Upon turning fourteen years of age, Bey Gren-Liet becomes squire to the heroic warrior, Lord Corvaine. He had begun his Crooked Path, a right-of-passage that will eventually lead him to the city of New Dolis where he will meet his true family for the first time and, if he passes the tests set before him, become an Asteel warrior.
But this path is full of danger and unexpected revelations, and then there is the ghost...
Meanwhile, in the city of the enemy a young girl, no more than a common thief, finds herself unexpectedly apprenticed to the emperor’s Spymaster-in-Chief, the mysterious and deadly Asperond. There is treachery in the emperor’s court and it is her task to uncover the names of eight traitors that have been whisked away from the city by a spy. It is a task that will take her hundreds of miles from home and bring her to the attention of Lord Corvaine and his young squire.
But a great army is gathering on the horizon and soon all will be involved in a desperate battle for survival.
Warrior Class is an epic fantasy story suitable for older children and younger pensioners.

Based outside of London, I am a writer of fantasy for (almost) all, and thrillers for adults. Sometimes I also dabble in kids books, being a big kid at heart myself. I love books (of course), cinema (both high and low), Scotch whisky (Islay please), cigars (yeah, I know), sushi and juggling cats (when I can catch 'em).
PS: I was just kidding about juggling cats. Honestly.
Review by Jeremy Poole Warrior Class. The Crooked Path. By P.T.Mayes Mr Mayes does it again, another success, in a different genre, this time fantasy and he has done it as well as he does all of his works. This is definitely a five star fantasy, ‘The crooked path’ is the story of two kingdoms, separated by a poisoned land, yet still fighting for supremacy. The two protagonists are teenagers, one from each side of the divide. Both side show traits of good and evil and Philip paints a wonderfully in depth world filled with lively and colourful characters. The book is long, over 700 pages and as with all fantasies now, it leaves you wanting more. This book, combines the best of all fantasy books and I for one will be waiting, with baited breath, for the second part. Jeremy Poole.
The story is somewhat complex with a well structured plot. There are several unexpected twist that pop up just when you think you have the story figured out, or anticipating a particular outcome. I enjoyed the book very much.
