Loves:

1. People who read my books.

2. My children. (Please don’t tell my kids I listed fans before them. You may cause a riot in my home. They’re pretty feisty kids.)

3. My cats and dogs when they’re not making me sniffle, sneeze, rub my eyes or irritating my asthma. (Scratch that, they always do and I love them anyway.)

4. Writing. (I would have listed this first, but it would have looked bad. Worse than putting fans before my kids.)

5. Good friends. (Fortunately, I have several.)

6. Quiet evenings at home in front of the fireplace reading a good book. (Please, like that’s going to happen with five kids in the house - but I can dream can’t I?)

7. I got stuck here so I asked a couple of friends to tell me their fondest memory of me. This is what I got:

Deb: It was when you used to babysit Michael and rode the horse in Meijer so he could ride with you. Also......my first trip to TX for a wedding. You were at my house and said you would put my clothes in the dryer when they were done. Needless to say, the next morning I had to pack wet clothes in my suitcase. The airline lost my luggage for 4 days so when I finally got it back, my clothes were all mildewed. (Okay, in my defense – I was twelve at the time. The sad thing is, I still forget to put clothes in the dryer.)

Michele: I have too many…but one of the first that popped in my head was how you drove all the way to Chicago to look at my apartment for me because I was too hung over, and then gave me all the details so I could pretend I was there. You are a good friend... (It was only a seven hour round trip. What are friends for?)

Joe: A particular Domino’s pizza delivery and you invited the delivery guy inside…(I’m going to stop there because my ex-husband thinks he’s funny.)

For obvious reasons, I didn’t ask anyone else.

Hates:

1. Puppies, kittens, babies, sunshine, peace on earth, goodwill, recycling, education, gifts, and sweets of any kind. (Really, I do.)

2. Being facetious. (I would never dream of it!)

3. People who don’t read my books. (Well, maybe not all of them. But, most of them.)

4. People who always manage to stop by the house when I look terrible. (You know who you are…)

5. Lumberjacks. (Don’t know why, just do.)

Now that you know everything about me, you should drop by my Facebook page to tell me all about you.

Xandra has the auspicious honour of being unique in the supernatural world and extremely powerful so going up against an archangel should be a piece of cake right - not exactly. This book continues where Kallen and Xandra are now right hand-fasted (married in our speak) and looking forward to a honeymoon so they can recharge their batteries after the last adventure. Seeking some peace and quiet turns into a game of hide and seek where Xandra has to fight for her life and she makes some powerful allies along the way. She still has "foot in mouth" problems but that is part of her charm and still getting into heaps of trouble along the way. This author never fails to deliver a book that is fast paced and very entertaining with heaps of action and romance tossed in.

I loved this story with both Xandra and Eliana Brennan. Great combo. Not much of a honeymoon for Xandra and Kallen, but good exciting story for me!

