Dina is just an average 7 year old growing up in the suburbs of Chicago. But she is noticing her parents arguing more and is not 100% sure she understands why. They decide to take a family vacation to Gatlinburg, TN to take their minds off the stresses plaguing them. However, a life changing event has them stranded and learning to trust strangers.
This biographical tale is a part of my childhood that has introduced some interesting characters into my life. When I retell the story to people they remark "how incredible!", "you have got to write that story down!", and "you just don't hear about this kind of event these days!".
USA Today Bestselling Author. I love reading and writing, especially YA/NA fiction. I have self-published and also used a traditional publisher. Each experience has brought new knowledge and new friendships.
When I'm not chasing after my kids or writing, I enjoy painting, drawing, listening to music, and watching horror movies. I am also a rare disease advocate, a gardener, and a believer in true love.
What a nice, heart-warming story to read! I loved that this was based on true events! It's encouraging to know that there are still kind people out there who will care for strangers in need. As a fan of D.A. Roach, I particularly like that her stories are diverse and cover many different genres. She is adept at all types of novels, writing paranormal for one book and switching to YA for the next one! Considering that this was the first book she ever wrote, I think she did a fantastic job with this story!
I'm pretty warped and distrusting of people so I was very pleasantly surprised to read this heartwarming story of a family desperately needing help while on vacation, and all the kind people who came to their aid. This might just give me back my faith in the human race a tiny bit. I loved this story!
Short, sweet, a good book to read to remember the good people in this world. I have been fortunate in my own life to also have met generous and kind strangers. In fact I feel like a big part of my 20s hinged on the kindness of those amazing strangers. Thank you Ms. Roach for sharing your tale.
