because I believe some characters deserve their own book.

sex heat 2.5 stars

I didn't really enjoy this compulsion thing of the vampires with the others. I was never sure when the women were really enjoying and when they were being forced to enjoy.
Some good scenes, but I did not connect with them.

originality 4 stars

The author's idea is different than most I have read, I only sometimes believe that she is mixing too many ideas together.

editing 2 stars

Too many typo mistakes. The worst part was that the main characters name "Sixten" I believe, were typed as Sixteen a lot through out the book. Really hope this problem will be fixed in the second book of the series.

Impressions and opinion

This was one of those confusing books, that it felt kind of like a roller coaster and I'm not sure what to rate.

I will read book 2 only because I have it already inside my kindle and I'm hoping to see some of my favorite characters' story told.

I read this book in a day. I wasn't impressed. Sixten annoyed me and the reasons behind not being together were another reason that just galled me into how can you be with this guy or hybrid or whatever he is.

However, after reading this it's a given this one centered character Blythe is going to be a part of each of the books for this series. Which, to be honest, is annoying as hell!

I have a very like/hate relationship with Blythe. First off this war between each species isn't really discussed much. It's mysterious and yet they tolerate each other. Bits of reasons come out, but it's slow coming. In the Sanibel series it's explained in the Were reason rather than the Vampire reason. So I guess that's why I'm not liking the vampire reason so much. Dr. Dru Holt is seen more in this series, like he should. But then I go back to the Sanibel series and remember something Dru said to Alpha, Jayce: If he had to side with anyone he would side with his Mate and his co-mates and Jayce's pack. Yet, in this he is meek and underhanded and USED in so many ways. I love that there are moments given however brief of him with Renee. In this book!

This book sets up for the next. It's all great and everything if you like the characters. I kept hoping to see more of the others because Sixten and some others just didn't interest me at all. His possessiveness is just over the top. He gets to choose because of what he is. Kash holy heck omg I want more of him in a big big way! Maestru was interesting to learn more about and about the vampire hierarchy.

Still not the best, but I did manage to carry on to the next book. This needs some serious editing. Sixten was mispelled in so many places and so was some others and even some words. It was surprising as Talyn was a hit or miss with either series. So far it seems Sanibel Burn and parts of the books after were better. This one seemed rushed and the characterization was less to be desired.

Oooh there is such a bad boy in this book

Blythe has been missing for years after finding her supposed fiancee with her bridesmaid. Sixten missed her so much. He found out too late that his brother was the one.

After coming back from Italy, Blythe has been working 3 jobs to help support her brother and is falling sick and no one can figure out why. Sixten wants her back she is his mate.

A Dynasty vampire, Gianni, has also chosen her. Now the games begin. Gianni is twisted and addicted to Blythe. We have a game of who gets Blythe. Action, and lots of it. There were some short steamy scenes but I think it works in this book. Must read!!!!

So this is a great sexy read with all kinds of seeds planted on what's to come, but at times I did feel like I missed something. There are a few different breeds and I don't feel it was all explained to me well enough, that I fully understand the characters and their roles. But I am enthralled and will be continuing this story.

Hmm, this was a good read but I felt it was dragging. I didnt know what was going on in the beginning and felt I might have picked up book 2 in a series.
The cliffhanger ending didnt really make me want to move on to book 2 so i really dont know if i will finish this series.
