Hand to hand combat training: Check
Cardio and strength training: Check
Daemon hunting: Check
Anomaly: Check

Check, check, check, check...That's all my life is. There's nothing ordinary about me. I'm "special." I know this because I'm reminded of it every stinking day. I can kick a Daemon's ass with both hands tied behind my back. I can run up a mountain without breaking a sweat. Know what I can't do? Get guys to notice me, or hang out with friends like normal people do. I can't just be ordinary because I have an Arch Angel for a mentor who is always breathing down my neck, and a family of angelic Guides and Protectors who scrutinize every little thing I do. Just for a day I want a life where I'm no longer some anomaly, where I don't have to feel like a lab rat.

And then I met Emrys. Okay, so my mentor and family hate him, but probably for good reason. After-all, he is a Soul Trader, and they aren't the most trust worthy beings. But, he is sooo hot with his green eyes, leather jacket and the sexiest tattoo you've ever seen running down his back. And-he doesn't treat me like a project.

I've got myself in quite a little quandary here. Choosing between my responsibilities and the Trader that holds my heart is something I didn't sign up for. Torn between two different worlds, I must now decide who to trust and who to walk away from. What's a girl to do? See what I mean? I am an anomaly. I am Jordyn.

Mrs. Tiffany, girl, girl, girl. I have to say, I am totally in awe of this book! I loved it. I read it straight through and the ending was a WTH moment for me (which I love btw). I have to say that it was such a refreshing paranormal book. I loved both lead characters, neither one was obnoxious and they complimented each other very well. I'm so excited to read the next and can't wait til it's out. I will say if you want to read something unique and fresh, this is definitely a book to check out. Tiffany King has continually shown us in her books that she is passionate about her characters and desires her readers to really feel engaged in the story. I loved it! Thanks Tiffany for a fantastic read!

I didn’t know this would be a spin-off of The Saving Angels trilogy!! I LOVED that Mark, Krista, and the whole band make appearances in this novel! I think the original magic from the Saving Angels trilogy was a bit lost, but I still really enjoyed Jordyn’s story.

Jordyn is the polar opposite of Krista. As one daemon says,

“You’re one freaky bitch.”

Jordyn’s like the bad-ass, hot tempered, strong, stubborn, rebellious teenager that I wish I had the guts to be when I was younger. She was totally awesome, and I just loved her sense of humor! Her quirky sarcasm and general attitude was a breath of fresh air. She’s also really bad-ass, as she can kill daemons with her eyes closed, and in her sleep. She’s an “anomaly” and it’s not clear where she comes from, and how she’s exactly related to Krista and Mark. However, she has all these powers, or gifts, that Krista and Mark (the Ascended) have. But one thing is clear – Jordyn is no angel.

It wouldn’t be fair of me to compare Jordyn and Emrys’ romance to Krista and Mark, but I found myself doing just that. Obviously, because Jordyn and Emrys aren’t “linked” or bonded, or soul-mates, their “love” didn’t feel all consuming, and somewhat paled in comparison to Krista and Mark. However, Jordyn and Emrys did have major chemistry. My only gripe is that I wished there would’ve been more interaction/dialogue between Jordyn and Emrys. I also would’ve liked more context + explanations regarding their draw to each other; and more clarification on the world of soul traders.

I think it was a great kick start to the series, but it didn’t feel wholly complete. There seemed to be a lot of missing links, loose ends that needed tidying up, more character development, etc.

"What do you do when you're not working?" she asked, saying the word carefully.
"I enjoy spending time at the theater."
"Really? Broadway?" Krista asked surprised.
"Porn," he answered.

Hilarious.

I hope the sequel follows through w/ some clarifications. Also, I hope to see more of Emrys and Jordyn. They barely spend time with each other, yet they’re so drawn to each other. I just hope they’re not declaring their love for each other without good reason.

4 stars - A fresh take on the world of daemons that will have you swooning over Emrys!

What can I say, this is a Tiffany King book. I always love her books. But this is the first time I've read anything paranormal from her so this was a new journey for me. What I found was a fresh take on the world of Deamons that had me swooning over Emrys!

Emrys. Still so mysterious, I'm totally in love with this boy. I want to know more about him. But what I do know is that he has PERFECT timing and wow can this boy kiss! He has feeling for Jordyn and they seem pretty strong. The attraction started immediately and the feeling came over some time. I loved the trips to the top of the Empire State Building (Cover!). Sometimes the time they spent together was quiet or we didn't hear all the conversation. I missed that. I would have loved to see this book be a little longer and had some of it. I suspect it was done on purpose so we didn't learn too much about Emrys. Oh but I really want to know EVERYTHING about him.

Jordyn is a interesting sort. I like her okay. She a bit too perfect in the fighting Daemons side of things. I guess I understand why with what we found out about her at the end but she has to have a weakness, right. Maybe it will be Emrys. A girl can hope, right? I totally and completely LOVE her snark. The girl can put snark out there with the best of them. She kinda reminded me of Alex from the Covenant series in that regard. I sorta feel sorry for Jordyn, too. She's been lied to and kept in the dark a lot. I'd be totally pissed if someone who claimed to care about did that. I'm really anxious for book two in this series. NEED to know what she does about it.

