Никол избягва с куфарчето на жертвата, в което е заключен диск, оценяван на милиони долари. On the surface this one could be pegged as one of those "the broken cop and the hooker with a heart of gold" stories. But I found it much more engaging than that; the characters were well developed and likable and the emotional baggage each of them carried added depth to each of them. Neither of them wallowed in the past - it helped shape who they were and their current actions, but they were not stuck in the past. Nicole, a high class call girl, witnesses the murder of one of her clients; the murderer, a big time mobster knows she saw him do it and must hunt her down and silence her. Jack, the lead detective on the case, must find and protect the witness while the killer is also found and then brought to justice (the police know who neither the witness nor the killer is - just that "somebody" was out on the balcony while the murder was taking place in the penthouse apartment). I liked this book; it had some good twists and turns and an interesting mix of characters. And of course, true to the broken cop/hooker with the heart of gold formula, after much conflict, Jack and Nicole get much closer than "cop protector" and "protected witness" should be.

This was a very fast moving book. A high-class call girl witnesses a mob hit and is running for her life. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially those who like mob related books!

A fast-paced novel with a familiar plot involving a mob hit and a witness on the run.
