When Kyoko’s heart is broken, she decides that revenge is a dish best served in the spotlight!
Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he’s casting her out now that he’s famous! Kyoko won’t suffer in silence—she’s going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz!
There's trouble on the Tsukimori set, and surprisingly it's not Kyoko's fault. Ren is having difficulty acting the part of a love-struck suitor since he's never really been in love before. Stressed by his sudden acting impotence, Ren goes MIA. Kyoko is determined to help her friend, and joins forces with Ren's manager. But as Ren sees the two of them getting close, he realizes he might know more about serious emotion than he thought!
Yoshiki Nakamura (仲村佳樹) is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
Well Sho clearly has issues. With just about everything. I didn't like him before and now I like him less. He is such an egomaniac! This volume focuses on Ren's acting and struggle with his new role. I kept fretting that the president was right! Yashiro starts to try to play matchmaker. Ren's relationship with the "Bo" is one I love (THE HEAD SCENE!!! LOL) That has me nervous but curious. Kyoko just keeps improving. I kept thinking they should make Mio the lead! I wan't to continue to get to know Itsumi.
***THIS HAS MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SOME OF THE LATER MANGA. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK***
It was very hard to see the usually unflappable Ren having so much difficulty portraying Katsuki in Dark Moon. At this point in the manga Ren seems invincible to Kyoko and so to see him struggle was hard for both Kyoko and myself.
It's only by knowing what happened later in the series that you realize that since Ren's father was in the original drama, and Ren has always felt like his father cast a huge shadow. That you recognize why Ren really wants to do this drama and to help it surpass the original. I also love that because of this need he realizes his feeling for Kyoko with some help from Bo!!! :D
Edit:
I still don't understand the plot for Tsukimori It's so complicated and we only get bits and pieces!
I love how good of a cook Kyoko is. If she didn't become an actress she should have opened a restaurant!
Too bad Kyoko can't be the chicken all the time. Ren opens up to her when she is. :/
It's funny how Ren has more sexual experience but almost no love experience and Kyoko is the exact opposite. Really funny.
Edit: (April 2020)
I started this again in April. I have a feeling I wrote the review too but I didn't date it so here I go again.
I love the little glimpses we get into the past. Especially Kyoko and Ren.
The fact it was Ren's dream this time was soooooooooooooo good!
After reading this at least 3 if not 5 or more times I have given up on understanding the Tsugimori plot. It's just incomprehensible to me.
Ren missing work is a huge deal! Noooooooooooooooo! Come back Ren!
I love Kyoko as the chicken!

(Still not beyond the content covered in the LA but luckily...) I think the whole Tsukigomori/Dark Moon arc is verrrryyy good. Both Ren and Kyoko come to some important realizations during this arc and also make big strides towards improving their acting. In this volume, Ren continues to struggle with his portrayal of Katsuki while Kyoko seeks to help him and Yashiro Yukihito seeks to push them together. kekeke (I'm on his team)
Ren returns to Bou's Couch for another therapy session. And... some stuff happens. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
We got so many cute moments out of this volume! Seeing Ren struggling was definitely new but realistic and I’m glad Kyoko got his back. How does this girl not realize he’s literally talking about her when be dropped the biggest hint there is. What other high schooler does he frequently interact with girl… Anyways, ik my man Ren got this and the drama gna turn out so good and he’s starting to realize his feelings due to the slump 😈😈 Not Kyoko unintentionally pushing him towards her while disguised as Bo I can’t. I love the Bo and Ren moments sm!
My favourite thing about this volume was the return of the character that I will forever refer to as "Therapy Rooster". That is, Kyouko wearing her Bo costume while offering advice to Ren, who has no idea that she is Bo ;D Tends to be a bit of a hit-and-miss but she usually DOES manage to help, which is good!
I really love that Yukihito is trying his best to get Ren and Kyouko to be a couple, and Ren is starting to work out his feelings for Kyouko... but she's completely oblivious and innocent 8'D
Side note: Shou's getting SUPER jealous of the "relationship" between Ren and Kyouko (which at present, is 100% in his head) and I love it :|

This volume really shows light on Kyoko and her acting talent. I really loved all the praises she received. She's really such a selfless person. She even blindly puts other people before herself. For example, Ren is struggling with find his character for the drama. He falls into such a pit, I was so sad for him. Kyoko comes along and really works hard to help him.
*MY FEELINGS FOR THESE TWO!!!!*
It displays how Ren isn't as perfect as everyone thinks he is. He is conflicted and complicated. He wears a mask to shielf himself. I love how it comes down even for a short time when Kyoko is dressed as Bo or when she's even herself.
I love all the characters in this story so much.
(Need to snag the next volumes from my local library.)
Honestly, while I do feel bad for Ren, I’ve enjoyed this volume immensely. Although it may seem like he is more troubled as he realizes his feelings for Kyouko, I think this is the perfect development in his search for “his” Katsuki, and what a great Katsuki he will be! I can’t wait to see what happens next!
On another note, I wish Kyouko was more honest. Yes, Mr. Yashiro did ask her to eat with Ren, but only because she asked for Ren’s schedule first. Meaning, she DID willingly want to spend her time with Ren, and not because Mr. Yashiro asked her to. So, when she tells Ren “Mr. Yashiro asked me to” I was so displeased! Just tell Ren you’re worried about him! Don’t use Mr. Yashiro as an excuse…. sigh. No wonder Ren was disappointed. He’d obviously think she didn’t come willingly. And she’s so dense… if the one Ren likes is in high school and she’s aware of that, how does she not suspect herself? Clearly Ren doesn’t spend a lot of time with high school girls. Actually, she’s the only high school girl I’ve seen him interact with! Ren likes YOU, KOUKO! But I guess she doesn’t need to know that yet because Ren is a gentleman and I love him with all of my heart!

