Sea Horses #4

The Last Secret

Rate this book
Tamzin is trying hard to come to terms with the loss of Moonlight, whom she now knows is the Blue Horse, the kind spirit who is trying to protect her. Although the evil spirit of the Grey Horse has been quiet for some time, Tamzin is inexplicably drawn towards a rocky outcrop just off the coast and goes out in a little boat to investigate. Soon she realises it is a trap and the Grey Horse has succeeded in capturing her in his den. Her blue talisman isn't powerful enough to summon up the Blue Horse, until she spots a small fragment of blue glass - the missing piece of her bracelet. The Blue Horse and the Grey Horse face each other for the final time while Tamzin tries desperately to escape. With the help of the Blue Horse, her friends and her Nan, Tamzin reaches safety and the spirit of the Grey Horse is recaptured forever. And much to everyone's surprise and delight, Moonlight returns, a pony once more.

Louise Cooper was born in Hertfordshire in 1952. She began writing stories when she was at school to entertain her friends. She hated school so much, in fact—spending most lessons clandestinely writing stories—that she persuaded her parents to let her abandon her education at the age of fifteen and has never regretted it.

She continued to write and her first full-length novel was published when she was only twenty years old. She moved to London in 1975 and worked in publishing before becoming a full-time writer in 1977. Since then she has become a prolific writer of fantasy, renowned for her bestselling Time Master trilogy. She has published more than eighty fantasy and supernatural novels, both for adults and children. She also wrote occasional short stories for anthologies, and has co-written a comedy play that was produced for her local school.

Louise Cooper lived in Cornwall with her husband, Cas Sandall, and their black cat, Simba. She gained a great deal of writing inspiration from the coast and scenery, and her other interests included music, folklore, cooking, gardening and "messing about on the beach." Just to make sure she keeps busy, she was also treasurer of her local Lifeboat station.

Louise passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. She was a wonderful and talented lady and will be greatly missed.

I remember I read these books when I was about 11. This story was the one that made me realise the magic that books have and I fell in love with reading. I think i'll look into buying copies and re-living my childhood. As a teacher, i'd love to introduce these books to children in the classroom. A beautiful story!

It's a beautiful finish to this series. I kind of wish the news was that Tamzin's parents were going to be moving to Cornwall so that they could stay or that she would be coming more regularly during the holidays. However, I still loved the ending, and to the series of books that scared me when I was younger, I am glad it had a good ending.

I've read this book countless times since I was 13. It's definitely the most exciting book in the series. Was sad to knwo this was the final book.

It's about a girl who breaks a statue thing, and then an evil horse from the sea comes to seek revenge on her.
I enjoyed this series thoroughly and was sad to read the final book.
R.I.P to the Author. I was luckily enough to receive an email from her before she died, not a great email, I just asked her if she was bringing out any more books and she said she wasn't and something else, but I feel good knowing I emailed her saying I loved the series before she passed (pretty sure I told her that)

The books I own of this series are so well-loved by me/ I will never forget how much I adored this series. I am tempted to start reading them again. YES they are KIDS books, but they meant a lot to me and still do. They evoked so much imagery in my mind and made me feel gripped to my seat, I have never got that from many other kids books I have read before. If I ever lost my books of this series I'd feel really upset. Thank you Louise Cooper, your Seahorses series will always live on in my heart!
