Goosebumps, goosebumps, goosebumps… It pierced through my heart and soul, leaving an indelible mark on me. A must, must-read book for every Muslim out there—whether practicing or not, it doesn’t matter, just give this a read. All I did while reading this was cry, cry, and cry… Crying at the state of myself. Crying at how truly engulfed we are in this worldly life of ours, entirely forgetting that our time here is limited and the life that we are living so freely is only a test. And when we are presented before Almighty Allah on the Day of Judgement, we will be questioned about the deeds we did in our lives, how we lived our life..I cried thinking about how many people are drifting away from religion, believing it to be a backward ideology, and how, by shunning it, they feel emancipated. Oh, if only they knew… if only they knew. It is better to be a slave of the one true Lord than a slave to these worldly desires that are never-ending and will never bring us peace nor contentment. Very soon, the world will turn to dust, and nothing will remain except the name of the Lord Almighty.

No rating would justify how remarkable and profoundly deep this book is. Abu Yahya, you have an immaculate way with words. May Allah reward you for that. This book made me understand Surah al-‘Asr in a much deeper way. It’s etched in my mind now.

Allah says in the Quran:
وَالْعَصْرِۙ‎
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍۙ‎
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِۭ ‎

By the time,
Indeed, mankind is in loss,
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
Surah Al-Asr (103)

"Ibn Kathir reported: Imam ash-Shafa‘i (may Allah be pleased with him), said, “If the people ponder on Surah al-‘Asr, it would be sufficient for them."

It's the second part of Jab Zindagi shuru home but the thing is you can read it as stand-alone because it's not much linked with it's a previous part. It's a story of a Muslim girl who has atheist beliefs. EACH OF US CAN RELATE TO IT. I mean we all come across such questions where we are helpless and started doubting our religion. This should be must read the book, especially for the young generation.

My most favorite part was that of the interpretation of Surah- Asr. That was amazing.

A very engaging and interesting book which shows you the right path. I really feel that I am sleeping and seeing all the reality and stories of different prophets with me own eyes. There is no naima in the story, it was me! I was watching it, I was listening asar and it's my questions which had naima asked.
I am truly impressed by Abu Yayah and going to read akhri Jang..I recommend all of you to read it and enjoy it.

Exploring intricacies of multidimensional struggles within human self, Abu Yahya builds here a premising narrative leading to ultimate eschatological accounts that were part of his last book, 'Jab Zindagi Shuroo Hogi'. In the modern age, when materialistic illusions of this life are incessantly blurring the lines between belief and disbelief, this is an excellent literary effort in the eschatological fictional tradition of Dante Alighieri and Voltaire. But unlike Dante and Voltaire, Abu Yahya ultimately wants to lead his reader towards the other extreme of the spectrum, that is, of a passionate and resolute belief in a transcendent meaningful God. In this sense, this a ground breaking effort by a Muslim scholar reviving the Islamic dialectic fiction of 12th Century, of which Ibn Tufayl was a pioneer.

French and German enlightenment of 17th and 18th Century is now hitting Muslim societies and during Islam's sojourn into modernity, a continuously enquiring mind is naturally being equipped with the tools to question higher-truths which were once supplied apriori by the religion. In this backdrop, Aby Yahya comes up with protagonists which engrossingly represent this ultimate tension between reason and revelation. The ultimate product is a rich narrative with themes exploring agnosticism, atheism, man's ultimate struggle to make sense of God and veracity of Prophetic missions on this earth.

"Qasam Us Waqt ki", is the second part of "Jab Zindagi Shuru Hogi" by Abu Yahya Sahib. It's the heart-touching book, I've ever read. It's a book that has changed numerous stumbling selves tending towards skepticism. It is a story of a girl who started her journey to find the truth and at last, the girl (protagonist) finds the truth with Allah's help and his tremendous companion 'Asar'(Time) with the heart of Abdullah. I have a natural inclination toward Fantasy and unnatural entities. I have read many books on 'Religion' but no book takes me on the fantastic tour of religion and prophets' life and history fantastically as like that book. I adore both of the books. Lastly, I can say that both parts of this book are not less than a treasure for astray humanity.

