Charlotte Link (born 5 October 1963 in Frankfurt am Main) is a German writer. She is among the most successful contemporary authors writing in German.
Charlotte Link is the daughter of a well-known German writer and journalist, Almuth Link. She wrote her first work, Die schöne Helena when she was just 16 years old and published it at the age of 19.

She is known as much for novels about contemporary life as for psychological detective novels in the English manner. The books Sturmzeit, Wilde Lupinen and Die Stunde der Erben form a trilogy. These, among others, have been filmed for TV series for the German television station ZDF.

Her novel, Am Ende des Schweigens was nominated in 2004 for the Fiction category of the Deutsche Bücherpreis (German Book Prize), while her book Die Rosenzüchterin, published in 2000, remained for several weeks at the top of the Spiegel Bestseller list.

Charlotte Link now lives with her partner and dog in Wiesbaden.

She is an active member of PETA and works for the street dogs of Turkey and Spain.

Charlotte Link wurde 1963 als Tochter der Autorin Almuth Link in Frankfurt am Main geboren. Ihr Abitur legte sie an der Christian-Wirth-Schule in Usingen ab. Weniger aus Familientradition - ihr Vater war Richter am Oberlandesgericht - vielmehr weil sie gegen Unrecht an Tieren vorgehen wollte, studierte sie sechs Semester lang Jura an der Universität Frankfurt.[1] Sie wechselte aber 1986 nach München zu den Fächern Geschichte und Literaturwissenschaft, die ihre literarische Arbeit unterfütterten.[1] An ihrem Erstlingswerk Die schöne Helena begann sie bereits mit 16 Jahren zu schreiben, sie konnte es dann mit 19 Jahren veröffentlichen.[2]

Sie wurde sowohl mit Gesellschaftsromanen als auch mit psychologischen Spannungsromanen in englischer Erzähltradition bekannt. Die Titel Sturmzeit, Wilde Lupinen und Die Stunde der Erben sind eine Trilogie, die neben anderen Werken vom ZDF für das Fernsehen in dem Fünfteiler Sturmzeit verfilmt wurde. Der Roman Am Ende des Schweigens wurde 2004 in der Kategorie Belletristik für den Deutschen Bücherpreis nominiert, ihr 2000 erschienener Roman Die Rosenzüchterin führte mehrere Wochen die Spiegel-Bestsellerliste an. Die Gesamtauflage ihrer Romane liegt bei über 20 Millionen.

2014 erschien ihr Buch über die letzten Jahre ihrer an Krebs erkrankten Schwester Franziska, die sie während ihrer Krankheit begleitete.

Charlotte Link lebt zurzeit mit ihrem Lebensgefährten in Wiesbaden.

Als aktive Tierschützerin engagiert sie sich für PETA und die Straßenhunde der Türkei und Spaniens

Ας ξεκινήσω από τα αρνητικά... Θα μπορούσε να είναι πολύ καλύτερο αν δεν ήταν τόσο πολύ φλύαρο! Προσωπικά θα το προτιμούσα με 200 σελίδες λιγότερες!
Το σφάλμα της συγγραφέως με τη χρονολογική σειρά ενός γεγονότος επίσης δεν ήταν ότι καλύτερο!
Και η επιμέλεια της ελληνικής έκδοσης όπως πάντα χωλαίνει σε αρκετά σημεία!
Επίσης ήταν αρκετά εύκολο να απορρίψεις υπόπτους οπότε ήταν και εύκολο να βρεις τον ένοχο αν και όχι τόσο εύκολο το κίνητρο!

Στα θετικά οι δύο συμπαθείς πρωταγωνιστές που αν και άκρως διαφορετικοί χαρακτήρες δημιούργησαν μια καλή ομάδα!
Είχε αρκετές στιγμές αγωνίας και ήταν αρκετά ατμοσφαιρικό σε συγκεκριμένα σημεία!
Επίσης θέτει ένα σημαντικό ερώτημα ως προς ένα ζήτημα που αφορά τη συμπεριφορά των ανθρώπων μπροστά σε ένα πρόβλημα που αφορά κάποιον άγνωστο!

