A war is brewing between the hunters and the vampires and Chloe is determined to strike against the vampires before they have a chance to attack the hunter community.
While Chloe tries to convince the hunter community, and most especially tries to convince Drew, that they should move against the vampires first instead of waiting for an attack, the group of new friends—Oscar, Alice, Drew, Chloe and Christina—are distracted by news reports of a vigilante who is saving innocent humans against what can only be vampire attacks. Fearing this vigilante will cause unwanted attention that will expose the vampire-hunter community with each person he rescues, the group attempts to discover who this mysterious potential vampire hunter is.
When they catch up with him, the group learns a shocking revelation that might just change everything for everyone in Arcadia Falls, but will have the most profound impact on Chloe herself.
The Arcadia Falls Chronicles is the continuation of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Following the format of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter, The Arcadia Falls Chronicles is serialized into several novella-length stories.
Jennifer Malone Wright is best known for her best selling novella series, The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter. Other works include the follow up to The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles, The Graveyard Guardians series and her full length vampire novel called Savior (A Higher Collective Novel).
She resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children where she practices preparing for the zombie apocalypse. Just kidding!
But seriously, between the craziness of taking care of her children, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on her beloved fiction or chatting with her equally crazy friends.
I am a huge fan of the Vampire Hunter's Daughter series. The first six are currently available in an omnibus. I actually bought it as a paperback even though I had all six as an e-version. Yep loved them that much. Have no worries if you are late to the game because book one is free!! Also, if it has been a while since you read the other books, that is no worries on that either. Jennifer does an amazing job of letting the reader know what happened in the previous installments without the constant repetitiveness that some authors use.
In this installment, we get to see Chloe really start to grow up. She is starting to come to terms with her past and to make decisions for the future. Not very easy decisions, either. This novella really shows the depths of Chloe's relationships with her newly discovered family and friends. It has some adventure, some romance, and some surprises I did not see coming. I can not wait for the next installment.
Chloe, Luke, Drew, Alice, and Oscar had been visited by Sostrate near the end of The Vampire Hunter’s Daughter, and she warned them of an oncoming war between the hunters and the vampires. Chloe is itching to prepare, while the council doesn’t even believe Sostrate ever came. She tries to convince Drew and the others that they need to strike now, before the vampires seek them out, but they’re all a bit hesitant to initiate the war.
They soon find that a mysterious man has been helping victims of vampire attacks, and go in search of him. Who is this guy and where did he come from?
I loved that we got a slightly bigger picture of who Alice and Oscar are as characters. I love watching Alice slowly heal from her life with Trevor and learn a bit about who she is and what she can do. I really can’t wait to see how much she accomplishes in the future.
Naturally there’s still a bit of a love triangle, and I’m curious to see how that works out, as well. Drew is Chloe’s current boyfriend, but Gavin still just hasn’t given up. However, Gavin left to go work on some mysterious assignment. I’m curious to know where he went and what that means for Chloe’s confusion about him. I could see it working out either way.
One of the things the author does really well is personalities. Especially Chloe’s. Sure, Chloe has all these new powers and can do all these awesome things. However, the author never lets us forget that she is still just a teenager. She has typical teenage thoughts. She has typical teenage wishes. She has typical teenage impulses.
I read the book preceeding this one (The Vampire Hunter's Daughter) and i looked forward to reading this one.
What was a pleasant surprise was the book flowed brilliantly, and i was at the end before i knew it and was disappointed that it had ended! The story was continuous, no slow bits, i enjoyed reading each page and like i say i was surprised when it ended as i wasnt expecting it to!
A great book to read. I sat and read this in 2 nights ( a couple of hours each night).
I started to gel with the character of Chloe and the people around her. So obviously, she is a Vampire Hunter and lives in a community of fellow Hunters. The main running story is a mysterious man who keeps finding vampires just as they attack and save the day -it has been reported in the newspapers and hes just described as "a dark haired man" who calls for an ambulance then leaves. The Hunters want to find him, and big surprise of who he is -i wasnt expecting that!! The relationship between Chloe and Drew is carrying forward, but i dont know. I think Gavin might be a spanner in the works one day......
Its been left completely open with several parts of the book begging to be continued and i hope it is soon! Happy to have found this series! Read on behalf of Bewitching Books
Love & War is an exciting read that allows fans (and new readers) to follow vampire hunter, Chloe's next journey. The main character Chloe, who I had previously established as being a favourite YA heroine of mine in The Vampire Hunter's Daughter, continues to develop in skill and maturity in Jennifer Malone Wright's book.
The book is well crafted with an interesting plot development and twists that I really did not see coming. There are numerous exciting, heart-pounding moments in Love & War, that successfully entertained me and kept me gripped. It was a thoroughly enjoyable story, one that both new readers and hardy fans will enjoy.
Disclosure: This book was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.
God I love this series. I also love the fact that my teenage daughters can read it and we can share our thoughts about it. Most YA novels I do not enjoy because I hate lame, lead girl characters who whine & cry alot with the woe with me act. However You will NOT find that in this book. It has a strong lead female who has been dealt a really bad hand in life. This story follows her life as she has to pick up the pieces, discover who she is while learning a new way at life, finding new love & kicking butt :D As a mother I highly recommend this series. 5 stars easily
I loved The Vampire Hunters Daughter Series, and in this continuation nothing is lost! The drama is still alive, the suspense is still page turning, and the new characters are intriguing! I can't wait for the next part to the series.
