4 SOLID STARS!

In Tempting Acquisitions, we see a family owned company that is now being ran by the three sisters who are the heirs to the company’s legacy. Keira McBride’s story is up first, and boy, is it a really tantalizingly good one to read.

Keira is the CEO of her family’s magazine and has worked her butt off for the last ten or so years trying to bring it back to its former glory after her father essentially ruined what was a flourishing and well-supported publication.
Throughout the story we are shown how dedicated and committed to the magazine Keira and her younger sisters, Camryn and Mayson are to their jobs. All three are strong, independent, successful women who work hard and don’t play quite enough. And we all know what they say about all work and no play, right?

Unfortunately, at a time when the sisters are trying their best to revive one of their very long-standing magazines, trouble arrives in the name of Nathan Cooper. And he’s the kind of trouble we all wished we had in our lives, at least in my opinion.

Nathan is a billionaire who takes over companies for a living and is quite excellent at his job. So when he sets his sights on Keira’s company, the sisters are forced to take up battle stations because Nathan is as ruthless and business savvy as he is gorgeous and charming. But of course, he has some of his own issues that prompted him to become the man that he is today. And will he be able to go against the grain – what he feels is in his blood – and open himself up to something real, something that he’s never experienced before, like finding his equal?

But then things turn from just being about Nathan acquiring the McBride sisters’ company and about acquiring Keira herself. A very Tempting Acquisition, indeed. Things pretty much are heated and flirty from the very beginning once these two meet in person. Nathan is bold and sure of himself when it comes to women, but he’s never encountered such a woman as Keira McBride in all his bachelor days. And the attraction is mutual for Keira as well, but how can one associate with the enemy and still stay intact after all is said and done? How does one keep business and pleasure separate? That is what Keira wants to know in this story. Nathan claims that his feelings for her on a personal level are completely and totally separate from his business interest in her company. They can keep both parts of their lives separate and still get what they both want without involving the two.

However, “best laid plans” and all that, things just don’t seem to stay as compartmentalized as the should, because Nathan wasn’t just attracted to the physical appearance of Keira, but also by her business sense and attractive mind.

So it takes him – and her – awhile to realise that what they had on a personal level would trickle over in to their professional lives, but the question is: Will Nathan give up all he’s worked for and his reputation for love? Will Keira lose her family’s legacy?

Gah, I cant tell you how much I enjoyed reading this story. I’m a big fan of Addison’s work and once I saw that she’d written something new that I could just sink my teeth into, I was completely sold. Also, she didn’t let me down. Her writing style was on point, the story flowed very well, no weird transitions, and a very intense and sexy story. Her characters weren’t without flaw but I loved them. Nathan Cooper was ruthless, yet appealing, but he wasn’t a bastard.
Keira McBride was a very strong heroine who never backed down even when she felt that her feelings for Nathan were changing into something … more. Something deeper than just the physical. She was a businesswoman who was always on top of her game but didn’t deny herself this chance at a steamy romance with an attractive and sexy man! And who knows, if something more came of it… all the better.

All in all, a very flirtatious, sensual and steamy read that I thoroughly enjoyed and am looking forward to devouring more of! Also, even though the title was a little on the cheesy side, I felt that it was very apropos with the storyline.

I read Tempting Acquisitions because book #2 looked really good, so I thought what better time to read book #1! If anything, this cooled me off about reading #2...

I could not connect with Keira or Nathan, AT ALL! They were incredibly boring together and their feud was overdone. I need some action! Not tap dancing around the same issue.

Where the biggest disappointment was Nathan's background. There was real juice to that! The illegitament child to a mega conglomerate!! Awesome!! Except the book pretty much glanced over that. :/ Damn.

No angst. No drama. Super sticky sweet. So sweet, you might get a cavity... And lame. Much like that joke.

I want to start this review off by saying that this is my first time reading a “grocery store romance” novel. I’ve read plenty of romance. I happen to LOVE paranormal romance but I haven’t read this kind. I tried a Harlequin book once and the people boning in a cave on a shelf made of ice wasn’t hot. I just kept thinking “my ass would be FREEZING!!!” Since then, I have steered clear.

