She later majored in American history and African studies at Rutgers University. Her travels and lectures have taken her all over America, Europe, and Africa. In 1992, her rap album, 360 Degrees of Power, and video, "Slavery's Back in Effect," catapulted her to national attention. She lives in New York with her husband and son.
Winter is so annoying but I couldn't help but love her. Midnight is a man every woman wants. I wish SS would finish out Winter's story but I understand her reasons why she won't. CWE was the greatest urban tale ever told and the Midnight and Porchia stories were vivid with imagination.. All three are must reads
This lady opened literary doors for female hood writers everywhere. While she is not just a hood writer, you cannot be an urban writer/reader and not know who she is.
It took me a long while to get prepared to read this collection. I'm glad I invested the time. The Coldest Winter Ever was the best one. I don't think I've ever read a character like Winter. It's ironic how everything she loves, she abandons without remorse for the sake of self-preservation. She's the quintessential narcissist.
WINTER! OMG! and Midnight. They envoke some feelings in me that mm. I wish there was a movie but I also do not think anyone would do it justice! Sister Souljah girl, keep doing your thing!
This was my first book series! I couldn’t put the books down once I started them. The characters are well developed and take you into an urban love story leaving you wanting more.
Sister Souljah created the Book Collection that I encourage every Woman to read. This collection follows the Life of the young Midnight. I was so mesmerized with how he stood strong in his Islamic African Cultures; walking through the streets of Brooklyn. You will become a part of his Journey of Love and Life.
Each book ends on a sort of cliffhanger, yet you still get the sense of closure necessary to make a book fulfilling. I don't want to get into details, but for an intelligent yet drama and violence filled read, you can't go wrong with Sistah Souljah.