Typisch Charlotte Link, typisch gute Mystery. Verschiedene Spuren, viele Figuren, verschiedene mögliche Motive alles scheinbar ohne Zusammenhänge.

Samson beobachtet Frauen. In Gedanken flüchtet er sich, aus seinem einsamen und erfolglosen Leben, an ihre Seite. Besonders angetan hat es ihm Gillian. Bis er enttäuscht feststellen muss, dass seine Traumfrau ihren Mann betrügt. Dann wird dieser auch noch ermordet. Und in London wurden zwei einsame ältere Frauen auf dieselbe Weise umgebracht.
Samson gerät unter Verdacht und flieht, kann aber von Gillians Liebhaber aufgespürt werden, während ihre beste Freundin an ihm zweifelt...

Es gibt einige unerwartete Wendung und öfters stellt sich die Frage, wer hier lügt und wem man trauen kann.
Bis alles zusammenkommt, ist die Geschichte gut strukturiert und spannend. Auch die Auflösung ist gelungen und obwohl es am Ende schon etwas nachlässt, liegt das nicht daran, dass der Täter schon vorher entlarvt wird.

Ο «Παρατηρητής» της Charlotte Link είναι ένα καλογραμμένο αστυνομικό θρίλερ, αλλά κι ένα βιβλίο που καταδύεται στα πιο βαθιά ανθρώπινα συναισθήματα και πάθη και τα αναδεικνύει με ιδιαίτερο τρόπο.

Πρωταγωνιστές του είναι άνθρωποι με εντελώς διαφορετικές προσωπικότητες και διαφορετικό κοινωνικό υπόβαθρο, οι ζωές των οποίων θα βρεθούν μπλεγμένες σε ένα περίεργο γαϊτανάκι, που θα τους ενώσει με αόρατες κλωστές σε μια ιστορία που αποδεικνύεται πιο επικίνδυνη απ’ όσο θα μπορούσε κανείς να φανταστεί.
Ο Σάμσον Σίγκαλ ζει με τον αδελφό του και τη νύφη του. Άνεργος και χωρίς να έχει καταφέρει τίποτα αξιόλογο στη ζωή του, περνάει τις μέρες του παρατηρώντας τους γείτονές τους και όσους συναντά στον δρόμο του. Κι ενώ οι ζωές τους, αλλά και αυτές των υπόλοιπων ηρώων, κυλάνε μέσα σε μια ήρεμη ρουτίνα, δύο περίεργες δολοφονίες αναστατώνουν την πόλη, αλλά και την αστυνομία. Τα θύματα δολοφονήθηκαν με βάναυσο τρόπο, αλλά δεν φαίνονταν να έχουν κάποια σχέση μεταξύ τους. Όταν θα αποδειχτεί πως η Τζίλιαν ίσως βρίσκεται επίσης στη λίστα του άγνωστου δολοφόνου, ένα διαφορετικό κουβάρι μυστηρίου θα αρχίσει να ξετυλίγεται. Σκοτεινά μυστικά θα έρθουν στο φως, κλειστά στόματα θα αναγκαστούν να ανοίξουν, άβολες αλήθειες θα αποκαλυφθούν κι οι ζωές των ηρώων θα έρθουν τα πάνω κάτω. Ο Σάμσον, αφού θεωρηθεί ως ο κύριος ύποπτος για τις δολοφονίες, θα το σκάσει προκειμένου να μην τον συλλάβει η αστυνομία· είναι όμως αποφασισμένος να αποδείξει σε όλους την αθωότητά του και να βρει τον πραγματικό δολοφόνο, προτού η Τζίλιαν πέσει στα χέρια του…