Well, I was contacted by the publisher and asked to consider Tempting Acquisitions for review. I read the synopsis and it actually sounded really good so I decided to give it a shot.

I finished it over a week ago and have been waffling back and forth on what I want to say. I am going to try to explain myself as best I can but I want to start by saying that I rated this book at 3 stars. Now here’s the confusing hot mess of reasoning. I am going to be honest here but please know that I am not tearing this book apart. Just trying to explain why I am having trouble writing this review.

The core story of this book was actually really good. The core story is what kept me turning the pages but….

Yeah, there’s a “but”.

I liked the chemistry between Nathan and Keira but there were a few things that were completely implausible to me. We are instantly endeared to the main character Keira. She’s busted her ass bringing the family business, McBride Media, back to life after her father spent the majority of his career allowing it to simply fall apart. Nathan Cooper swoops in, a corporate pirate, with his sights set on taking McBride Media for a profit. This woman has poured everything she is and everything she has into making this company successful. It is her LIFE. This man comes into the picture to take that away from her and…….she swoons??? Within DAYS, mind you.

Part of what makes romance novels so much fun for the audience is living this big romantic fantasy through the eyes of the characters. As a reader, you get to experience the big romantic gestures and get swept off your feet. You get to fall in love over and over again, one book at a time. Well, Keira got swept off her feet alright. And directly onto her back. She slept with this man right after finding out that he plans to buy and dissect her life’s work. Something she swears she is adamantly against. I did not get the smile that comes with two characters hitting it off and sparks flying and throbbing……stuff. Instead, I wanted to shake the shit out of her! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!?!?! Instead of relating with the character, I could not FATHOM why she was going to pound town with this man. In the Godfather, when they said “go to the mattresses”, they meant go to war with your enemies. Not literally GO TO THE MATTRESSES. It was very frustrating to witness.

Then there’s the sex scenes. They’re really not great. Some of the things that are said during said scenes are just……that would never happen and even in “fantasy”, it was just very out of place.

Now, with all that being said, I want to reiterate that the story itself is a good story. And Nathan and Keira DO have great chemistry. Chemistry that is very convincing when they are not in the bedroom. The heat that’s between them when they’re not allowed to bone was WAY hotter than any of the sex scenes. And honestly, the way their relationship blossoms and the dialog I mentioned in the sex scenes - ALL of it would have been FINE had the book taken place over a longer period of time than…..oh….a week or so. The timeline was just way too short for the events to feel natural. It felt very rushed.

So yes, I am giving it 3 stars because I do believe the core story is good but just go into it knowing that there will be things that will frustrate you.

4 stars.

This review also appears on Pretty Sassy Cool.

Both the cover and the title of this quick, fun read are kind of cheesy, but I really liked this book a lot.

Kiera McBride and her sisters have taken over the family media empire, over the last eight years, have brought it from the brink of [shutting down]. Nathan Cooper is known throughout the business world for taking over floundering companies and dismantling them. He's handsome and charismatic, and excellent at what he does, so when he sets his sights on McBride Media, the sisters are understandably upset. They decide they're not going down without a fight, though.
She took in the sharp planes of his face and the piercing blue of his eyes, evident even in a black-and-white photograph. Ignoring the completely inappropriate rush of attraction, she focused on the task at hand. It was time to prepare her battle plan. She'd worked too hard to save her family's legacy and make it something they were proud of again. There was no way a corporate pirate with a cocky smile was going to take it away from her.

Of course, the attraction to each other that they both feel cannot be denied.
"It's just like I said. It's simple."

Simple? It was anything but. "And what is that supposed to mean?"

"It means there's something between us. Something very good. There's no reason not to act on it. We're healthy, single adults."

"At war with each other."

"One doesn't have to affect the other."

She resisted the urge to gasp, instead channeling the sudden charge of anger to focus her wayward thought. The man might be able to kiss like a pro, but he wasn't about to use it--or her--to railroad her company. "There is no one. Or other, for that matter."