A big 5 star reading.
No doubt, the best novel on truth of life.
Book is an excellent explaination of the glorious "Surah Asar". It dusts off many quries which settles and eventually rusts common minds. It opens gateways to the most desired and valued human virtues of " Sabr and Shukr" ( patience and thankfulness).
This page turner master piece gives deep insight into bigger scheme of happenings and things in our lives.
A focused view of book will guide readers to the journey of success and glory.

This novel "by that time" is the english version of the second part of"when life begins" series named as "قسم اس وقت کی " by abu yahya. The novel's title "by that time" is derived from the first verse of surah Al-Asr which is Wal-Asr and this surah Al-Asr is the foundation of this novel. The author has described through examples that we humans are in a state of loss as we have completely indulged ourselves in worldly matters and completely forgot about the doomsday which is about to arrive.

The novel deals with the story of a young infidel girl who belongs to the family of believers and by nature is a kind and empathic girl but she does not believe in the existence of God. She has lived a deprived life. She has western philosophical mindset about the creation of the universe. According to her,if there is God then why is there gruelling poverty, extreme tyranny, never ending class discrimination , injustice and unequal distribution of wealth? Why does God create deprivations and allow bad things to happen to good people and good things happen to bad people? Why does God keep quiet on cruelty? Why has God allowed cruelty and injustice?

She got all the answers to her questions in the most logical yet unbelievable way by witnessing the historic events of the past nations of noah, aad, thamud, lot and phraroah in a dream. She had seen herself how prophets ordained to a certain nation invited people to follow the right path, how just few people accepted that invitation and became believers and got their reward while large number of disbelievers got struck by the wrath of God and there was no escape for them. While witnessing all these events she not only got all the answers but also realized that whatever Allah does has deep wisdom in it. Apparently cruel and unjust acts are based on deep and infinite wisdom that ordinary human beings cannot understand. These events made her a firm believer and she decided that she will bear witness to these events and will lead her life according to Allah's will, no matter how many hardships she has to bear, she will try to pass these worldly tests to win the ease of the life hereafter.

Prior to this journey she got a propsal from a noble servant of Allah Almighty but she rejected because she hated the religious people and after spending half of life in deprivations she did not want to spend rest of her life the same way. So she accepted a proposal from a wealthy family. But after this transformation she felt guilty about this decision. But when your intensions are pure and are truely for the sake of Allah, then Allah surely make ways for his people. So same happened to that girl. She got a partner who happily supported her in her journey of leading life according to Allah's will.

This is a very captivating and engaging book as I read it in two sitting. Although it's the second part of جب زندگی شروع ہوئ but it can be read as a stand alone as I haven't read the first part either.
.
This is the story of an atheist girl who in the end turns towards Allah and asks for guidance and clearance of some misconceptions and Allah answers her prayers in the most beautiful way. The writer's way of narrating his message through the life stories of prophets is impressive as if one is witnessing it through his own eye. It seemed so real as if I was there traveling through time with Asar instead of Naima and witnessing everything. The story line was also good plus it was an easy read with no heavy vocabulary.
.
.
Everyone must read this book it might answer some of their own questions as well as it did of Naima's. Moreover, the emphasis on the life of hereafter is eye opening. How, in our busy lives we forget that this is all mortal and an immortal life is awaiting us. All we have to do is be God conscious and do what we are created to do in the first place and our many problems will be resolved.

After the success of 'When Life Begins', I wondered if the author would be able to come up with another interesting book but I was pleasantly surprised!

The plot is sound and intriguing, and manages to explore some of the burning criticisms about religion and God while still managing to keep the book light and interesting. Obviously this was not meant to be a detailed academic discussion regarding criticism of the concept of God but the author successfully manages to put forward the outline of the basic arguments in favour of the belief in God mentioned in the Qur'an. This last point in itself is a major achievement as many of the arguments for the belief in God mentioned in the Qur'an have often not received the attention they deserve.

Definitely an excellent read, especially for the younger generation who find that their questions about the basic beliefs are often ignored by the religious scholars. May be a good read for non-Muslims as well.