This book wasn’t bad at all. I’m not sure if it’s actually the first book? Seems like there might be a prequel that I missed or that you need to read the second one to continue the story to get all the information. Overall, it was nice to change from the genres I usually read, though this one is not especially my taste honestly (I’m just not very big into vampires, but I wanted to try it—I usually like cozy mysteries, humor, and historical fiction). The story was relatively well written and I liked a couple of the twists near the end (no spoilers). Sometimes the narrator seemed to have a bit of a difficult time with the narration, but overall did a good job. ’m grateful to the author for allowing me to receive this book. Thanks! Hope this will help someone. :)
10*s. I received an ecopy as a gift from the author in return for an honest review.
I am totally in love with TVHD Series and with the author's writing and I love this series even more!!! It's got the same amazing characters that I have loved from the beginning and I love how the two series tie into one another!!! Its fabulously well written and an extremely fast paced read and this author is so good at captivating her audience and keeping us absorbed from beginning to to end!!! This is a MUST read for all ages to enjoy and get hooked to and I highly recommend both series for all to read!! Thank you, Jennifer Malone Wright, for another phenomenal and successful series that just blows me away!!!
Is it too soon to beg for more?? It's been awhile since I've been reeled into a story so quickly! Bravo!! I have read a lot of terrific books since I finished The Vampire Hunter's Daughter series yet it seems like just yesterday I fell for Chloe & the gang. All of the details immediately coming back...the love for these characters, the town, & their mission flooded me. WOW, I was seriously in need of a Chloe fix!! And boy did this ever satisfy the craving! ;•D I wasn't expecting to finish it tonight, but I could not put it down & finished it in 3 hours! This series is gonna rock for sure!!!! BTW I'm totally Team Drew! LOLz
I devoured the Vampire Hunter's Daughter series when I found this author and was anxiously awaiting this book - it did not disappoint! My only complaint would be the waiting game until the next "chapter" of Chloe, Drew, the gang and Zander is revealed!!
Another amazing installment of "The Vampire Hunter's Daughter" series. Love & War finds our heroine dealing with normal teenager issues, while also worrying about a potential vampire attack.
These stories always leave me wanting more. I look forward to reading book 2.
I enjoyed this fast paced story just as much as the first in the series! I would have given this short novel 5 stars if it had been longer like the rest in the series. It continued with a good flow and had a couple of really shocking surprises with another character the vigilante killing vampires! Chloe, Drew and the rest of the group secretly go out to find out who that vigilante is. I will continue reading more of the novels in the series because I am very intrigued with the characters and as the story goes along. I highly recommend this story to YA, paranormal, vampires, witches, fantasy and romance readers.
For some reason I hadn't realized that this was another section and not an entire book. I hadn't looked at the price when I purchased it ($!.99), was next in series so I bought it. I read the Vampire Hunters Daughter when it was complete. It's harder to rate something like this, since it isn't really finished. So, it was okay enough that I'll read what happens next, but I'm not left with feeling that I'll chew my arm off if I don't get the rest of the book tomorrow. Do with that what you will.
WOW Lots of surprises in this one. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this story. The Vampire Hunters Daughter was a great series that has lead to an even better one. If that's possible. I'm so glad I got this one right after the last installment of The Vampire Hunters Daughter. I'm sad that I will have to impatiently wait for Taking Talon now lol. I am a proud member of Team Drew!!!!
(reread to continue series) I'd give this 3.5 stars. I got through it just as quickly as the first series. Again, I made a connection with characters and it was upbeat for a darker story line. Left a huge cliff hanger and I didn't realize there was going to be more to come. I am disappointed in that aspect but still looking forward to finding out more!!! 5/31/13
I cannot put any of these books down. Jennifer Malone Wright has captured my attention and affections with her books. One of the best and favorite authors I have ever read. Keep up the good books.
Having just read The Vampire Hunter's Daughter (I-VI), I should have realized this book might be less than complete. It is a complete story, in that it has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but it is very short and leaves too much hanging for the next in the series.
An interesting new character was introduced in this chapter and I expect him to feature much more prominently in future books. Chloe is growing up but is still a teenager in many ways. I would expect Drew to be the grown-up in the relationship, but he has his own baggage making him a bit unsure of himself. Their own little group of vampire hunters is growing around them, creating an unusual dynamic. Here, they all seem to be able to act like adults.
I liked the story, the characters, the plot, and the writing style. I can't complain because this book was free on Amazon. However, were I to spend money, I would purchase the collection all at once rather than one book at a time.
Ok so I read the the vampire daughter prequel first and you don't have to because there's a good synapses bringing it all together. With that said, I would recommend reading it first just for the simple reason it was so well written. They aren't long either . This book was a great read and I would highly recommend picking up both these series. I am absolutely in love with this author and I'm so glad I happend by her.
What an excellent way to start this series with the intro being journal entires by the MC.i love the sweetness of Alice, and am truly wanting to see her character bloom. A stronger unity is being formed within the people surrounding the MC, making me very anxious to see the potential of this hunting unit. Looking forward to book 2. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
An interesting story about vampires and vampire hunters. The love story is kind of difficult because I'm not sure she is with the right guy. I like them both but am wondering if things will switch later on. I guess I will only find out if I keep reading.
Great length book for a person who gets to read sporadically. The angst of teen love, with superpowers added to the mix, is sweet and just how I remembered it... confusing. Is the grass greener on the other side? Enjoyed reading
This continues Chloe's story from the Vampire Hunter's Daughter. There is the ongoing love triangle and teen angst. There are more secrets to uncover and vampires to defeat. The cliff hanger ending is designed to keep you wanting more.
Get this book if you love vampire stories. You won't regret it! I think it's worth it. Iy's a little different to your average vampire story. Definitely worth a read.