The pages flew by and I finished this one pretty quickly. Had to force myself to stop reading several times (getting up early for work was the only reason). Could have read it in a day if I'd had the luxury to do so.

If you're into the YA/NA paranormal reads, then this one should be on your short list to read.

Paranormal is not by preferred genre and within that genre angels are my least favourite mythical characters. And on top of that Daughter of Smoke and Bone has set the standard of angel books for me so most others I read fall far short of that. Jordyn had to do a lot to impress me and make me overlook my initial doubts. But it did, I enjoyed this book and I found it a quick, entertaining read.

My Recap :

Jordyn is practically a daemon killer machine. She is an orphan and lives with her aunt and uncle and spends her day in combat training with her arch angel mentor. Then she meets Soul Trader Emrys and events kick off that finally result in Jordyn finding out what her life mission really is.

My Thoughts :

Jordyn is a very entertaining character to. She is fierce, well able to kick ass with her lightening sharp reflexes, she is stronger than a team of men, plus she is feisty and funny. However the way she talks will either annoy you or make you laugh. Her expressions are slightly unusual for a 17 year-old - for example.

“Of course, it would be all-holy-hell-monkey-asses when they found out the truth.”

They just made me raise an eyebrow at how silly they are and then laugh but I can see her turn of idiom irritating some readers.

The romance was fun. We didn’t find out a lot about Soul Trader Emrys until the end of the book but he is the perfect bad boy. Dark, mysterious, dangerous and sexy; a pretty lethal combination. I did find it a bit quick how willing Jordyn was to trust him and to go anywhere with him. And we are not talking about going down the road for a coffee; no, he transported her to Shanghai for a tattoo. Insta-love is a pet hate of mine and it does feature here which turned me off a bit.

The pace of this book is quirky. We are thrown straight into the action and into to some vicious daemon ass kicking however nothing is really explained about the world until nearer the end of the book. This worked well though as Jordyn has memory loss and can’t remember any further back than 1 year ago and she is as clueless as to what is going on around her as we are. As a reader, I felt like I was uncovering secrets along with Jordyn and could feel her shock and betrayal as facts were slowly revealed.

Jordyn’s aunt is an author and I loved the conversation at one stage where she referred to the book bloggers who have claimed her character as their book boyfriend. It just made me laugh as it reminds of so many fangirl bloggers that I know and love!

“Don’t be too hard on him. You know he’s my book boyfriend.” I reminded her, dropping a kiss on the top of her head before heading off to my room.
“You might have to fight off Shana from A Book Vacation blog on that one” she joked, mentioning one of her favourite book bloggers.”

My overall feel about this book is that if you prefer contemporary fiction to paranormal fiction this book may appeal to you. However if you are a die-hard paranormal fan, then this might feel like para-light to you. It worked for me and I’m looking forward to checking out the sequel over the next few months.

When I first read a sneak peek at the first chapter of this book, my first thoughts were of Cassandra Clare's The Mortal Instruments series, my all-time favorite series of books that I've ever read. I was a little worried having that in mind as I sat down to read this book, but I knew I would enjoy it anyway because Tiffany is made of mucho awesomesauce and never disappoints me.

I was NOT disappointed in any way.

OMG! Words cannot begin to describe just how much I enjoyed this book. Time was lost as I sat and read. Everything fell away from around me as I fell into Jordyn's world, fell in love with Emrys, and learned what it meant to be "special". This story is action packed, leaving you breathless at the end and begging for more. Jordyn is a 16yo anomaly, not really an angel, but not sure what she is. The journey to that discovery is filled with angst, passion, swoon-worthy romance, anger, and betrayal. From the first words, you will not put this book down until the end... and then you will beg the author for the next book (as I did).

If I was able, I would give this book 10 STARS for it's absolute awesomeness. IMO, BEST BOOK OF 2013 so far - and we're only 2 months in!!

Light but entertaining YA Angel/Demon paranormal romance. Manages to keep it light and balance YA romance with paranormal story. Nothing amazing, but quite readable and a welcome change from overly emo paranormal romances.

This surprised me. It jumps into the action straightaway. I didn't realise it was a spin off of another series.

I first saw Jordyn earlier this year and after reading a sexy excerpt, I knew I had to read this! Not to mention, it's Tiffany King. And I love everything I've read by Tiffany. So this was a no-brainer!

I do feel like a lot of the book was setting everything up for what was to come towards the end. I'm glad we got to know Jordyn's character and I love that Tiffany didn't info-dump on us. She didn't hesitate in throwing us into this paranormal world, but she also didn't overload my brain either.

