159 books559 followersIt’s hard for me to imagine that I’ve been writing romances for over twenty years now! I started at the young age of 21, just after I got married. Reading romances, and then writing them, came about as a result of having too much time on my hands. When I first married my husband Don, I was working a regular nine to five job and he worked swing shift, from four in the afternoon until midnight. It wasn’t an ideal schedule for newlyweds, and in order to pass those hours when I was alone I started reading romances, and eventually tried my hand at writing them.
The road to publication wasn’t an easy one. It took me five years and dozens of rejections to make my first sale, which was to Harlequin for their “Stolen Moments” line. THE FAMILY MAN, written under the pseudonym Danielle Kelly, was one of the twelve novellas published in 1993 for this promotional line.
It took me another two and a half years (and more rejections!) to sell my second book. HEAVEN’S GIFT (written under my own name) was published in October 1995 by Leisure Love Spell for their “An Angel’s Touch” series. Another two years passed of collecting even more rejections before I finally sold to Harlequin Romance and Harlequin Temptation. At the time, writing for both Temptation and Harlequin Romance provided me with a wonderful creative outlet for both my modern, ultra-sexy stories, and my warmer, traditional romances. But as the years passed, I realized how much I enjoyed writing the sexier stories and streamlined my career accordingly so that I was no longer writing the sweet traditional romances, and instead focused on the hotter, sexier stories for Temptation and Blaze.
After writing over two dozen books for Harlequin, I decided to branch out. I wanted to write anthologies and single titles, and came up with an idea about three sexy brothers with the last name of “Wilde”. Little did I know that those Wilde brothers would become such a sensation with readers. In the second Wilde book, WILDE THING, four Wilde cousins were introduced, and readers started writing in for their stories, too. It’s been a joy and pleasure to write each of the Wilde stories, and I want to thank everyone for purchasing those books and putting them on the USA Today Bestseller list!
I’ve been a full-time writer for years, which consists of being deep in deadlines, writing proposals (growling at the husband to fix a glitch in the computer so I can get back to work!), perusing contracts, line-edits (stressing over a scene that won’t work or characters that just won’t talk or cooperate with my plans for them!), galleys, art-fact sheets, promotion, and other publishing paperwork. Admittedly, I wouldn’t trade all the craziness in for pantyhose, rush hour traffic, and a nine-to-five job again. Writing is hard work, but I find the rewards are well worth the effort. Fan letters are one of those priceless rewards, and can keep me on a high for days! I’ve met the most wonderful people through my books, some of which I now consider good friends.

The Premise
Wild child Mia Wilde is being stalked by someone with a lack of appreciation for the sexually confident woman, which drives her right to Cameron Sinclair, the PI partner of her cousin Steve. Cameron’s a bit stuffy, and Mia’s not shy. They’ve been dancing around their attraction for a while, but can they find some common ground while stopping the person who’s trying to slut-shame her?
The Good
Not gonna lie, got it as a freebie on amazon, and I liked the cover so I decided to read it. There’s good chemistry between Mia and Cameron and the sex scenes have a good amount of heat (fairly straightforward sex, so no kink or domination). Cameron’s a decent beta hero who realizes as he gets to know Mia, that she may be wild but she’s trying to protect her heart.
Their first time together is refreshingly imperfect, and made their eventual lovemaking later on more realistic. Also, they do not exist in a vacuum and Cameron actually works throughout the story - another realistic touch.
I didn’t know at the time I read this that it was the third in this series, but there was enough backstory given that I wasn’t lost. A HEA with no cliffhangers, always a plus.
The Not So Good
The slut shaming actually works
There’s a bit of wordiness to it all, especially at the end of the story. It felt rushed to “fix” Mia so she could get to her HEA for Cameron, which made the explanation given for Mia’s stunted emotional growth fell flat for me. Actually, there’s alot of explaining of Mia’s feelings, instead of letting scenes play out in a more natural, emotional way which kept me at a distance from her.
The secondary plot involving Mia’s roommate’s abusive boyfriend is resolved quickly with little fanfare.
The Bottom Line
A decent read, even with a bit too much “explaining” of the heroine’s feelings than showing. Still, for a freebie, it wasn’t bad.

