"AnimalScam is an absolutely must-read book for everyone who strives to understand what the 'animal rights' movement is all about. The information presented is thoroughly documented, so that some rational balance may finally be possible in the discussion of human uses of animals. AnimalScam may be long overdue, but now it will be a valuable reference and educational tool for a long time." - Dr. Dixy Lee Ray, Former Governor of Washington State and Author of Trashing the Planet and Environmental Overkill
This book spreads bias misinformation, finger points and seems to have no understanding of animal rights or animal welfare logic. The constant comparison that this author makes of animal rights activists being nazis is offensive and ignorent. It seems this book was ment to spread what it intended to fight,.misguided terrorism. I also wondered, while reading this book, if her opinions of global warming (she claimed as baseless) and the horrors of factory farming (she claimed cages were good for animals, physically and mentaly, boasted about how enviornmentaly friendly it was and also supported farmers use of antibiotics and hormones) have at all changed given the new shocking truths that have come out in the eighteen years since this book was published. True animal.rights and welfare activists have no affiliation with organizations or actions that were forced on them in this book and put no more value on animals life then a human. This book is the equivilent of saying all christians touch children, all muslims hate americans and all jews want palestinians dead. SHAMEFULL
I keep hoping to find a decent bit of writing for animal welfare as opposed to animal rights. Unfortunately, the author here takes the opposite extreme and sounds just as crazed as the animal rights crowd, simply arguing the other side. The first chapter is a good overview of the various animal rights groups out there, at least as far as sorting out the alphabet soup and their more drastic acts and positions all in one place. Aside from that, it feels about as intelligently put together as a typical PeTA flyer.
A detailed look at the money and ideology behind animal rights and groups like PETA. Which, according to this book, would essentially result in the end of life on the planet... But it makes folks a lot of money.