Η πλοκή του βιβλίου είναι εξαιρετικά δομημένη και έξυπνα κατανεμημένη: σε κάθε κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζονται σκηνές από τις ζωές όλων των ηρώων, γεγονότα που συμβαίνουν παράλληλα ή που ακολουθούν το ένα το άλλο, έτσι ώστε ο αναγνώστης παραμένει πάντα σε εγρήγορση, νιώθοντας πως ζει τα τεκταινόμενα από πρώτο χέρι. Οι προσωπικές ιστορίες των ηρώων αρχίζουν να ξετυλίγονται παράλληλα με τον πρώτο φόνο, και παρόλο που αρχικά φαίνεται πως όλες τους είναι αυτόνομες, στην πραγματικότητα ήδη από την πρώτη σελίδα του βιβλίου χτίζονται οι γέφυρες που θα τις ενώσουν στην συνέχεια, με έναν τρόπο που πραγματικά εντυπωσιάζει.
Εκτός από συναρπαστική, η πλοκή είναι επίσης αρκετά καταθλιπτική· κάτι που μάλλον αποτελεί γενικό χαρακτηριστικό της γραφής της Link. Η καθημερινότητα των ηρώων οπωσδήποτε δεν είναι ούτε ευχάριστη ούτε ιδανική· χωρίς λογοτεχνικές ωραιοποιήσεις, αλλά με ρεαλισμό και ωμότητα περιγράφονται καταστάσεις που αντικατοπτρίζουν την πραγματική ζωή. Οι ήρωες διακατέχονται από ανασφάλειες και φόβους, ονειρεύονται ξέγνοιαστες μέρες μα καταπιέζονται από τα κοινωνικά πρέπει, τρέμουν μήπως έρθουν στο φως τα πιο βαθιά κρυμμένα μυστικά τους, ενώ πίσω από τις λαμπερές βιτρίνες της ζωής τους επικρατεί σκοτάδι και πίκρα. Ο καθένας από αυτούς έχει κάτι που θέλει να προστατεύσει με κάθε τίμημα, κάτι που φοβάται πως θα του πάρουν για πάντα, ενώ με εξίσου παθιασμένο ζήλο προσπαθεί να διατηρήσει τα κεκτημένα του και να μην αφήσει τα γεγονότα να ανατρέψουν τη ζωή του, αλλά και το γνώριμο περιβάλλον στο οποίο έχει συνηθίσει να ζει.
Το αστυνομικό μυστήριο μπερδεύεται με τον ανθρώπινο παράγοντα με τρόπο γοητευτικό, δημιουργώντας ένα κράμα συναισθημάτων που ποικίλλουν από την αγωνία για την αποκάλυψη της ταυτότητας του δολοφόνου, μέχρι τη συμπόνια για τα βάσανα των ηρώων. Κατά τη διάρκεια του βιβλίου ο αναγνώστης έρχεται κοντά τους, βιώνει μαζί τους τις καλές και τις κακές στιγμές της κάθε μέρας, συμπάσχει μαζί τους κι αγωνιά – και, μερικές φορές, ίσως αναγνωρίζει κομμάτια του εαυτού του σε έναν ή περισσότερους από αυτούς.

Η συγγραφέας έχει κάνει εξαιρετική δουλειά τόσο ως προς το αστυνομικό κομμάτι της ιστορίας, όσο και ως προς τα ψυχογραφήματα των ηρώων και την περιγραφή και αποτύπωση του κοινωνικού περιβάλλοντός τους. Προσαρμοσμένο στην εποχή μας, όπου όλοι έχουμε προβλήματα αλλά ταυτόχρονα προσπαθούμε να διατηρήσουμε μια επίφαση λαμπερού και ξέγνοιαστου βίου, προσποιούμενοι πως όλα πάνε καλά στην καθημερινότητά μας, αλλά και στην απομόνωση και την καχυποψία που χαρακτηρίζει την πλειοψηφία των ανθρώπων σήμερα, ο «Παρατηρητής» είναι ένα βιβλίο που αποδεικνύει πως η Link έχει στήσει μια ιστορία που μπορεί να είναι λίγο θλιβερή, αλλά ταυτόχρονα απόλυτα ρεαλιστική. Κι αυτό, όπως και να το κάνουμε, έχει τη δική του γοητεία.