"What's the phrase?" He swirled the wine in his glass, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Make love, not war?"

"Seeing as how I'm not a peace-loving hippie or a woman who goes down without a fight, I don't see how it applies."

"We want each other. That's enough."

And so the story goes, with Nathan convincing Kiera that they are able to keep what happens in the business world out of the bedroom. What they don't count on is that their feelings for each other show up in every aspect of their lives. He respects her, and they want to be together. Even her sisters encourage her to give the relationship a chance.
"...love isn't rational or convenient or practical."

I don't want to spoil the ending, but I will say that I can't wait for more from this author. There are two companion books planned, and I wish I had them yesterday.

I loved Kiera and Nathan, which is something that doesn't usually happen for me. Though I think she fell into bed with him too soon and way too naively, her reluctance to trust him was realistic. She was smart and I liked her character. Nathan? I liked how much Nathan believed things could be black and white--that they could have wild monkey sex one night and the next morning, negotiate the takeover of her company. It didn't hurt that he was hot and was genuinely a good person. I also liked all of the other characters and how quickly the story was paced.

What didn't I like? Though it was the premise of the story, I didn't love the fact that Kiera allowed herself to sleep with Nathan. I just can't see that happening in real life. Waiting until it was all over? Maybe. I also thought the ending was a little too-wrapped-up-in-a-bow. Don't get me wrong, I loved it, but I also don't think it felt real.

All in all, Tempting Acquisitions was a clever, hot, fun read. You want to grab this one, too.

Tempting Acquisitions employs one of my favorite romance paradigms—the enemies who fall in love. I just love stories where two people fight and fight, throwing sharp words and steely glances at each other; but then are inextricably attracted to each and can’t seem to get passed those feelings. The tension builds and builds until it explodes into something fiery and passionate. Best Paradigm Ever.

Keira is a strong-willed, beautiful CEO of a media empire, and Nathan is the gorgeous, cold-hearted man who is determined to take over her company. I really like when the female MC is stubborn and confident, knowing she is both talented and beautiful. I like this in a romance story because it gives the female some power that she can use to twirl the guy around her finger. Keira is that woman, and I really enjoyed watching her confidence as she managed her company and Nathan. However, there were vulnerabilities there that didn’t make her too strong, giving Nathan the chance to swoop in and make her stumble just a bit. This made for some great romance scenes!

Nathan was a type of alpha male—not the type you see in romantic suspense novels where he can take out a guy with one punch, but the kind that sees what he wants and doesn’t let anything get in his way. I enjoyed Nathan’s confidence and bantering, and I really like it when a guy is so “confident” that he just knows he’s going to get the girl (and says so out loud multiple times). It might seem conceited to people, but I just fall for those guys! I like them strong and determined, and Nathan was definitely that!

While I really enjoyed the characters that Addison created, the story itself felt a bit rushed in the romance department. I just felt, with the circumstances the way they were, a girl like Keira wouldn’t just fall straight into bed with a guy like Nathan, no matter how strong the attraction. I think they needed more one-on-one time, meetings, dinners, etc. to cement their relationship and make their feelings more believable. I think the “I love you’s” were really rushed, not that it couldn’t happen that fast, but their personalities just seemed to be so guarded that I don’t think they would let themselves truly fall that quickly.

Overall, I really enjoyed this romance, and I look forward to the companion novels from Addison. It was a quick and fun read, and the romance was steamy without going overboard. I had been in a slump with the last few Entangled books not sitting well with me, but this one brought me out of it!

I'm sorry to say there wasn't much to this story. I found myself at the end, still questioning Nathan's motivations in buying the McBride Media empire. Yes, he's a corporate rader. But that still doesn't explain the motivation when the author makes it seem like there's something behind it. When even his best friend and number two at his company asks him why he's bothering with it.

At the beginning there seemed to be some sort of revenge in play. But when you discover he's never met the McBrides, not any member of the family, then you realize, no revenge happening.