I really liked Jordyn's character. She's a tough, snarky heroine who can kick some serious ass. She doesn't hesitate in saying what she's feeling and I loved her sarcastic, no holds attitude. She is definitely relatable to the younger crowd because she talks just like they do. It was strange at first to read about a heroine who talked so similar to my high school kids, but then I realized: she's 17. And that's how 17 year olds talk! What struck me as strange to read, really grew on me because it really defined Jordyn's personality. However, Jordyn is special. She's not a Guide or a Protector, like her friends and family are- she's just a girl who can lay you flat on your ass without another glance. She can literally set Daemons on fire while they're in their true form. And like the blurb says, she has an Arch Angel who serves as her mentor. However, all that is great, but Jordyn doesn't want to be special. She longs for normalcy. She wants to be able to date, go to school, and not have someone always constantly watching out for her. So what do 17 year olds do when they feel suffocated by authority? They rebel, of course!

Jordyn meets Emrys, who, even though he's a Soul Trader and she doesn't know if he plays for the Light or the Dark, she is still drawn to him. She likes the danger and the mystery surrounding him. She craves the uncertainty, the freedom he has to offer. And he's certainly not bad on the eyes either! However, her Arch Angel mentor, Haniel does not trust Emrys and neither do her aunt and uncle. They go out of their way to ensure Jordyn is protected and watched over. Obviously, this doesn't blow over well with the girl who feels suffocated and is tired of playing by the rules. I really liked Emrys and I hated that I felt conflicted about him. But I really was waiting for the other shoe to drop. His and Jordyn's relationship seemed to be flowing too seamlessly- so I knew something big was going to happen. These two really do have some very hot scenes together- and I can't wait to see the direction Tiffany will take them in the second book!

We readers really know about as much as Jordyn does about her past, her powers, and what her purpose is in the grand scheme of things. Haniel is quite tight-lipped when it comes to divulging information. He takes his orders from the Light and I am quite curious about his role in Jordyn's life and why he has held back so much information from her.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I felt it was a good way to start the series. Tiffany definitely left me ready for more, especially after the spiral of events at the end!

OH MY GOD!! I can honestly say that I am struck speechless, like seriously speechless. I was like wait what and then I was like OMG and then I was like No and then UGH no freaking way! Now I’m like please give me the next book, like I needed it yesterday! Ok so this is a wicked twist on angels, daemons, and soul traders. It’s a given that Tiffany King ranks extremely high in my book. Why? Well it because no matter the subject matter of what she is writing I feel like I can relate it to some section of my life even if the book is about angels, daemons, soul traders, and the anomaly known as Jordyn. How can I relate you ask? Well that simple, I’ll give it to you in a quote…

“I was alone. Alone to ponder the cards I had been dealt. Alone to make sense of what I was.”

Most people won’t own up to it right away but I believe part of moving on and growing is dealing with the cards you are dealt. Do you believe in faith and that we all have a destiny? Well in Jordyn, destiny is set out for Jordyn but not in the way you would expect considering you’re dealing with angels. So Jordyn is 17 a few months shy of the big 18 and earning what she would hope to be her freedom… little did she know that the Light has bigger plans for her. Plans that have been weaved into a web of lies. By everyone she’s trusted.

Then she meets Emrys. A hot green eyed boy who’s not a boy but something more? But is he good or bad? Is he there to help her or defeat her? SO many questions for this hot boy that make his appeal that much more alluring. There’s something about the mysterious bad boy look that has all the girls turning their head. I know I do and you give me a “…green-eyed, rebel-hottie…” that has a tattoo, *clears throat* yes please! The thing is, like most bad boys, he has this hidden sweet side.

“To me it does,” he said quietly before grasping my hand in his.”

It doesn’t stop there though. Emrys is seriously an awesome character that I fell in love with. I call dibs on him Tiffany!! Lol but seriously. It’s cute to see how he acts around Jordyn and I love their playful banter. I just love everything about this book and cannot wait for the next book in this series.

“Sweets, all my plans begin and end with you.”

Can I just say I would love a kiss from Emrys! If Jordyn reacted the way she did, granted it was her first kiss, but my first kiss was nowhere in the vicinity of that kiss! *fans self* But just as everything is starting to look good things get muddy. Trust goes out the window when lies start to unravel. Who’s lying, what are the lying about, and what’s happens? All questions you are going to have to find out by reading Tiffany King’s new amazing novel JORDYN. When you get to the end you are going to want more and like right away.

So in the words of Jordyn, “holy freaking frick “ you are going to devour this book.

I haven’t read a paranormal book in a while so I was a bit nervous when starting this one. I love the genre but I wasn’t sure what to expect. Tiffany did not disappoint though. This book was wonderful.

The Characters

Jordyn is our main female character. Her witty dialogue makes for a very fun read. She talks how I would expect a smart-alleck teen to talk. Her “truth” cracked me up time and again. Her sarcasm reminded me of myself at times. I just felt like she would be my friend. I felt bad for Jordyn though. I can’t imagine living my life the way she has. Basically she woke up and had no idea who she was or where she came from. Can you even think about how that would be? To have no memory of parents, siblings, friends; to have no memories at all? I can’t and it makes me ache for the person that Jordyn is now and I understand her need to rebel against her “elders”, who are merely a few years older than her. I would be doing the same thing. I was kind of expecting her to be non-human but wasn’t quite prepared for how it all went down.