Three and a half stars.
I don’t read a lot of crime novels but this one hooked me in, despite the description of the murder initially that had me wondering if I would read it at all. Somehow I had to.
This novel covers some serious issues like loneliness, being different, abuse, parenting, domestic violence, and the issue of keeping silent or speaking up when something is wrong in a relationship. Some of the questions raised gave food for thought. In the course of uncovering the murders of several women and one man, there are a few twists and a few red herrings before the end. Given the topic of murders of women, I suspect it was not the book to be reading at 2am. Our house suddenly seemed to be making lots of noises. Too much imagination is not always a good thing. Fortunately I had my trusty guard dog sitting next to me so knew if anything was really there she would have reacted in a flash.
Even though I had my issues with a couple of the characters and their behaviour at times, I was hooked in enough to want to see how the plot panned out. The ending had me riveted. I simply had to keep reading till I finished it. Thankfully this was in daylight over breakfast.
Maybe it’s not exactly literary writing but it is compulsive reading and really that’s probably what you want from this genre.

I liked this book, until I found out who did it.
Old women are being murdered in the novel, and the book becomes a chase to find the killer before the next victim. The revealing of who it was...it just didn't vibe that much for when it was explained why this person did what they did, but I didn't think the reasoning was all that original or worth having read the whole book.
'The Watcher' is also a name for another character in the story, who watches people in their homes for fun. That particular character ended up doing something big in the end, but I just felt that he became a minor character, and it seemed that the story had to make sure it added him at the end, since he was a big part of the story in the beginning.
This was my second novel of Charlotte Link. Until the reveal, I like her books. After the reveal...not so much.
But it was an entertaining read regardless.

Charlotte Link è un’altra delle tante autrici che, per motivi a me oscuri, avevo sempre inconsciamente evitato. Poi, leggendo qua e là in rete qualche consiglio su letture di thriller psicologici, il suo nome è risaltato fuori e questo inspiegabile inconscio rifiuto si è trasformato in curiosità. Abbasso dunque pregiudizi e rifiuti inconsci, come sempre: ogni autore andrebbe assaggiato prima di poter giudicare, e questa ne è l’ennesima dimostrazione!
“Oltre le apparenze” si è rivelato un gran bel thrillerone di stampo psicologico, capace di tenere sempre desta l’attenzione del lettore e ricco di personaggi normali, nelle loro fobie, nelle loro debolezze, nelle loro mancanze. Il primo che incontriamo si chiama Samson Seagal, uno di quei tanti uomini “pesci lessi” di cui, ora, purtroppo, il mondo è pieno: timido, impacciato, incapace di relazionarsi con le donne (alle quali, tra l’altro, ne fa una colpa), privo di interessi. Un uomo senza sale e senza carattere, che abita col fratello e la cognata (il quale nutrono per lui rispettivamente indifferenza e odio) in attesa di poter trovare un’occupazione: l’unica cosa che fa, infatti, consiste nello spiare quotidianamente giovani donne sole, osservando le loro azioni e seguendo i loro spostamenti, nel vano desiderio di vivere, attraverso quella degli altri, una vita che lui stesso non ha. Nel frattempo la città è sconvolta da una serie di efferati delitti di giovane donne sole….e, siccome in ogni romanzo di questo genere due più due dovrebbe sempre far quattro, ecco che non appena il vizietto di Samson viene a galla, il primo indiziato è proprio lui. Ma è davvero così? Il timido e strano Samson è davvero l’assassino che sta terrorizzando Londra? E’ la gente comune, più che la polizia, la vera protagonista di questo romanzo della Link: sono infatti una mancata vittima e il suo amante a indagare in quest’incubo senza respiro nel quale tutti, ma proprio tutti, possono essere il potenziale assassino. E, insieme alla gente comune, i fragili meccanismi che reggono i loro rapporti, spesso sfilacciati, falsati, in ogni caso difficili. “Oltre le apparenze” non ci parla solo di un assassino, ci parla anche di incomunicabilità, tradimento, sfiducia e depressione e del modo in cui devastano, talvolta in maniera irreparabile, le relazioni umane nella nostra vita quotidiana. Occorrerà davvero andare oltre le apparenze, come dice il titolo, per individuare il vero colpevole (Samson, secondo voi?), e capire perché è accaduto quanto è accaduto.
Insomma, dove ha toppato la Link? Semplice, dove toppano tanti autori, alle prime armi e non: ha messo troppa carne al fuoco, col risultato che il romanzo, seppur sempre chiaro, pecca, soprattutto nella prima parte, di un po’ di ripetitività, e avrebbe potuto essere diluito di un centinaio di pagine. Anche il coinvolgimento emotivo, ma questa è una cosa soggettiva, non sempre raggiunge ali livelli, nonostante la storia sia ben costruita e non manchi di nulla.
Charlotte Link è una nuova autrice tutta da approfondire. Temevo di trovare un’altra Elizabeth George, ma qua, per i miei gusti, voliamo un po’ più in alto: che tutti i suoi romanzi siano così?

