Rate this book
What happens when 180 pounds of football star collides with 105 pounds of art geek?

An ancient curse springs to life, of course.

Phoebe Campbell is anything but popular. Todd Miller is the epitome of the high school jock. Their socially opposite worlds collide when they are paired to work together on a project for art class. Attempting to cooperate for the sake of their assignment, Todd and Phoebe begin to look past preconceived notions and see each other for who they truly are. As genuine feelings begin to develop between them, they find themselves plagued by dangerous shape-shifting episodes and unexplained telepathic connections.

In order to stop the mysterious occurrences, Phoebe and Todd are forced into a mission to uncover the truth. In their quest, they discover unsettling stories that hint at a previous existence, and also clues to an ancient curse that has never been broken.

Can they learn to love each other despite the typical high school social expectations? And will their love be the key that breaks the ancient curse once and for all?

After spending every work day with classrooms full of tweens and teens, then going home to three boys of her own, two of whom fall into the tween/teen category, you’d think that Amy Durham might like to leave the world of teenagers and young adults behind. Not so!

Instead, she spends her spare moments – which sometimes consist of waiting twenty minutes for her oldest kiddo to get out of band practice – with her laptop and a multitude of teenage characters trying to navigate their way through the twisted, difficult road of adolescence.

You might ask… “Why Young/New Adult Fiction”? Well, because it’s what she knows. As a teacher and a parent, Amy is around teens on an almost constant basis. And while it’s true they can be – ahem – challenging, they are also full of life, vision, and dreams. And that’s a really cool place to be.

Young Adult and New Adult Fiction allows young readers the opportunity to find hope for the situations they find themselves in, find determination to keep on going, and courage to pursue their dreams. It also allows adult readers the chance to revisit the exuberance of youth, remember the joy and poignancy of first love, and recall how it felt to dream with abandon.

Amy Durham is a wife and mother, an author, a teacher, an avid reader, and a musician. If she weren’t writing books, she’d be a celebrity chef!

It's always risky when reading a sequel. There's a big chance that it won't be nearly as good as the first book and sometimes, a badly written sequel can diminish your enjoyment of the first one a little. That was not the case when I read this book. I loved the first one, Once Again, but I absolutely adored Once and For All. Phoebe was adorable and Todd, oh Todd. I was wary when I heard that he was going to be in this one. I didn't know how Amy would make me like him considering how he was in the first one, and I was right. She didn't make me like him, she made me love him. Going on my reread shelf because I know I will read this over and over again.

Very rarely do I like a follow-up book better than the first. And I loved the first Sky Cove book. But this…wow. Amazing. I started it this morning and I finished it tonight. I hate it when people say they couldn’t put a book down – it’s so cliché – but I really couldn’t put this one down. I was hooked from the prologue until the end.

Amy Durham writes female characters that don’t make inexplicably stupid decisions or act like idiots for no apparent reason. She writes guys who aren’t jerks because they’re, well, guys and supposed to be (you know, to be cured of jerkiness by the female). Her heroines are smart and strong. Her heroes are decent and three dimensional. Her villains? Quite villainous. And the story? Epic. There is reincarnation here, just like the first book AND a curse AND shapeshifting. What’s not to love? My only complaint is that I think the series is finished.

However – I’m sure whatever Ms. Durham comes up with next will be awesome.

Another success for this author. I enjoyed book 1 in this series (Once Again). This book was different, with a very flawed hero and a heroine with a lot to overcome. I enjoyed seeing them take this journey together. I highly recommend this book (and the series) to anyone who loves YA romance with paranormal elements. Todd & Phoebe's story is very satisfying!

I forgot to write a review directly after reading, so my dates of completion are probably off. With that said, I really like this ya. And though I'm an adult, I still enjoy reading these types of books.

No doubt I'd read my more by this author.