Emrys. The man you want to dislike but can’t help but love, Emrys. I wanted to hold his hand and have him whisk me away. I wanted to go sit on top of buildings or beaches with him. I mean, who wouldn’t love someone who could take you away from everything stressing you out?!? I wanted to not like him. I did. Tiffany made him seem like he was a bad guy and, I think he really is in ways. But, he fell for Jordyn and I fell for him. I love that he stuck up for her and that he was willing to act “normal” for her. It gave me hope for who he could be. Darn it if it didn’t all go to hell though. Frick (as Jordyn would say)!

My thoughts

I really enjoyed Jordyn. It grabbed my attention and I couldn’t put it down. Darn it, I was up until 2am reading this book! I often freak out when I am reading series books because I don’t like the suspense of waiting. Thank you Tiffany for not leaving it as a huge cliffhanger. I can still get some sleep while waiting for the next book. That said, I want the next book. I need to know what happens with Jordyn and Emrys. I need more Emrys. He is the ultimate bad-boy and I just want to have more of him. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy, fun read. It is not hot and steamy and could be read by teens; classified as young adult and I see no problems there. Don’t be afraid of this being part of a series because it ends in a way you can handle waiting for book two. Great job Tiffany on this fabulous read! I really enjoyed it. Now, how long until book two again?

Tiffany King has done it again with Jordyn! I just finished The Saving Angels Series a few weeks ago, and was excited that Jordyn would be out soon! I also WON an Copy of the book from Mrs. Tiffany King herself!!!! Eeeeeekkkk!!!!

Jordyn is a Daemon Ass Kicking Expert. She can take on 1, 2 , or who knows how many Daemon on at once, and they are all toast when they meet her! She has been told since she met all the Guides and Protectors that she is "special." She'd give ANYTHING to be normal. Her first chance at normal is when she meets Emrys. There's only one problem.... he's a Soul Trader. Will Jordyn go against the ones that love her? Will she find that he is a weakness for her? Will she let the first chance of normalcy pass her by or will hold on to it and never let it go????

I have to say that I was BEYONG EXCITED to read this book! I was even more excited and in love with it when I decided Jordyn is my FAV! She can kick Daemon Ass any time and anywhere! I also love the fact that she struggles to fit in with everyone else. She's not like any other from the group. She is also younger, and they feel the need to protect her... which I found as amusing as her due to her abilities.

Now lets talk about Emrys.... Oh, Emrys! He stole my heart... even if he's a "bod boy" in Angel/Daemon world. There was just something about him. It could have been the fact that looked like a rock star or in the words of Jordyn herself.... "Emry in jeans and a leather jacket equaled hot. Emrys in slacks and a button-down shirt qualed scorching." (Jordyn) I felt he actually wanted to get to know Jordyn. Also, the fact that he took the time to get to know her for who she was just made me smile!

This book was Daemon Ass Kickin FABULOUS! I love how we get to know Jordyn, and also get to see how all of our friends in The Saving Angels Series Haniel is still Haniel... Krista, Mark, Shawn, Sam, Robert, and Lynn are all there. We get to see Jordyn figure out who she is, meet Emery, and discover the unknown. Also, Tiffany King leaves the end of this book at a point where you are praying.... PLEASE DON'T STOP HERE... not only does Jordyn BIG OLE BOMB get dropped on her by Haniel and Emrys, now her only friend is being herself. I guess on a positive note at least she's got sand, water, porpoises, and solitude?!

I also can say it's safe to say I will try to patiently wait on Tiffany King to get Jordyn (A Daemon Hunter Book Two) published! I do believe that it is going to be tough! I might even resort to a little Daemon ass kickin myself to kill some time!

At the beginning I was a little annoyed with Jordyn, but I really like her snark, her attitude, her ability to kick ass, and she's not a cold, shut off person - though she has reason to be.
The book drags a bit, really stretching out a budding romance with Jordyn and a Soul Taker. But it shows her character and gives her a chance of something that is so utterly important - a sense of freedom. Freedom from lies and secrets, freedom from responsibility (even if it's just an afternoon trip away), freedom from things that are crushing and suffocating her in a way that she doesn't always realize. She's okay with her responsibility - she totally loves kicking demon ass - but she knows nothing about herself. She can't remember her past.

Maybe I'm at a disadvantage for not having read King's Angel series books, but I'm kind've glad that I haven't started one of them yet (I think I have the first two - I have the first for certain), because this is a spinoff of those books.

I could relate to Jordyn in a way I'm not always able to with some other characters. Many people take the fact that they know their history, their families' histories, where they came from. So many people don't even have to think about it and I don't hold it against them for the luxury of that knowledge. Jordyn and I are fan girls of the History Channel for the same reason. And it may be an abstract, shot in the dark of ever knowing more (and even then, is it truly worth it?) A quote I highlighted on my Kindle as I was going along is this:
"They didn't seem to understand how frustrating it is to know nothing about who you are, where you come from,..."
So very true.

