Based on a real story which was posted on 2ch, Molester Man is the story of how Molester Man is mistaken for a stalker by Miss Understanding, and how they overcome their personal challenges while slowly growing closer to each other.
This is oftenly suggested in the manga threads I browse but I always skip reading it, I was so happy that I finally took the chance to do so. Don't mind the title (or the art), you'll fall inlove with the characters and story. Best realistic romance. Very hilarious mc. This is one of the best mangas I've read!
4.5/5 (LOLd a ton while reading; not rating bc I cannot have this in my favorite books)
The old internet/chan culture of it made it really enjoyable - the unfiltered humanity being both troll but also a little kind is neat. Also, him being a little wack is too endearing (on a date: "i couldn't mention a * video, so I talked about the Iraq war instead") I also loved the artstyle, reminded me of MP100 - the Jojo references and Aizen reference were *chef's kiss*, but even otherwise paneling was often p smart. It's definitely a bit male gaze-y in comparison to villainess stories, but definitely super unique and fresh compared to most things I've read.
Anyway, idek what to do/read anymore, part of the problem of accomplishing the hardest thing is the emptiness afterwards, he yearns for the grind + 30-minute OST
The art style isn't anything to brag about, but do not let that sway you away from this amazing piece of work! The story starts out as a generic romcom but as it developed, I started getting more and more attached to the main character. I love the internal struggles that Molester Man goes through, and how delusional he is sometimes. He feels so relatable as a character and not just a propped up good/fake male character destined to get the girl in the end. If there's one thing to complain about this series, it's that I do not feel as attached as I hope to the other introduced characters, and I wish they were more developed. Overall, it is still a very good series and I would recommend it to anyone!
Molester man is the most hillarious and fresh written manga romance from guy's perpective I have evrer read. I personally don't like when there is not much art and a lot of texts but in this case it makes so much sense. Art can seem ugly on first glance but in fact it is just sketchy but very illustrative and fun. In puns like when one inner self does have face of Lord Aizen from Bleach ti is clear that author have no difficulty mimicking the style flawlessly.
The way how man's simplemindednes towards opposite sex is depicted is both realistic, boy-like and at the same time macho defying because ti makes fun of own sexism. In fact story about how healing it is for nerd to be able to suddenly have friends and possibly even love.
Chikan Otoko was inspired from a post in a certain forum, that read something along the lines of “Today I was mistaken for a stalker”. Indeed that is how the manga begins. Actually, our protagonist seems like a suspicious guy due to his foul bachelor lifestyle; 20 years old, living alone, half-assing his studies, and acts as a woman repellent. His gateway out of his half-hikikkomori, irl-friendless lifestyle is the darkest corner of the forum, where the foulest of bachelor's lurk, ready to troll and humiliate. A most glorious lifestyle. Hail to those of us who have experienced it (except the repellent part. I sure hope no one lived through such a phase).
After clearing the misunderstanding with the cute girl, he manages to get her to have another cup of coffee. Along the way he meets 3 beautiful friends of hers and the story goes on.
The first thing that is clearly wrong stares right at you; the art is bad. Simple as that. As you read the first handful of pages a second problem emerges; the panel arrangement has no sophistication. A lot (and I mean a lot) of pages consist only of text squares relaying a forum post or an email, basically switching the medium to a novel. A third thing that's wrong is, that while this manga tries to pass as a comedy, it is clearly not. After a couple of OK jokes in the beginning the humor dries out and the genre becomes that of a hardcore slice-of-life.
I noticed that people praise that style and find exciting the meticulous realism in the way that the manga develops. That would be nice and well, if it retained that realism in the major plot turns. Well it doesn't; at every major “event” the outcome is unrealistic, all to force the conclusion upon us, making all the realistic details we have been reading pointless and tedious.
Nothing in this manga stands out, and I can not understand the hype. Overrated, while being mediocre through and through. 5.0/10.
Great Romantic Comedy. The Character is so real. Love the realistic way his mind works...one version of what he is really thinking and another of what he says to the world. Makes you laugh...gets you hooked on to his love life. The art was a put off in the beginning, but started enjoying it as the story keeps moving.
At first.... AT FIRST... i though the art was total crap, but.... it was an awesome read in the end. The characters had were unique and they were all very funny in their own way to me at least. The story was interesting with its romance and whatnot. go go go! mr.molester! AND ITS NOT ECCHI DAMMIT
Loved this book, it references Train Man a bunch of times and it really reminds me of it as well. Train Man was one of my favorite jdrama shows I've ever seen, and this manga is way funnier.