OMGGG REN IS HAVING TROUBLE! Yup it is because of the whole girl thing. I never really "fell" for anyone. WOOOOOWW! I drug are you taking, can I have some? I fall for guys like ever other minute! If I ever have more fictional boyfriends (which I will), I think I will drown in them. Okay yup, back to the story.
I love chicken Kyoko. First, it is funny, second, we get to see the other side of Ren. We seem to be able to discover Ren and have his character develop even more. The conversation might seem boring but I really enjoy them.
AHAHAHAHA! I literally died laughing when Kyoko and Ren was watching TV. So clearly we know that they love each other but they have this thing with the age difference. Shoot, I should shut up, almost spoiled it. Heehee, sorry! Anyway, it is hilarious!
Comment on RenxKyoko: Complex and hard. I wouldn't want a relationship tough. But it is sweet too. ^//////^ I am so bipolar.
This vol was very interesting because I got to see how actors feels and how much under pressure they are also how acting of their co-actors can actually affect one’s acting. Mr. Yashiro is the best Ren and Kyoko shipper!! 😂❤️ I love seeing him! Also I’m so excited for the next volume how Ren will find his way to this character and how things between him and Kyoko change.
Ren and Kyoko are so dense! There are ton of volumes so I don't think this will-they won't-they thing won't end any time soon and as much as I usually don't enjoy that but maaaan, I can't get enough of these two.
Godo.

Today's post is on Skip Beat!, volume 11 by Yoshiki Nakamura. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Kyoko as Mio on it with flowers around her. The intended reader is someone who has read the first ten volumes, likes comedy and shojo manga. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close of the main characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the book- There's trouble on the Tsukimori set, and surprisingly it's not Kyoko's fault.
Review- So Ren has a moment that lasts for several days and he just cannot get his head into the game. Of course Kyoko wants to help but she is afraid to speak up as he is her senior and Ren can be mean. The problem is Ren just does not know how to connect with other people on a real level, so this character is a real struggle for him to understand. Add in his realization that he has real feeling for Kyoko and we have the drama of this volume. I liked spending some time with Ren and getting to see more into his head. I like what Nakamura is doing with his character and where he is going. I look forward to seeing how Ren is going to solve his problem in this drama and with Kyoko.
I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.
So this volume was dedicated to Ren realizing his feelings towards Kyoko. Now, I really do like Ren and I do think he and Kyoko should be together (of course at a much farther point in the story), but I had a problem with this volume. It was good, it really was (every volume in the series was good so far) but I really wanted to know more about Ren’s past. I know Nakamura avoided the topic on purpose, but I still thought that at least some of it should have been revealed this volume. I mean why would Ren be so opposed to a relationship? We have no reason for that in the story, so I was thinking maybe the secret to that lies in his past? But I don’t know, I’m just speculating... It still would have been nice to get more background and to have a little more depth added to Ren’s character. Either way it was really nice to get a bit more about Ren. Also it was incredibly amusing to see Sho jealous...
Ren really had me giggling and kicking my feet, he's SO cute!! I loved that we got a whole volume centered on him having issues with his acting, and being able to properly portray a character who he has trouble relating to. Ren and Kyoko are honestly so adorable, I simultaneously can't wait for them to get together, while also loving the slow burn of it all.
As an aside, it was quite hilarious seeing Sho flip his lid at Kyoko costarring in a drama with Ren, and I love to see him in turmoil, that rat lmao.
XD
Ren stuck on the Katsuki role, but Kyouko comes to the rescue as “The Chicken”. Funny how Ren asks for advice regarding Love to Bo, who is Kyouko in disguise. Then Kyouko unknowingly pushes Ren to pursue the “High school girl”. 😂 I think an age gap of 4 years is no big deal. There is really something holding Ren back. 🤔. The last panel of Ren realizing how he tends to react when Kyouko does something “cute” or “adorable” is insane. Like he can’t really do anything about that. 😂
Ren, just tell her you’re the one who gave her the stone… Jesus Christ…
For goodness sake, don’t do this to me, series. Do not make Sho be all “I like her” just because she’s around Ren now. I swear to God. The stupidest “love” triangle is gonna happen, I can smell it and I hate it. If the age gap and assholeness of Ren wasn’t a thing, I’d be all for Kyoko and Ren getting together, but both of those things exist, so I don’t want it unless there’s a time skip and he’s no longer an ass.

Skip Beat follows the story of Kyoko Mogami, a sixteen-year-old girl who loves her childhood friend, Shotaro Fuwa, but is betrayed by him. Having spent a large part of her childhood at Shotaro's parents' inn, she learned a great deal about hostelry and other such jobs.
3,5 stars The close-ups are wonderful, but the figures are drawn too tall. Kioko is a selfless person, always willing to help others. She was the most suitable choice to work in the "Love me" section of the agency. Ren has a crush on her. But he doesn't know it yet, or doesn't want to admit it.
Ren-centric volume. What a shift to see Ren struggling in a role! Though, I sense these chapters played better when serialized but back-to-back in a bound volume things felt repetitive and drawn out. Kyoko was in full LME support mode. Enjoyed getting more flashbacks of "Corn" and Kyoko.