I remember the dark period in my life where teenage novels were not sophisticated enough to hold my budding reader mind, but that the school refused to accept that authors such as Lori Foster and Sharon Sala were acceptable for an 11/12 year old.
My mother became like a dealer to me, feeding my habits by allowing me to read these books at home instead, but still packing me off with Goosebumps for my school teachers. The books she gave me were not only 'adult' but erotic adult too. Saucy!
Janelle Denison was one of the first authors that I remember reading at this age, only now, I can't remember whether I looked back on them with rose-tinted glasses because they were better written or because they came during this period in my reader life where anything was better than Point Horrors and Sisterhood of Travelling Pants.
Note: Nothing wrong with either of these, I love them both dearly, but I grew out of them alongside my roller skates and pig-tails. Okay, I will never grow out of roller skates. But definitely the pig-tails.
Then I found a Janelle Denison novel. I was thrilled! Nostalgic and genuinely looking forward to reading it. But I actually really struggled with this novel for a few reasons.
Firstly, there was literally nothing happening. Cam and Mia were a dead cert. It's a romance, of course they were going to get together. So we didn't really have any tension there, just the expectation of how they would get to it. Turns out, in the longest, slowest way possible...
The sub-plot was the slanderous photographs being sent to Mia, which were also the driving motivation for our hero and heroine to lean on each other. This plot line was supposed to add a dimension of tension (Review rhyme!) but the culprit was so bloody obvious that it actually annoyed me. It annoyed me that so little effort had been given to making that story more dramatic and less blatant.
Secondly, I found the writing style incredibly clunky, cliche and awkward to read. In fact, I actually cringed at times, and this aspect really took away further enjoyment. If the writing style is a bit off, then at least you can ignore it if the plot is amazing. But this was just a full no-go.
One of the biggest irritants was that everyone kept calling Mia's stained glass - "Stained glass designs." "Stained Glass art" etc. Half the novel had been building up Mia and her art and her dedication to it. If Denison had started to refer to it as "art" or "glass" or even "stained glass" then I am more than capable of understanding the reference. I didn't need "Stained glass design" in every sentence to make me aware that Mia made stained glass.
I did think that the saving grace was the phenomenal chemistry between Cameron and Mia. But even then, I grew bored of their sexual conquests. At one point I was reading about her "kissing him rather intimately" in a car and I was like, Jeez, get on with it, I AM BORED.
This from the girl who has read FSoG twice!
Overall I just found it incredibly hard going and clunky. Given the length of the novel, I felt that it could have been over at the half-way point because everything there after was like jogging up a hill made of jelly. In Roller Skates. Serious lack of progression, depth and tension.

Cameron is well a little high tense, "the frown creasing his brows deepened into a scowl. "Watching you parade half-naked in a bar full of randy men isn't exactly my idea of fun." I mean Mia and Cameron have so much chemistry, "they didn't care that his hands were on Mia's a**, and they couldn't see the slow, provocative way she arched and rubbed against his erection, again and again." And he knows how to take a stand, "he stepped to the side, trapping her against the side of the house. Before she could bolt again, he flattened his palms on either side of her shoulder, keeping her within the confines of his arms. "Dammit, quit running from me," he growled furiously. "From us." This book was such a wild ride to read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

This was on my TBR shelf for sooo long - years even - I started reading it once before but couldn't get past the first chapter. This time around I maintained and read the whole book, and I'm pretty glad I did. It turned out to be interesting and one I really enjoyed. I ended up finishing it in a day and just couldn't put it down. I loved the sexual tension between the two characters, and the suspense of finding out who was really "harassing/stalking" Mia. All in all I'm very happy I attempted this book again and upon enjoying to so much I will read some of the other WILDE's stories!

He wants someone who isn't wild, and who is easy to manage. Mia is none of those things. But when she winds up in a bit of trouble, the first person she goes to is Cameron for help.
Cameron has been fighting off his attraction to Mia for the last few years, now though with her in trouble all of his reasons for avoiding her seem to be going out the window.
And when things just get more tense, he and Mia's relationship seems to become more confusing as well.
This book had a very interesting plot line, with lots of sexy times as well! The characters have chemistry off the charts, and it seemed so real while reading this book. The author did an amazing job with it. And I really enjoyed this one. I look forward to reading more in this series as well now!
If your looking for something sexy, fun, with lots of intrigue and tiny bit of suspense this is the book for you!

It's no secret, Mia is a wild and crazy partier. Her reputation isn't fabricated, because she will do about anything when she's out at the bar, intoxicated or not. She knows Cameron doesn't approve because he has a thing for her, but she flirts with danger by continuing her wild ways.
Despite her reputation, Cameron can't shake his feelings for Mia. It only increases when Mia comes to Cameron for help when she becomes a victim of a very personal attack. Photos of Mia during her crazy partying are leaked to her, and she goes to Cameron, as he is a private investigator.
Is Cameron able to tame the wild girl and open her eyes to the damage she's done to her reputation? I thought this book wasn't half bad, it had a descent storyline and was easy to read in a sitting. I would rate it at a 4/5.

