Has your memory ever failed you? Have you ever been unable to remember what you ate for breakfast? Whom did you meet for lunch? How did you get to the other side of town? But most importantly, how, and why, did you end up in a car accident?
The main character of TRIGGER, Sheila Nelson, has a mundane life. While her days are monotonous, she’s only ever forgotten one of them. After that lost day, strange visions begin to haunt her dreams at night. One can only could this “missing” day have been as unremarkable as the rest of her ordinary life?
How can you rationalize dreams of locking up a frightened, helpless girl in a damp, hidden basement? Why is Sheila able to see this girl’s fear so plainly, and feel the weight of a heavy razor in her hand? Is this just her overactive imagination at work or is she retrieving lost fragments of her memory? Is the accident all that was erased from her memory? What is Sheila hiding?

Thank you for the advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review

Sheila Keeps seeing a lady in a basement, could hear moans but would wake up every time before she could see the face. Gradually she began to see more of the face in her Dreams and then the girl made the news.

She believe this stems from her accident on August 18 and that something happened to herself to make it that she can’t remember the events.

This was a good read, kept me intrigued throughout.

This is a great story. The beginning of the book is a little confusing, but I feel the author did this on purpose because the main character is struggling to remember what is going on in her own life. The confusion is minor and not enough to frustrate the reader, so I thought it was an interesting approach.
I enjoyed the thriller aspects of this story and it really kept you guessing until the end as to exactly who the culprit is.
This was my first time reading a book by Margo Ervand, but I will definitely have to try out a few more of her titles.
Thank you for my ARC. I appreciated being able to read and review this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The character development, the twists and little clues unfolding as Sheila tries to regain her memory had me absolutely hooked. Especially in the second half of the story.

At times, it was mildly repetitive and a little slow but that’s likely because the main character suffers from amnesia, following a head injury from a car accident. She also has some serious self-confidence issues stemming from her childhood that you can tell fuels her paranoia and not-so-finest moments.

The ending left me with questions, wanting more (Did the meeting* go well?! Did she get closure?) and wishing that harsher consequences came to the neighbour after their incident*.

Thank you so much for the ARC, I’m excited to read the final published copy to see if much changes (or if I notice any other breadcrumbs throughout the story!)

Trigger tells the story of Sheila, a single Mum who has lost her memory following a car accident. She has vivid nightmares where she gets flashbacks and visions of a girl, tied up and hidden in a basement. Sheila can't work out if she's seeing the girls that have gone missing in the news; if so, how has she seen them? She must have been there as it feels so real, but was it against her will or was it her who imprisoned and killed them?

The premise of this book is really good. I love the idea that someone has a fragment of their time missing and genuinely can't work out whether they have committed horrible crimes during this time. The characters were well written, although the six year old son seemed much older than his given age.

I enjoyed the writing and the twists and turns along the way. I read an early edition of this book, and feel that it would benefit from further editing as there were several inaccuracies.

But overall, I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by this author.

My thanks to the author for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

Intriguing!

Thank you for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book! At first it seemed to be a little all over the place but you have to remember that the main character, Sheila, has amnesia. I figured out who the antagonist about half way through. However, the twists that came of that were excellent!! I felt a tad robbed at the end because I was really expecting a “reaction” from the characters opposite of Sheila. But she doesn’t care to get that so I guess I’ll be fine with it too. Lol. I was rooting for her the whole time. Just goes to show you that you can’t trust just anyone.

The story was pretty good. You got to experience it through the eyes of the main character, who was suffering from retrograde amnesia. The story would repeat itself quite a bit, but that’s to be expected when you’re reading from the mind of the girl who lost her memory. The story does come together pretty well at the end and I’m glad things turned out as well as they could, all things considered.

I really enjoyed this book! Though it starts out slow, it gains traction in the second half. Full of twists and turns, this book really caught my attention. You have the unreliable narrator - who literally has amnesia - and several red herrings throughout the story, leaving you to ask yourself “who did it?”. Though the flashbacks can be a little confusing the ending ties everything together with a nice little bow. Stick with this book to the end, I promise it’s worth it!

This book was a little confusing in the beginning but after learning the characters and the plot you understand that the main character was in a car crash where she has trauma and can’t remember a specific night. She flips back in fourth from having memories from that night and her actual life. It’s interesting to see how the story unfolded. I would have never guessed the ending and I liked the story.

I enjoyed this book! Sheila is involved in an accident, which causes her to lose her memory of what happened on August 18th. The book takes you through Sheila’s thoughts and many thrills as she tries to find out what happened on that day and clear her name from any wrongdoings. There were many times I thought I had the conclusion right but I thoroughly enjoyed the intense, thrilling ending. Keeps you on the edge of your seat!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

Have you ever had trouble remembering things? We’re not talking about the little things like where you left your keys, but something much larger. Like how did you end up in a car accident in that part of town?