Primera novela que leo de la autora y me ha gustado bastante.
Todo comienza con un prologo bastante impactante, y que no sabrás hilar casi hasta el final del libro, algo que te mantiene expectante durante toda la novela.
Por un lado tenemos a Sansón un personaje muy raro, del que sospechas de todo lo que hace, pero que según avanzas en la novela, yo, por mi parte hasta le he cogido cariño. Se pasa el día observando a la gente, sin trabajar, y escribiendo todo lo que ve… en especial a Gillian, una mujer que lleva una vida perfecta con su marido y su hija… o no…
Mientras tanto, aparecen dos mujeres muertas, en unas extrañas circunstancias, asesinadas de la misma forma pero que nada tienen que ver en común.
La trama se desarrolla de una forma bastante realista, con unos personajes bastante auténticos, a los que he juzgado por su forma de actuar, pero que también puedes llegar a entender… La forma de escribir de la autora, a pesar de ser un libro bastante largo, con capítulos largos, lo ha hecho muy ágil, ya que desde el principio te engancha y realmente no quieres parar.
Hice algunas teorías de quien podría ser el culpable, y la verdad que para nada me lo imagine. El final se destapa bastante pronto, de hecho quedaban cien paginas para acabar el libro, y esas cien páginas son una auténtica locura, con un ritmo frenético y muy interesante.
Además el motivo por el que el asesino mata, me ha hecho pensar y reflexionar sobre algunos temas bastante crueles y que incluso podrías llegar a entender por qué lo hace.
Asique si te gusta el thriller y que no te asuste lo largo que es, porque lo vas a leer en nada.

This book has gotten great reviews. I was somewhat disappointed in it. Many parts of it were rather dull and I found the book too long. The author does display good insight into the inner workings of people's twisted minds and parts of it are very well written. I have to say I found the ending rather implausible. This book was in translation; maybe it reads better in the original.

What the hell was this. I had so many problems with this book, ranging from the complete lack of suspense throughout this whole thing over the constant info dumping/repetition to the fact that this book would have needed some heaaaavy editing as it is just plain too long...

Bis zum Schluss spannungsgeladener Krimi. Auch hier rechnet man nie damit, wer der Täter ist. Mir hat gefallen, dass man aus verschiedenen Perspektiven pro Kapitel die Handlung erzählt bekommt.

Ein gutes Buch, was mich aber leider nicht richtig catchen konnte. Ich habe etwas länger gebraucht, um in die Geschichte und die verschiedenen Sichtweisen reinzukommen. Dennoch war ein ausreichendes Level an Spannung vorhanden, langweilig wurde es nie - nur vielleicht manchmal etwas zäh.
Mit dem Plottwist hatte ich nicht gerechnet, aber es hat am Ende alles absolut Sinn ergeben.
(Ich habe Samson schon etwas ins Herz geschlossen, John ist mir bis ans Ende allerdings unsympathisch geblieben)

