Οι επισκέπτες
Η Ντορίτα, μια θεοζώντανη μαθήτρια της Β΄ Λυκείου ξεφεύγει από τα προσωπικά της και τα ερωτικά καυγαδάκια με το Δημήτρη και πασχίζει να συγκεντρωθεί. Της φόρτωσαν να κάνει μια ομιλία γύρω απ' αυτό που λέγεται "χάσμα των γενεών". Και ενώ γράφει και σκίζει συνέχεια ανικανοποίητη, της κουβαλιούνται από το παρελθόν, δυο παράξενοι επισκέπτες.
Οι αφηγήσεις και οι προσωπικές εμπειρίες τους, πότε τραγικές και πότε εύθυμες και σαρκαστικές, συνεπαίρνουν τη Ντορίτα. Η γυναίκα, η πιο σημαντική, είναι η πρώτη ελληνίδα πεζογράφος, η τραγική Ελισάβετ Μαρτινέγκο. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον έχουν και οι μαρτυρίες του νεαρού επισκέπτη που με χιούμορ και πικρία ανιστορεί τις ερωτικές αποτυχίες του και τα χάλια της παιδείας -όπου τυχερός λογίζονταν ο μαθητής που έχανε μόνο κάποιο δάχτυλό του από χάρακα και όχι και τα λογικά του... Ένα αφήγημα συναρπαστικό, απίθανο κι όμως απόλυτα αληθινό.

15 books141 followersDido Sotiriou (Greek: Διδώ Σωτηρίου) was born in Aϊdini of Asia minor, in 1909, the daughter of Evangelos Pappas and Marianthi Papadopoulou.
In 1919 she moved with her family to Smyrni (Izmir) but following the destruction of 1922 she fled to Greece. In Athens she completed her general education having as teachers the then literary figures Kostas Paroritis and Sophia Mayroeidis-Papadakis amongst others. She studied at the French Institute of Athens and in 1937 she briefly attended a course in French Literature at the University of Sorbonnis.
In 1936 she officially turned to professionally practicing Journalism. She worked for the magazine “Gynaika” (Woman) (as editor-in-chief) and then went on to work for newspapers “Neos Kosmos” (New World) and “Rizospastis” (The Revolutionist) (again as editor-in-chief from 1944), while during the duration of the German Occupation collaborating with Melpo Aksioti, Elli Alexiou, Elli Pappa, Titika Damaskinou, Elektra Apostolou, Chrysa Chatzivasileiou and other Greek women who were members of the Resistance.
In 1935 she took part in the congress of the Comity in Geneva, where she met Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s comrade Alexandra Mikhailovna "Shura" Kollontai and in 1945 she took part in the founding congress of the Women’s International Democratic Federation in Paris.
She first appeared on the literary scene in 1959 with the publication of her first novel “Oi Nekroi Perimenoyn” (The Dead Await). Her works have been translated into many foreign languages.
Dido Sotiriou belongs to the Greek novelists of the 1920-1940 eras. Her work moves in the planes of realism with the presence of the self biographical element strong and the emotional participation of the author in the adventures of her protagonists. Her material is derived from the Asia Minor Disaster, the Civil War period and the period after the Civil War in Greece.
With “Matomena Chomata” (published as Farewell,Anatolia in English) Sotiriou initiated her course towards a style of writing that combined fiction with her own distinct way of examining her issues from a historical aspect.
A course which continued and bled into her next two novels “Entoli” (The Command) which had as a theme the case of Mpelogiannis and “Katedafizometha” (Shattered).
She died in 2004.

Omg, I didn't expect to love this book this much but I ended up really, really appreciating it So fresh, with a great use of irony, fun but incredibly respectful towards important matters at the same time. A great praise for feminism, an inspired outcry against the toxicity of stereotypes and sexism and so understanding of youth. Overflowed me with respect, sympathy, admiration and gratitude for all the women before who had to endure tragedy and pain so I could have my rights - as well as a reminder to always value them and fight for them. Dido Sotiriou was such a badass for writing this and so was Elisavet Moutzan-Martinegou, whose biography's parts are included in this masterpiece! You have to read this!

Αυτό το βιβλίο ήταν μια έκπληξη και για μένα, μιας και ενώ περίμενα την διήγηση μιας ιστορίας, ήρθαν και μπλέχτηκαν δύο ακόμη, εκ των οποίων η μία ήταν της Ελισάβετ Μουτζάν-Μαρτινέγκου, της χαρακτηριζομενης πρώτης ελληνίδας πεζογράφου, δίνοντας ατόφια αποσπάσματα της τραγικής αυτοβιογραφίας της.
Αν και μικρό το βιβλίο αυτό, είναι γεμάτο ιδέες και γεγονότα που σε ταρακουνούν, και όλα περιστρέφονται γύρω απ την έννοια της ελευθερίας. Μας δείχνει τη ελεύθερη σκέψη ατόμων βαθιά καταπιεσμένων, δείχνοντας μας γιατί πρέπει να συνεχίσουμε να πολεμάμε για την ισότητα όλων.
Αν και μικρό το βιβλίο αυτό, είναι γεμάτο ιδέες και γεγονότα που σε ταρακουνούν, και όλα περιστρέφονται γύρω απ την έννοια της ελευθερίας. Μας δείχνει τη ελεύθερη σκέψη ατόμων βαθιά καταπιεσμένων, δείχνοντας μας γιατί πρέπει να συνεχίσουμε να πολεμάμε για την ισότητα όλων.

Ίσως να μην με εντυπωσίασε και τόσο γιατί υποτίθεται είναι γραμμένο για εφήβους...
Δεν μου προσέφερε τίποτα, εκτός απο το να λυπηθώ για τις τραγικές ιστορίες δυο νεαρών ανθρώπων που υπέφεραν στη ζωή τους λόγω στέρησης ελευθερίας. Δεν ήταν απαραίτητο να γνώριζα λεπτομέρειες για να είμαι υπερ του φεμινισμού, ούτε και ένιωσα καλύτερα όταν το τελείωσα.
Η αρχή της ιστορίας μου άρεσε περισσότερο, και ο τρόπος που εκφράζεται η κα Διδώ Σωτηρίου, δηλαδή οι λέξεις που επιλέγει και το στοργικό ύφος της στην ειλικρινή προσπάθεια να αποδώσει φόρο τιμής σε αυτά τα πρόσωπα.
