About half of the survivors of an old spaceship crash have genes for (ber)serker rage. This unusual adaptation to a hostile jungle planet environment intrigued me right from the start. Teenage males crave the change. They want to become savage warriors. In women, the trait is considered dangerous. Young people have no way of knowing whether they will change for certain. Young Bart, born with leadership ability, is afraid that he is not going to change. His girlfriend is worried that she will. I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Bring on a sequel!