The only thing that got to me was the slang that Jordyn uses. The majority of it is just grating, and seemed a little too immature for a heroine weeks away from being 18. Some of it made me laugh, some of it fit and was set in place well and was IC, but there were times where I just shook my head and kept going. Not sure what to chalk that up to really. The biggest offender of the slang issue in my mind is probably when her lack of focus causes her to lose her balance and she ends up with both knees fairly scraped up (one bleeding down her combat boot, into the snow) and her equivalents of "oh hell, holy mother of fuck" is replaced with phrases that barely seemed to make sense IN context.
But the book is gripping, intriguing, and has its main characters fleshed out enough for a first book in a series.

Bottom line: I want more.

This book is a Wonderful spin-off of my Favorite Tiffany King series called The Saving Angels series!

It brings back all of the Amazing characters from The Saving Angels series we fell in Love with as well as introduces some new ones too. All the characters intertwine their story with that of Jordyn's. Jordyn is our new Spunky, Firecracker character with an Attitude to boot, Sarcastic as Hell, but Sweet natured too ;) She has some Pretty Special abilities... one is she can Kick some Major Booty! (which makes me kinda Jealous LOL) Jordyn has no memory of her past what so ever, all she knows or thinks is the truth is that she lost her parents in an accident and now lives with her Uncle Mark & Aunt Krista. Jordyn is angry that everyone seems to be hiding things from her and treating her as a child who needs babysitting or that she is this Special being everyone wants to study or rely on. Jordyn just wants to be treated like a normal teen girl, go to a dance, maybe date a boy who likes her for who she is not what she can do. Jordyn most of all wants to remember her past life. Now here comes another Newbie named Emrys... Can we say YUM ON A STICK?? He is simply Gorgeous with the same Sarcastic and Fun personality as Jordyn. Jordyn just can't stop herself from wanting to be near him, he makes her feel things she never has before and most important he wants to get to know her for her. Emyrs is questionable though... he is a soul trader and everyone keeps warning Jordyn to stay away since they tend be untrustworthy. Jordyn can't help how Emyrs makes her feel when he appears and she wants more. Before we know it everything kind of implodes on her life and she doesn't know who to trust anymore. It's just a web of lies from both sides. People she trusted as her family and friends to be honest with her and the new boy who makes her heart Swoon all lying in one way or the other. Jordyn has no clue as to who to Believe anymore, it's all become kind of Fuzzy. What will happen in the sequel? Who will Jordyn listen to or stand by?? Will Emrys fight for her and prove he Loves her???
I for one am Anticipating the release of the sequel to see what happens next!!! Buy yourself a copy TODAY you don't want to miss out on this story!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mystery, suspense, romance, and a whole lot of adventure:

Jordyn is a fighting machine. With no memory of her earlier life, with a rigorous training routine, her life is all about fighting.

But what she wants is a little less aggravation and a little more normalcy. As much as she enjoys her duties – despatching Daemons with her honed skills – there’s a big lacking in her life which requires a good deal more attention from some good-looking boy and a good deal less attention from dark forces.

The reference to her guardianship – via Krista and Mark – is tidily explained as a link back to the Saving Angels Series. So even if you read this book as a standalone, you can easily pick up the back references… and if you’ve read the series from which this book is a spin-off, the author’s exposition is neatly slotted in as a reminder.

…So all we need now is a boy to capture her interest…

Enter Emrys, the definition of a ‘Bad Guy’ – whose occupation as a Soul Trader is highly disapproved of by those who care about Jordyn. Nevertheless, there’s something magnetic about him that Jordyn finds hard to resist. You’ve got to read through the teasing prompts of the storyline patiently to see whether the guy gets the girl or whether the guy gets kicked on his back by an angry Jordyn.

And that’s what a lot of the story is about… Jordyn’s anger at having an empty past, and her frustration at having an uncertain future in a world of special-skill individuals, a world in which she is unsure just quite where she’s supposed to fit in.

There’s a liberal quota of secrets and misdirections to keep you puzzling throughout. A great cast of supporting characters from the original series. And a new discovery of a previously unknown skill which Jordyn uses to escape the pressures and, at times, overwhelming responsibilities that have been pressed upon her. Aside from being a great paranormal/romance, this is also a fascinating adventure. And, of course, it finishes with a clever hook to lead you onto the next book in the series. Recommended.

This wonderful spinoff novel really had me on pins and needles as I read. It picks up a few years after the conclusion of the phenomenal Saving Angels series, and I was a complete fan girl stalker when I found out that King was working on a spinoff series!! I absolutely adore the Saving Angels novels and couldn’t wait for this one to come out. And, I certainly wasn’t disappointed! King has written another masterpiece, just like every other novel that came before it, and I am in absolute awe of her sheer writing abilities!