This book did not really capture my attention like the first six books. Xandra needs a a vacation/honeymoon with Kallen to recharge her battery. But true Xandra style, there is no such thing as taking a break when you have that much power, and entities want you dead. She goes to Hawaii, where she almost kills Kallen with a volcano. They go somewhere else where they scare the crap out of a older couple, and finally ends up in Egypt where she meets a Eliana. A human who has been infused with the essence of the god Re. I personally didn't think Eliana was as impressive as Lamer was trying to impress that she is. Compared to Xandra and Kallen... come on now. Through the essence of Re she can control the elements, can heal, and is stronger. The most impressive thing she did was holding tons of water in a typhoon. But that is just me. Anyway, before Xandra and Kallen leaves fairy, Xandra learns B... (the archangel who Xandra battle with in the last book when she was in Razeil body. Can't remember his name) is trying/plotting to get even with her. Poor angel’s ego is bruised. Also while in Egypt, Xandra and Kallen helps an agent gets his family back from a mobster.
I had several issues with this book. #1 the book picks up almost exactly where the other one left off. I like it when there has been a month or several in between. Maybe during that time she could have had her much needed relaxation, just in time to face the next disaster. #2 I was very much interested in seeing how Dadga reacted to Xandra buying him a present, and if Kallens grandma "friend" was still intact when they returned home. #3 The witches that met them in the streets, she didn't even let them really get anything out of their mouths before she and Eliana started slinging power. I understand they were in a bit of a hurry, but that whole scene was hurried. But on the flip side I enjoyed the part of Kallen and Xandra flipping the car and smacking them with a towel. #4 The time they spent in the building trying to save the agents family. I think all three of them forgot they were magical beings. They wanted to show off their powers at the end to scare them, why didn't they show them off to save the family. Who in the hell is going to run and dodge bullets, when you can create an impenetrable barrier. Furthermore, why the hell did Kallen let the little girl hit her head, he could have cushioned it. What exactly were the bad guys going to do about it? #5 And OH MY GAWD! All the fricking sex. I'm not hating on them, but jeez, enough already. Nobody is that horny, magical or not. The story was a lot better before they discovered the wonders of a orgasm.
Don't get me wrong. I love Xandra, Kallen, Isla, and everyone else (with the exception of ghost mom and dad). I loved Xandra snarky comments, and foot in mouth syndrome. I love Kallen's ability to tolerate her ability to get into all kinds of trouble with that mouth of hers. I think they mistreat Keagan quite a bit, but oh well. The first six novels were OH MY GAWD AMAZING, and then....Idk what happened. I am not going to stop reading the series because of this little hiccup. Every book can't be a hit. I still want to read about Xandra's magical journey as she finds herself and purpose. I would also like more of a back story on Isla and Dadga (HINT HINT) lol.

Warning: Rant ahead!

There are somethings that are too good to be true.
Like all the books in a series of YA novels to be equally awesome.

Sadly, Bonnie's Book#8 fell and really hard from the high pedestal it was occupying from Book 1 to Book 7.5.

I feel bad writing this cos I really enjoyed book 1 to 7. But I am pissed off at yet another author's attempt at ethnic diversity which basically is an American extension to everything else in the world.

So we find Xandra and Kallen in Egypt for a vacation.
And there they meet Eliana and Josh.

Here is where things get super stupid.
Xandra and Kallen basically shares their life story with Eliana and Josh. But in return, there is no real answers on who or what Eliana and Josh are.
Who are their parents, family?
Why and how did Eliana and Josh get their powers?
How did they meet?
How in the whole holy hell did Egyptian Govt come to know of Eliana's powers?

You'd think that these are basic qns that Xandra would bother asking someone before she shares all her details. Well nah!

Then you have a Secret Agent who involves a questionable magical being -Eliana- for a personal quest using govt resources. Really?????
So your wife and kid has been kidnapped as a revenge to your work.
Why would Agent Amman come to Eliana instead of using his own govt resources?

And why in the whole holy hell would there be an agent called "Jacqueline" in Egyptian service?
Everyone in Egypt knows English (with a heavy accent of course).

Xandra and Kallen get involved in the quest to find the Agent's child and wife and Xandra does a spell.
She meets some witches who come attracted by her spell.
Admittedly the 1st group was annoying.
But Xandra and others are superbly rude with the mother-daughter witch duo who had come to meet them. Instead answering the mother's question on if Xandra had come to kill witches, she immediately tries to attack the duo and acts super biyatchy.
Seriously?????

In the middle of this, we have Belial-Xandra petty fight.
Its hard to believe that Belial understood the swap of souls between Raziel and Xandra -why and how did he?
Even assuming he is all set for revenge, aren't there a 10000000 other ways that an Archangel of Evil can take revenge rather than doing it stupidly by controlling a tourist to open gunfire and consequently and in open?
Is he the Archangel of Stupidity?

In the name of ethnic diversity, we have 'witches' who dress in Saris and having Indian faces in the middle of Egypt. Does Bonnie know that Egypt and India are two different countries????
Not to mention the whole cultural appropriation in the earlier books on Devas, Daityas and Apsaras. If you're borrowing cultural stuff from other religions, use it with respect.

I think US based YA writers should stick with what they know, rather than doing the whole ethnic diversity-world culture crap at least when it comes to Eastern religions.

Now there's a new character with some interesting powers... I just found out it's actually another of her books, which I may read later. :)
Meanwhile, almost done with what there is of the series! only two more to go! it's a fun and fast paced read. I really identify with Xandra, when she gets sidetracked in her thoughts.. lol :D