Trigger starts off kind of slow and is a bit confusing, but once the story starts flowing you’re going to want to hold on to your hats! This book will twist your mind and make you question your own sanity. You will want to join Sheila as she gathers fragments of her memories and tries to piece together the events from that day.

I was lucky enough to receive a free digital copy of this from the author in return for an honest review.
I dived right into this as the subject matter intrigued me, and I wasn’t disappointed. I read the book in a day. It truly had me hooked. The amnesia situation really kept me guessing, and I had many theories as to who and why with every page turn.
I would definitely recommend this to read. It’s a total page turner.

Addictive Thriller!

This was an incredibly thrilling story! I am now suffering from a book hangover. It began easily enough and I read a bit each night before I went to sleep. I was trying to figure where the story was going and suddenly I can't stop reading staying up late and getting up early to finish. Wow! It is well worth the lack of sleep!

I found this book very slow to start with which was frustrating as I like to be drawn into a book into the first few chapters. It was very repetitive in the the writing which got a bit boring. Half way through it started to get better but the actions of the killer early in and throughout the book gave it away. The ending was great so got and extra star for that.

I was given an ARC copy of this book.

I enjoyed reading it. The beginning was a bit slow but I understand that it was part of building the character. The second half held my interest, I didnt want to put it down.
I was definitely shocked to find out who the killer was. It really makes you rethink who you anticipated it to be.
I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys psychology thrillers.
Definitely needs be edited for grammar errors and sentence wording.

*ARC review*. Wow, what a ride! The twists in this book just keep coming, making you think you’ve figured it out just to make you second guess yourself a few pages later. Definitely didn’t see that ending coming. The main character is a mess, and after a while I was over her “poor me” mentality, but it’s all part of the storyline and explained later so makes sense once you finish the book.

The beginning was difficult for me to follow but looking back after finishing the book, I believe the author did that on purpose because of how the main character’s mind and life was. Once I got into the flow of the book, it was hard for me to put down. This is put on my reread list because I enjoyed it and to see what I may have missed the first time.

I felt this book was a bit all over the place. There were so many different elements/sub plots included it was a bit too much. I was able to guess the killer and wanted to finish the book to find out if I was correct and why they were killing the girls. I also found there were some inconsistent parts throughout the book.

It took me a week to finish this book due to life (lol) but this is a great read for me. I keep looking forward to continue reading and every time I keep guessing.. I admit I got confused at first but as the story progresses it all made sense. I like how it ended and ties everything.

Great story. Every time I thought I knew where it was going I was wrong which is very good. I had a hard time occasionally figuring out where the MC was but that did nothing to lessen the intrigue of the book. Definitely enjoyed the story.
I was given a copy to read and review.

I thought the book was quite interesting. Shiela drinks way too much but that has nothing to do with her memory loss on August 18. The book has some interesting twists and turns throughout. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this! It starts out rather confusing and repetitive, but it makes sense due to the character's mental state throughout most of the story.

It was an addictive thriller I didn't want to put down, that kept me guessing from the beginning.

There was some awkward dialogue here and there, but overall it was very well done. Definitely an enjoyable read, I recommend checking it out.

It started off kinda slow, and was hard to get into. But it finally got my interest & I just had to know what happened!! I did actually predict the twist (which has never happened before). There were a ton of typos, but all in all it was a good book!

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged the entire time. I do feel that a lot of things were overly descriptive and unnecessary, and there was a lot of repetitiveness. Overall, it was a good story. I would read more by this author.

This book had a great storyline but I struggled to keep up. I’m really not even sure I can fully explain what it was that made it difficult for me. The MC had amnesia and I assume that’s why it was written in such a way; but it made it very difficult to follow. I spent a lot of my time confused and having to re-read. I also struggled with what seemed like, a lot of details about things that were not vital to the story. If it WAS vital, it took way too long to become vital.
There’s a lot unclear…like you’re trying to learn about the MC while, she also, is learning and for me; that made it very confusing. Not knowing what info to hold onto and what info to let go of as you read along. I have no doubt it was written like that on purpose due to the story line. But it made it very difficult for me to follow along because my brain was trying too hard to grasp something it didn’t even know if it needed to…
I think the only way what I’m saying will make sense, is if you read it yourself…then make the decision for yourself.
This was just not the book for me.
I like to include in my reviews, that I have Aphantasia. I’m a full on 5. This means I do not, at all, visualize, hear, or smell anything at all while I’m reading. I have no senses that help me absorb the story. I think it’s important to know that about the one reviewing the book. If you’re a 1, you will have a completely different experience reading and this may be a perfect book for a 1 on the phantasia scale.