: Ho conosciuto quest'autrice per i romanzi a sfondo storico, ma ultimamente la sto scoprendo anche in un nuovo filone, quello del thriller psicologico in cui si dimostra magistrale.Due omicidi seriali e poi un terzo che sembra non avere niente a che fare con gli altri due. La Link si diverte a farci seguire varie piste, salvo poi dimostrarci che non portano a niente, quindi la suspense sempre alta e il ritmo della narrazione molto serrato tengono il lettore incollato alle pagine, nel tentativo di individuare il colpevole. Ma niente è come sembra e quindi bisogna saper leggere oltre le apparenze per scoprire che a volte l'orrore si cela proprio dietro alla normalità e quindi ci può assalire e colpire proprio quando non ce lo aspettiamo ma soprattutto da parte di chi è meno sospettabile.L'autrice è come sempre molto abile nel descrivere i personaggi, sia fisicamente, che caratterialmente, soprattutto quelli femminili. Anche in questo romanzo troviamo il tema della solitudine, dell'isolamento e dell'emarginazione con cui alcuni personaggi devono fare i conti nelle loro esistenze in cui manca un punto di riferimento, un po' di conforto o aiuto per affrontare le problematiche di ogni giorno. Unica anomalia, a ben più di cento pagine dalla fine l'autrice ci svela, a piccoli passi, alcuni indizi che ci porteranno a capire chi è l'autore degli omicidi, probabilmente per avere la possibilità di spiegare con calma al lettore le cause e i moventi che hanno portato agli stessi. Un finale letteralmente al cardiopalma, da leggere in un fiato per arrivare all'epilogo...e su questo chiaramente non svelo niente, per non rovinare la sorpresa. Brava Charlotte, uno dei suoi più riusciti romanzi, secondo me.

En realidad serían 3.5 estrellas si Goodreads admitiese medias estrellas (seguiré repitiéndolo hasta que pongan la opción). En general no está mal, pero el principio es un poco lioso y con tantos capítulos de personajes diferentes me he aburrido un poco hasta que han empezado a conectarse todos ellos. Y bueno, el final es predecible y se me ha hecho largo, así que sí, esperaba más, pero tampoco ha estado tan mal. Entretenido y con un par de cosas interesantes.

[ ❗️Achtung, inklusive S P O I L E R N❗️]

Es gibt Bücher, für die gerade nicht der richtige Zeitpunkt ist. So ging es mir mit diesem Buch 2019. Nach rund 50 Seiten legte ich es zur Seite. Und ich griff erst dieses Jahr wieder dazu. Und es war absolut Liebe auf den zweiten Blick 😍

Der Schreibstil konnte mich sofort abholen. Die Kapitel sind in Kalenderdaten eingeteilt. Das Buch startet am 31. Oktober und endet am 20. Januar. Die Kapitel sind nochmals unterteilt in verschiedene Perspektiven. Wer also eine Geschichte sucht, die passend zur Jahreszeit spielt, wird hier definitiv fündig.

Zum Fall selbst: mit der Auflösung hätte ich so nicht gerechnet. Es wurden immer wieder (falsche) Fährten gelegt, über die der Leser dann in den nächsten Abschnitten grübeln konnte. Wie oft hatte ich Gänsehaut beim Lesen?! 🙈 Als dann die Initialzündung zur richtigen Spur kam, nahm die Geschichte richtig Fahrt auf. Die Motive für die Taten waren absolut schlüssig erklärt. Mein lieber Schwan. 😱 Eigentlich kann man nur Mitleid haben. 😔 Hier verwandelte sich ein Opfer zum Täter und niemand bekam etwas davon mit. Meiner Meinung nach gehört auf die Buchrückseite eine Triggerwarnung. Wer nicht über se*uelle Gewalt gegenüber (Stief-)Kindern lesen möchte, sollte tunlichst die Finger vom Buch lassen!

Zu den Charakteren: absolut aus dem Leben gegriffen. Sie waren für mich total authentisch beschrieben. Wahrscheinlich liefen uns alle schon ähnliche Charakter im Leben über den Weg. Doch Gillian und Samson mochte ich besonders gerne.

