Ms. Voight was a native New Englander and lived in Hamden, Connecticut. She wrote many books for boys and girls, both fiction and non-fiction. Several of her books are set in the New England locale she loved so much.
5 stars automatically for books from childhood. However, I suppose this would be the feline version of Jack London's "Call of the Wild". And much like my opinion of cats when compared to dogs, I liked London's book a lot better. What can I say, I like doggies. Doggies have social skills. Cats? Cats will steal your soul if given half the chance. If you have a cat, have you ever awakened to find that cat mere centimeters from your face, staring at you and purring? If so, consider yourself fortunate. That cat was on the verge of stealing your soul by way of inhaling your exhalations. That purring sound? It's called a "soul grinder", and its sole (pun) purpose is to reduce your life-force to smaller, easily digestible bits. When you hear a cat purring on its own, it's merely testing the machine, making sure everything's functioning properly, a dry run of sorts.
