When Sebastian Walton was sixteen, he got his first kiss from a guy, and that guy was his best friend's older brother, Pablo Rivera. But after the scorching kiss in the Rivera's swimming pool, Pablo acted like nothing happened between them.

Six years later, Sebastian is close to graduating from college and poised to achieve his dream of going to medical school. During a semester break, he visits his old neighborhood and the Riveras, where openly gay Pablo, now a police officer, is sexier than ever and determined to win Sebastian for good...

Sweet and hot is a good combination, as far as I am concerned, and when you add a little "love fulfilled after years of waiting", you have got the basic storyline for this book. Both characters are great guys who have a common background, a history of a kiss shared many years ago. Neither has been able to forget it and, unlike many of us in real life, these two get a second chance at making it work.

A second chance but there's no groveling. Everything just falls into place nicely.

Nothing really to dislike, however it wasn't great (nor was it bad) for sopme reason ity just felt a bit..."blah". Can't quite put my finger on why but it was readable, well written, showed all POV's clearly, the sex was okay. Just didn't really get me I guess, it could've been my own feelings though so I've gone for 3 stars.

Wow! Uber sexy short story about Sebastian and Pablo who grew up together. When they were kids, Pablo kissed Sebastian and then nothing. Fast forward a number of years and Sebastian and Hector, who is Pablo's brother, visit from college. Pablo is a cop and is out and proud. The two reconnect and ooooo howdy, that connection is lava hot!! Been a while since I read characters having sex in a chair and wow. Very good little read. S. Lane is such a terrific storyteller.

Sweet romance but was a bit blah. I need a little more angst to get me going.

Felt the ending was abrupt

It's a pet peeve when authors finish the story right before the MC comes out to their parents. I wanted to know what happened, but I guess I never will.

Sebastian and his best friend Hector are heading home for a visit to Hector’s parents. They’ve been friends forever, and even though Sebastian shared a kiss with Hector’s brother Pablo years ago, no one has any idea that Sebastian is gay. When they hit the old neighborhood it turns out Pablo is living with his parents and Sebastian gets to see him again.

I liked parts of this. Sebastian’s anxiety about what his parents will think of him being gay makes him real. Pablo is an out police officer and he doesn’t like hiding who he is or who he’s with, especially in front of his brother. He tells Sebastian he will respect his feelings on this but then first has him tell Hector, and then he himself tells his mother (and makes it sound cheap). We don’t get to see what happens with Sebastian’s parents so that was a let down.

Shawn Lane is an author who can be hit or miss for me. I’ve loved some, not liked some. This one sort of falls in the middle. I felt there wasn’t enough before they fall into bed together (in Pablo’s parents house, no less). In addition, there is a lot of sex for the length of the book. I’d have liked to see more character development and a little less sex.

That being said, it’s an easy, pretty fluffy short read. The characters are likeable, what we get to know of them. I actually liked Hector the best, go figure. Recommended for an in between long or angsty books.

2.5 stars. Somehow I thought this was more related to the His series than it is. I liked the MCs but I thought it was a little bit predictable in some ways. I was hoping for a bit more story I guess. I would love to know what happens in the future with these two.

Short and sweet, what I always say about a Shawn Lane book. This one fell a bit short for me, not my favorite I have read. Still, I always look forward to books from this author.

It was short and sudden and a I didn't care for Pablo's pushiness much but it was a lovely enough read. And I liked the family and support they all provided to Sebastian.