Truth be told, I wasn’t a real fan of Jordyn (the character) in the beginning… her lack of ability to follow the rules drove me a bit crazy, and her extreme cockiness and disregard for her family’s feelings really made me livid. And yet, she’s completely and one hundred percent real. Her thoughts and feelings, especially as the odd one out in a family of daemon killers, make complete and utter sense, and it is no wonder she falls for Emrys so quickly as he offers her a world of freedom, something she has yet to experience in her own niche with aunt and uncle.

And Emrys? He’s perfect. If I were to have a book boyfriend, it’d definitely be him! First of all, he has an s on the end of his name, which is something I’ve loved ever since I was in high school myself, though I very rarely meet someone with a plural name. And second, he embodies the lovely bad boy image with his tattoos, leather jacket, and nonchalant attitude, making him my very own dream come true. Let’s just say that he sets sparks flying as he enters the scene, and I adore him, just like Jordyn does.

Kings story flows seamlessly, taking readers along for the ride as Jordyn discovers her wants, needs, and abilities when it comes to love, daemons, and the truth about her past. I was pleasantly surprised by the twist at the end of the novel, and I’m already dying for the next installment.

Jordyn is a kick ass daemon hunter. Emrys is a cunning and charismatic soul trader. From the moment they meet, they are instantly drawn to one another. Jordan doesn't know why she is so intrigued by him or what he wants from her but she can't stop thinking about him or feeling butterflies when he is around. It is instantly obvious that he is as taken with her as she is with him and despite her family's warnings to stay away from him, she can't help the magnetic pull he has on her. The question is, what does he really want and why is he really there?

I loved Jordan! She is probably one of my favorite female leads in a while. I love her snarky attitude and her general awesomeness. I love that she maintains her cool demeanor around Emrys even though she is a puddle of goo on the inside. He is charismatic by nature and she doesn't let that affect her. She cuts to the chase and calls him on his crap. I think that is why he is so intrigued by her. Emrys is sexy as hell from the beginning and I loved him. He is so charming and he has a way with words that turned me into a puddle. I love the interaction between Jordan and Emrys and how perfect they seem to be for each other.

The majority of the book was spent building up the relationship between Jordyn and Emrys and her training and relationship with her guardians in an effort to prepare us for the plot of the series. I felt like the plot wasn't really revealed until the end of the book so I was definitely left hanging on the edge at the end, especially since so much related to the series plot was revealed but left hanging. I also loved that this is a spin-off of the Saving Angels series and didn't realize that until I started reading it so I was pleasantly surprised. I am looking forward to the next book so I can see how Jordyn handles all that was revealed to her and how the plot will take hold.

First I must say, Tiffany King is AWESOMESAUCE! I've read all her books, and having a spin off of the Saving Angels series, is well Awesomesauce with a cherry on top.
I loved seeing the characters from the Saving Angels series in this book. Krista and Mark were my favorites. Jordyn, whom they adopted, is special. They were TOLD she lost her family and memory in a car crash. Jordyn is so special that she gets training from that , oh so AWESOME Arch Angel, Haniel! Yes Haniel is back. If you haven't met him, seriously go read the Saving Angels books.
Apparently Jordyn can kick Daemon butt, better than the protectors. Haniel is there to hone her skills and, yes as always keep secrets. (Sigh) sometimes Haniel can be Lamesauce.
Jordyn meets a Soul Trader named Emrys. He's hot, mysterious, sarcastic and totally amazingsauce. And Haniel doesn't want Jordyn anywhere near him. Does that stop Emrys from visiting, No. Does Jordyn act like the typical teenager and go places with him? OF COURSE. I will say for a dude who deals with the trading of souls, he's hot. After getting in trouble for going places with Emrys, Jordyn is put on house arrest. Then Mark and Krista agree to let her see him, based on normal teen dating status.
When on a double date Jordyn, Emrys, Lynn and Robert encounter some particular Daemons, information is brought forward that hurts Jordyn. Emrys was sent on purpose but wasn't fulfilling that purpose. What was it? And Hearing what her family and Haniel kept from her what will Jordyn do? This is a serious must read. I want the next book like yesterday.
So, if you want an awesomesauce book from the amazingsauce Tiffany King, go read this. You won't be sorrysauce. (Please note all the sauce's were in theme with part of the story)

I was so excited when Tiffany announced that she was writing Jordyn. I missed her Saving Angels Series and was glad when she was bringing it back with a spin-off. With all this excitement brought high expectations and Jordyn was in no way a disappointment. I loved it!

Jordyn is definitely one of my favorite heroines ever. She's extremely snarky and sarcastic. Some of the things she said had me laughing out loud at my kindle. Her existence is extremely hard and confusing. She's the only one of her kind and can't remember anything past a few months ago. All she knows is her parents are dead and her Aunt Krista and Uncle Mark are now her guardians. Despite all that she pushes through and trains with Haniel and literally kicks-butt.

Enters Emrys *sigh* I couldn't help but love him even though we weren't suppose to because he is a Soul Trader. Jordyn couldn't help herself either and couldn't help being drawn to him. He's a great character because from the beginning he throws Jordyn's snarkiness right back at her with his innuendos and sarcastic comments. I love the bantering between them.