There are two instances where you think Nathan may change his mind. First when Kiera tells him about her father and how he went from being a family man with a good head for business to almost destroying the entire empire and having affiars. You think he could understand the drive by the sisters to rebuild their lives and business to reflect not only what was past but what they could do as well. Also when Nathan tells Kiera about how his mother loved the magazine that put the media empire back in profits and how she would pour over it, you think that this good memory may change his mind. Then his father comes in and pushes his buttons, buttons I'm still unclear of, he changes goes at it full blown. It seems like his father wants him to take over McBride Media, but again... I don't know why.

Nathan's brother Booth comes into the mix, having some sort of relationship with Camryn, but again, never quite sure what the relationship is. Especially when Booth seems to want the women to keep their business. It's just all kind of muddled for me.

I believe their love and Nathan's subsequent marriage proposal happened a little quickly, but I get it under the contraints of the limited pages of the book. I just thought it was fast. Maybe if they had known or met each other in the past. He didn't realize she was of the same McBrides. I don't know, just something that gave them more than a weekend in Vegas and a day at the zoo before declaring love and marriage.

Just not enough there for me. I didn't hate it because it was short and quick, but I would't recommend it.

I liked the simple romance with business verbage thrown in there. Keira and her 2 sisters had to rebuild a company that her father messed up over 2 decades which was started by their grandfather. There is a fella named Nathan who wants to buy out the company but also has an infatuation with Kiera.
It is part of a trilogy and I am excited to start the 2nd one.

Tempting acquisitions iss an excellent contemporary romance. it has all the right elements in just the right amounts to satisfy the cravings of romance lovers like me.

Keira McBride is a very intelligent and independent lady. She and her two sisters have turned their grandfather's fledgning media enterprise, McBride Media, around in record time. This is no thanks to their father who would rather chase skirts than profit. Just as things are looking rosy, Nathan Cooper, corporate raider arrives on the scene with plans to take over McBride Media. What he doesn't anticipate are the fireworks that fly when he sees Keira McBride in action. I loved this part. The author did an awesome job of describing how Nathan was not only supportive of Keira's business acumen but he admired her for her intellect, skill, poise, and drive. Nathan is a man that enjoys seeing his woman perform well in her chosen career and he's not afriad to let her know it. This fuels Keira's desires and opens her heart to him.

Keira and Nathan come together in a series of sizzling hot sex scenes. They have wonderful chemistry, and the author writes of their emotions so vividly that I felt them myself. All of us have our lives shaped whether for better or worse with or without intention by our parents and family histories. The author easily demonstrated how insecurities and errors made by Keira and Nathan were rooted in their attempts to avoid being like their parents. Unfortunatley as is often the case the more you try not to be that person the more you actually act like them. Thankfully Nathan and Keira have siblings that refuse to allow them to lose their chance at love.

Tempting Acquisitions was a quick, easy read with plenty of chemistry and well-written dialogue to keep your interest. I enjoyed reading this book, and I look forward to reading more of her books. I'm betting there will be a book 2 that involves Nathan's brother and Keira's sister.

I was given the chance to read this as an arc from netgalley and really enjoyed it. I've never read a book by Addison Fox before but I'm happy to have found her!

This was book 1 In the boardrooms and Billionaires series, and I was excited by the title alone I love steamy office Romances!

This book is about Keira McBride who is running her family media company with her sisters. The company is so much more then a job to them it's who they are, their heritage.

They have worked incredibly hard in order to restore the company to its former glory after there father almost ran it into the ground. Only to enter Nathan a million dollar suit and the best corporate raider in the business world. The McBride sisters won't go down without a fight, but Kiera really didn't expect sparks to fly and a romance to kindle between her and the man trying to steal her empire.

Nathan is normally all about business but he has his own family issues being the Bastard child to one of the biggest players in the media world has always give him the drive to succeed and be heard in spite of his father.
The McBride company was just another deal until he meets the older sister running the show and the lines between his heart and his business deal becomes blurred.