"Der Beobachter" war mein erstes Buch von Charlotte Link. Aber es werden definitiv noch mehr Bücher von ihr folgen 👍

Fazit:
5 von 5 Sternen, absolutes Highlight

Eigene Kritik an mich und Empfehlung an alle, die das Buch lesen möchten: ich las das Buch zu langsam. Während der Kapitel wurden Details wie Schnipsel verteilt. Im ersten Moment scheinen Kleinigkeiten kaum von Bedeutung zu sein, ergaben dann aber am Ende ein großes Ganzes. Wenn man wie ich das Buch zu langsam liest, vergisst man eventuell das ein oder andere Detail.

Una historia que incia de una forma que te quita el aliento🤯 pero que no terminarás entendiendo hasta casi al final.

Todo comienza con un par de asesinatos y todo apinta que nos estamos enfretando a un asesino serial, y todo apunta a Samson un chico que su "hobbie" es espiar a personas, muy en especial a mujeres ¡pero nada es lo que parece!

Para mi gusto un poco larga la trama, y con bastantes personajes que de inicio se enreda uno, pero poco a poco todo va tomando sentido.

Charlotte Link has done it again. This is a bloody good read. It's suspenseful, has enough misdirection that keeps us guessing about what is really happening. There are many layers to this story, all of which seem disconnected from the rest but, boy, does it come full circle in the end.
Charlotte Link has special touch with which she makes us actually like the bad guy. We start to question: is he really a bad guy at all or just a guy lacking in confidence and who just seem to keep doing tghe wrong things all the time?
The book is well paced, it keeps on building, relentlessly adding to the suspense, the mistery. The beginning might seem a bit hard to follow as many characters are introduced and nothing seems to make much sense, but somehow the book is still unputdownable. I never guessed the real culprit. The misdirection points somewhere else. Hence when the reveal comes it's truly a WTF moment. Loved it.
If you like a good suspense, a well written murder mystery, then this book is for you.
Charlotte Link hasn't disappointed yet. A great read.

If you want a book full of tension and gruesomeness, this is it. In the beginning, I needed to put the book down and walk away; but before long, I was sucked in and couldn't put it down. The story is very Mary Higgins Clarkesque; a very similar style and very family oriented. But it digs a little deeper and shares a little more detail. A very good read!

Wow! Schon lang war ich nicht mehr so an ein Buch gefesselt! So unglaublich spannend! Und gut geschrieben! Ich kann gar nicht glauben, dass ich vorher noch nie ein Roman von Charlotte Link gelesen habe. Das Ende hat mir auch gut gefallen, auch wenn ich es schon vorher ein bisschen vermutet hatte. Aber sehr gute Hintergrundgeschichte! Ich hoffe, dass dieser Roman noch verfilmt wird!

2,5 αστεράκια και πολύς κόπος για να το διαβάσω. Πλατειαζε απίστευτα, οι πρώτες 200 σελίδες θα μπορούσαν να είναι 50, δεν είχε συνδετικό ιστό που να σε κάνει να έχεις έστω κάποια συνοχή κειμένου, πετούσε εικόνες και πρόσωπα που τα έχανες για 260 σελίδες και τα ξαναεβρισκες μετά. Οι χαρακτήρες δεν με επειθαν και δεν με τραβούσα ώστε να συμπάσχω μαζί τους, η ιστορία τους δεν αποκτούσε σάρκα και οστά όπως θα έπρεπε να για με απορροφήσει. Ήμουν πολύ κοντά να το αφησω στη μέση αλλά έχω ocd με το να τελειώνω τα βιβλία που αρχίζω.

Πολύ καλό! Με κέντρισε η υπόθεση, και ο σταδιακός εμπλουτισμός της ιστορίας με καινούργια στοιχεία αυξάνει την ένταση και το μυστήριο. Οι απαντήσεις αρχίζουν να διακρίνονται σχετικά αργά, οι ήρωες αλλάζουν μορφή, εκεί που νομίζεις οτι κατάλαβες ποιος είναι ο δολοφόνος, τα πάντα ανατρέπονται και η αγωνία κορυφώνεται απολαυστικά μέχρι το τέλος.