Tiffany brings us back all the characters we fell in love with in the Saving Angles Series. Krista and Mark are now the guardians of Jordyn and I thought it was really neat to see them in this new light of responsibility. Lynn shares many of the quirks of Jordyn and they become very close friends. All the guides and protectors are still kicking butt (but Jorndyn can now kick butt better). AND Haniel still has a stick up his butt.

Read Jordyn! You'll love it ESPECIALLY if you miss the Saving Angels and her paranormal writing! Tiffany King has killed it again and you don't want to miss her latest book :)

I just happened across this book somehow. I have read Tiffany King’s Saving Angels Series and loved it, so I thought I’d give this one a try. This story incorporates the characters from the Saving Angels Series, with a new one added in, Jordyn. Jordyn is an anomaly. She is stronger than the Guardians and Protectors, but she doesn’t know why. She is a 17 year old girl who has no recollection from her life before moving in with Krista and Mark. She is constantly training, since she is a Daemon hunter.

She meets Emrys, a Soul Trader, and feels an instant connection with him. But, according to the angels and Archangel Haniel, Emrys is not to be trusted. Jordyn, being the rebellious teenager, sneaks out and meets Emrys on a few occasions. She starts to fall for him.

I really did enjoy this book. There was a bit of a twist on the end, which now means I have to wait until the next book in the series comes out!!! I’m a bit older than Jordyn, which may be why I had some issues with her rebelliousness. I understand she is 17 and wants to lead a normal life, but she’s not normal. She constantly defies her guardians by lying and sneaking out. But, that is what rebellious teenagers do I guess.

I enjoyed how Tiffany King kept the characters from the Saving Angels series. The character development for Jordyn was good, but if you haven’t read the Saving Angels series, you won’t understand fully what is going on. I recommend reading that series before starting this book.

Overall, I give this a 4.5 out of 5! http://lkirk16.wordpress.com/2013/03/...

I will be the first to admit that I'm not a big fan of angel type books. Mist of them have characterseho are less than angelic and cuss like sailors. However, I do enjoy a good paranormal book about demon trappers and "Jordyn" is the perfect mix of demons and angels.

17 year old Jordyn went to live with her newlywed aunt and uncle a year ago after the death of her parents. She cannot remember her past and although she knows she is loved she still feels like a freak. You see, Jordyn suffers from the typical teenage angst but she is also a skilled demon hunter under the tutelidge of an angel, Hamiel. He continual keeps her in the dark only revealing what minor information he can get away with.

One day while destroying two demons, Jordyn meets a demon broker, Emrys. He is attractive and charming and even though Hamiel warns her to stay away from him, she just can't seem to resist. Much to everone's dismay, they begin sneaking off together and for once in her life Jordyn begins feeling like a normal teen.

As we all know, the course of true love never does run smoothly and surprises and betrayals will be revealed. The question is who will have to pay for the resulting damage? I really liked this book and although on the surface it seems Jordyn is an angry brat, the reality of the situation is she is a girl desperately searching for some sense of normalcy.

Without revealing any spoilers, the ending is just perfect. In the aftermath of despear, Jordyn finally gets her wish. She knows who she is but remember the old saying, "Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." This is truly the case for Jordyn.

Where did I begin?! Do I start with the awesomeness of this book? Do I tell you about the action at every turns of the book? Or do I tell you the crazy twist and turns of Jordyn's life? Oh, who am I kidding?? I am going to start with Emrys!!

Best part of the book: Tiffany brings back all the characters from The Saving Angels series and adds a few more.....YES ..... Emrys!! Oh I was not to sure about him at first because he was a Soul Trader and something seemed "shady" about him. However, the more the story went on the more I enjoyed the interactions between him and Jordyn! Empire State Building....need I say more. I really love the twists that Tiffany King throws into the mix. Jordyn has one crazy past and it is something that I did not even see coming. On top of that, as much as I dislike cliffhangers, I enjoyed this one very much! Very awesome!

Not so great about the book: *hangs head* I love every single book of Tiffany King's. Wishing for Someday Soon and Miss Me Not are, by far, the greatest books ever written (PERIOD!) However, there was is one thing that I did not like. There was a lot a cussing in the book. Now, I am okay with cussing with a fight scene or a romantic scene but for general conversation, I am not a fan. So, I skipped a lot of Jordyn's and Embrys' dialogue. I am so very sorry Tiffany King...I really did love everything else about the book.

I have to admit, I was afraid I was going to hate this book. I love so many of Tiffany King's books but I did not love the Saving Angels series (at least book 1..that was the only one I read) so I was afraid because this was a spin off of that series I wasn't going to like the books. But since I've loved so many other books by Tiffany King lately I thought I'd give these a try, especially because this one was free on my Kindle app. I was really glad I tried it.