This story flows really well and gets right into the thick of it right away which I liked. I enjoyed getting to know the dynamic personalities of each of the McBride women and can't wait to find out more. I enjoyed that they where powerhouse business women but didn't lose the femininity.

Nathan and Keira where more alike then they first thought, both harboring daddy issues.
I loved the sexy chemistry their relationship brought they were good for one another, they needed that personal element in their life, both living for their career before.

They are a great match and although they were fighting against each other in the office I loved that they separated that from there personal life and see each others qualities and good points.

This story did have its faults I felt rushed in parts like I needed to slow everything down just a bit. They needed more time to develop the relationship.

Having said that I really liked the characters and can't wait to meet them again in book 2. sometimes we need a little steamy office Romance!

Whenever I see a book title with the word “tempting” in it, I have no choice but to review it on the blog. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the author came by and talked about this book, tempting me even more to try it! (See what I did there?)

This book was right down the middle of enjoyment and problematic for me. I really enjoyed Keira and her sisters determination to revamp their family’s magazine after their father almost bankrupted it. I really enjoyed the intelligence and confidence Keira exhibited throughout the story as she dealt with the takeover attempt, smarmy clients and everyday business matters.

I didn’t, however, enjoy how all the intelligence and confidence flew out the window when she was around Nathan. It didn’t desert her in the wake of a teenage crush. No, the scenes between them seemed to be Nathan running roughshod over her wishes and desires and her letting him! How such a strong willed woman let a man dominate her (and not in a good way) was not something I felt was explained well.

The tension between them was uber-sexy to see, it was true, but it appeared that was all they had in common. Normally it is the quickness of the sex between a couple that I find confusing, but here it was the “in love” part. It happened so quickly with so little emotional intimacy, I found it hard to understand how they were in love with one another when they had done nothing but fight and “make up”.

I was on the fence on how to rate this but I did really enjoy the parts of the story where the sisters worked together and Kick Butt Keira made an appearance. These were the ones I chose to remember instead of the parts where Nathan and helpless Keira made their appearance. I would like to think if this had been novel length instead of category, the story would have shown more of the motivations that made Keira and Nathan act the way they did with each other.

I enjoyed the underlying premise of Tempting Acquisitions. I loved the three sisters, and what they do with the company they take over from their father. I love their spunk and their drive. I like Nathan Cooper. I don't necessarily like what he does for a living, but that comes from not understanding what he does. I do like him as a character though and I liked Kiera as well.

The book fell a little flat for me at first. I just couldn't get that involved in the characters. I didn't see much development at least at first. It seemed the first third of the book was a bit disjointed at least in my opinion, which is just my opinion for what it's worth. But then it seemed to come into it's own, the characters started to finally develop before my eyes. I understood them more, I liked each of them more (though I always liked Kiera). And I started liking the book more. So if you can stick out the first 1/3 or so of the book, I think this book is well worth the read and it's setting up the rest of the series as well.

After the characters started coming to life and I started to understand them, then I could understand the romance and all of the motivations in their life and then as things unfolded more and more things made even more sense. By the end of the book I was in love with Kiera and Nathan and I think there was even a tear in my eye at the ending.

So while the beginning may feel just a little stiff to you I would dare you to keep reading, because I think it's worth the read. As the book and the relationship heat up the storyline smooths out and the characters really start to make sense. And then the real story is good, it then becomes a great romance that makes me look forward to the other two sisters' stories, especially since we have a peek who might be the love interest of one of the sisters.

I won this book from Ms. Fox while she was visiting Heidi Betts blog. I hadn't read anything by her before but think I will be following the adventures of the McBride girls.

The McBride girls are taking back their grandfathers company after their father has nearly ruined it. It is their legacy and their future. That is if they can keep corporate raider Nathan Cooper from a hostile takeover. After meeting the hot pirate Keira McBride has another problem. Nathan might just be the one man she could fall for. Nathan has never let anything get in the way of what he wants. He wants Keira and her company. Can they keep personal and work separate? Is there any way for them to both get what they want and need?

