The 12th edition of this popular casebook includes key U.S. Supreme Court opinions, updated information on scientific evidence, new questions and hypotheticals, and common courtroom objections.
Specifically, the new edition adds two important new Supreme Court cases on the right to confrontation and incorporates the restyled Federal Rules of Evidence. It introduces a revised organization of the materials on hearsay, to reflect better recent developments on the confrontation right. The chapter on the best evidence rule has been extensively updated. Numerous changes have been made to bring other chapters to date. Older materials that have a tired feel have been dropped, but teaching favorites that have stood the test of time have been retained. Oversized cases have been edited to reduce length. The authors have continued the practice of choosing cases and other materials on the basis of teachability, and they have added new cases that promise to be fun to teach.