It's a really fun story, and I really like Jordyn's character. I love her strength and her fearlessness. Her relationships all seem very real to me and I enjoy her banter and the way she keeps trying to get to know Emrys even though everyone keeps trying to warn and keep her from him otherwise. I loved reading about their time together and found myself wondering where he was going to show up next and where they would go together and how much trouble she was going to be in when she got home. I wasn't THAT surprised at the reveal at the end but it was still fun to read her reaction to the reason Emrys was really there and was happy with her reaction and what she did when she found out. Over all I really loved their story and it was a really fast read. I read it in a few hours and went ahead and bought the second book in the series. I hope I enjoy it as much as the first!

First off I am a huge fan of this book! You have the girl who kicks some major butt, Jordyn, and the hot Soul Trader, Emrys. What more can you ask for in a book? I am a huge fan of books that the girl doesn't need a guy. Jordyn, to say the least is epic! She is able to kick Daemon butt all on her own. Emrys, can I kiss you? Man that boy sounds amazing!

Although I was a huge fan of this book I felt that it ended very fast. Throughout the book Jordyn is either A) fighting Daemon's or B) Making out with Emrys. Don't get me wrong these things are both awesome, but at the ending (not spoiling) it was to fast. It did a 180 in a mater of seconds without warning or that much explanation. I will read the second in the series I just wish the ending would not be so abrupt as this book.

Lastly, pick up this book. Although the ending was very abrupt it is a great story. Girl who kicks butt. Hot guy. Annoying family. Yup, your typical YA book, with a twist! Buy now, you won't regret it!

I picked this up last night as I have read her previous series and was curious about this new book. I was pleasantly surprised, plenty of action and romance to keep everyone happy with lots of secrets thrown in. I know how I would feel if I had no memory of my past and was thrust into a new family albeit they are heavenly guardians but still the thirst for knowledge would persist. Her Arch Angel mentor is keeping secrets from her and being an anomaly has its good side and bad side, least of all you feel like you don't belong. In the midst of all this confusion, Jordyn meet Emrys who is the token bad boy and she is instantly drawn to him as he represents ultimate freedom. An interesting journey of self-discovery with a slight twist and I will be keeping an eye out for the next one in this series.

Jordyn is one bad ass chick! I honestly don't think I've read a character like her that is all around that bad ass! Lol on top of being tough as nails and super awesome with her daemon fighting skills she also has a smart mouth!! Which I love! Dripping with sarcasm is my kind of gal!! Jordyn knows she's good and she knows she's practically invincible and has no problems laying it out for everyone to know!
But being treated differently and with more care is starting to grate on her nerves and when that mysterious guy walks into her life and shows signs of being into her, she's taking a chance on him! Despite all the warnings she throws herself into it. But not all is as it seems! She may uncover several secrets that have her running off to be alone! This book was full of awesome fighting, a great plot, angst, romance, and wonderful bonds of friendship! I give this book my thumbs up!

Jordyn you know she's kickass when she doesn't fall for Emrys charms, "why? Because I'm not falling for your horsesh**? Haniel says you're dangerous and he hasn't lied to me yet." Emrys sweet lord in heaven I love him, "I make it a rule to never turn around when a striptease is happening in front of me." He's just so hot blooded, "this," he said, crushing his lips to mine." He's flirty, "guess not," he said, laughing. "Maybe you should hold my hand to make sure I don't fall and hurt myself." He's protective, "rules are fine, but not when Jordyn's life is in question, that's not cool." And of course I totally side with Jordyn towards the end of the book and agree with her a hundred percent, "really? Like between kisses or when you were conning me into thinking you were a good guy?" Can't wait for the next book.

DNF @ 25%. Maybe that was a little soon to DNF, but I'd been struggling with it for the last 15% or so.

I liked the beginning, how she went after the demons and just being within metres of her makes them combust. And Emrys' introduction was kinda fun.

I think it was just everything else. We didn't seem to get much information on anything else though, or I was having that much trouble with the style and plot that it just didn't register, and I just lost interest.

I found Jordyn quite annoying/immature and Emrys wasn't really in it that much for me to get an opinion on him...

Admittedly it was a freebie and had been on my kindle for a long time...and I only really tried to read it now as part of an a-z challenge in one of my groups.

It just wasn't really up my alley at all.

Tiffany King has once again presented us with another brilliant masterpiece! Jordyn, book 1 in the A Deamon Hunter Novel series is a story of a young girl trying to find herself, who she is, her past and where she belongs. A teenager unlike any other, Jordyn has gifts that make her special. She’s faced with many challenges and has to grow up before her time. Yet, all she wants is to have a normal life, be a normal teenager and have “THE” guy. Follow Jordyn on her journey as she discovers herself and see where her life leads her. It’s a fabulous adventure that is sure to capture you and keep you enslaved to the very end, leaving you starving for more.

I was looking forward to reading this for a while but was a little let down. I'm not saying it was a bad book, just not as good as I had hoped. It was a new twist combining angels and daemon hunters which I liked. It seemed like a combination between Half-Blood and Hush Hush. Both series which I adore, by the way. So I was really excited for this. My only complaint was that the relationship between the heroine and the hero took a while to get going. And then it seemed like the same things were repeated over and over again. The book ended too soon and felt awkward. Maybe the next installment will be better.