This is a sweet sexy romance. The characters are sharp and interesting and you quickly become invested in their success.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided to me free of charge through NetGalley for the sole purpose of an honest review. All thoughts, comments, and ratings are my own.

Really interesting tale that had my attention the whole time. The pace was wonderful and the characters engaging. Great dynamic in the relationship that made it very believable. Beautiful storytelling that entertained the whole time!

It had really great flow and did the job of making me think at times. I love a book that taps into my emotions. I am a real sucker for a sexy romance!! I laugh, I cry and I wish the hero were real so he could be mine! LOL

I would love to see more from this author! Definitely one to watch in the future.

I received this book from NetGalley and enjoyed the story involving strong women and powerful men.

Three sisters trying to save the company their grandfather's started from Nathan Cooper a very sexy corporate take-over man. Nathan is attracted to Keira the oldest sister. He loves her spunk in business and in the bedroom. Keira is torn about the relationship with a man who is trying to take over her family's legacy. As Nathan is always trying to prove himself to the father who was never there for him, it is his half-brother is the end who teaches him a lesson about love and life.

My only complaint was I wish the story was a little longer - looking forward to the next book in the series.

Addison Fox always delivers a romance that makes you fall in love with the hero and cheer for the heroine. In her latest book, she explores the world of two CEO's who despite being on opposite sides of an attempted take-over, cannot resist the attraction they have for each other. Fox's story lets you see the people behind the titles, their pasts that influence the people they are and the conflict they find when they give into their desires. Often times authors pull the I-love-him/her-but-I-can't-have-him/her-because... card out in a book and then beat the reader over the head with it. NOT FOX. She creates a strong and caring heroine, who deserves a strong and caring hero and discovers the man she's tempted by is just that. If you love HEA's this one's going to give it to you!!

Hook Line and Sinker. This book hooked me in within the first couple of chapters. It was a tad predictable but the sexual tension, inner battles, and the fantastic chemistry that jumped off the page between Keira and Nathan held through the whole story. The only reason this isn't a 4 star book is because the timeline is a bit unrealistic. Other than that, this is a good read which would is a great recovery book from angsty, emotional rollercoaster books. The book was also well written and edited, will definitely be looking out for this author again.

Oooh, from boardroom to bedroom. Fun!
Nice story with likeable characters. And for once the boardroom activity was more interesting than the bedroom, I kinda skipped some of the sexy time hoping for more drama. Not enough for my taste but still nice.
I enjoy their interaction, and even if it's kind of insta-love, at least not just because physical attraction but also other attributes of their personality.
I wish there were more drama with either dads, but maybe because it's a series we'll get the conclusion in later books.

3.5 stars.

Keira and Nathan were a booming couple. It was just inevitable that Nathan would come to terms and realize his approach was all wrong but to have the hatred for his father almkst ruin it was tragic.

Keira was a force to be reckoned with and had a lot on her shoulders. With advice from women whom she admire and trusf to helo sway her way of thinking and encourage her to live her life was just what she needed. You can't always live off the life in which you were raised because you are supposed to learn from it not let it hender your choses.

A fun..easy read. Sometimes a girl just wants to enjoy a good book without having to think to hard and this is one of them. Strong women and stubborn....stupid men always put a smile on my face. Really. The characters were strong and go to show love puts the whammy on all classes and mentality along with turning brains to mush. If your looking for fun..easy..and enjoyable give this book a read :-)

I'm rounding up from 3.5 stars. I truly enjoyed the realistic nature of the business/boardroom portion of this book. I loved the tortured billionaire corporate raider and especially enjoyed how he came to respect Kiera over watching her. However, I hated the ending. Ugh. The package wasn't even wrapped up all the way and we slapped a bow on it? I didn't like that. Other than that, great little read.

I can say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I needed a business themed book for a challenge and this fit to a "T." I really liked how Nathan admired Keira's business sense and thought "she was magnificent". Nice ending.
What held this down for me was I was unsure of Nathan's motivations trying to buy out McBride Media in the first place. There was a hint of revenge in the first chapter and then......nothing.