Normally I can remember virtually every book I've ever read. But once in a while one will escape my brain. Usually that's because it was boring but that's not always the case.
Apparently I read this out of order. It's the only one in this series I have read but I do own the 1st book and a few others in this series. So, if I didn't like it I wouldn't have gone through the trouble of getting others in this series.
All this means I'm going to have to do a reread. I hate having to reread.
However, this time I will read them in order.

I LOVED THIS BOOK MIA IS THE YOUNGEST WILDE FAMILY MEMBER, IT FOLLOWS HER ROMANCE WITH CAMERON SINCLAIR AND HER BECOMING MATURE IN HER FEELINGS AND ACTIONS. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL LOVE STORY AND HOT, STEAMY, HIGHLY EROTIC READ. HOT ALPHA MALE WHO HAS HIS WORK CUT OUT FOR HIM GETTING MIA TO AGREE TO HER FEELINGS IS NOT GOING TO BE EASY. She needed to grow up and own up to her feelings.
Thank god for Cameron. He saved the book. He understood his feelings and went about putting his plans in motion.

If you like scorching hot romance, you'll love this book!
I had typical expectations before I read this story, but when I opened it...it surpassed my expectations real high! The scorching hot romance between Cameron and Mia is a must read for daring romance lovers!

I would have given this a 4 star, but because the author could keep up with who was who, I couldn't do it. It's confusing to a reader when the author makes mistakes like that.

Ahhh. Mia and Cameron's story. I have pretty much hated Mia from afar for the past however many stories because she's so brash and confrontational. She keeps provoking Cameron just to get a rise out of him to prove that he's attracted and she can make him lose control. Not my kind of heroine. So I was very nervous about reading this one and fearing that I would hate her throughout. But Mia gets a personality transplant pretty early on here, so I didn't dislike her all that much at all. She goes to Cameron because someone is sending her photos of her flirting with guys and grafitti-ing them with words like "slut" and "tramp." Mia kind of internalizes this message/slut shaming and it works as the sender intends it. Mia becomes conscious of the persona shes' conveying and tones it back down so she's not a "slut." So instead of the wild, feisty and provocative Mia, we get an adventurous, sultry and responsible one. She and Cameron agree to have a no-strings affair while he's investigating her case and the two fall in love...except Mia still has some self-esteem issues about who she is, so she doesn't think she'd be good in a relationship and that things would go bad and she'd be heartbroken. Their times together are pretty sexy and I liked them as a couple. This author really does seem to do heroes that fall first, which is kind of a theme I'm loving right now, and Cameron is no exception here.
The villain in this story was pretty obvious and it sucks that Mia is basically slut-shamed, but at the same time, I think she needed a wake-up call to maturity. So I'm kind of ambivalent about the method. I find it interesting that Cameron was so politic about his own perceptions about Mia initially - that he figured she was a promiscuous party girl (because that's the image she conveyed) until he realized there was way more going on underneath. It was nice to see Mia being so dynamic and really growing into herself and I liked that Cameron was so quick to find the value in her. This is a story of a respectful, conservative professional P.I., Cameron, that falls for his friend's sister & business partner's cousin. What makes this story different from others with this plot, is the little sister/cousin, Mia, isn't a sweet naive girl longing after her brothers/cousin's friend to make sweet love to her. Mia is a very sexy lady that likes to party and have fun. Her usual type isn't a man like Cameron, as he is the type of guy your parents hope you bring home. Even though Cameron knows Mia isn't his type, he has to admit for years he has thought about "throwing caution to the wind" to live out his fantasy of a wild night with the very seductive Mia Wilde. Well one night his fantasy comes true, except it isn't quite what he imagined, as their first time together is really fast and uneventful for Mia. (Which as a reader, I found refreshing, as most first times with a new lover, isn't all "fireworks", like most books make you think.) These two realize the mistake they made and go on living their separate lives, with occasionally running into each other until Mia reaches out to Cameron on a professional level after she receives harassing notes. As Mia and Cameron spend more time together they develop a bond despite their differences, and with that comes the "Fireworks" between the sheets for these two mismatched lovers. Heck, who would of thought Cameron had it in him to shutter the bathroom cabinets during a baby's first birthday party!
What I liked about this book was the realistic characters that actually worked for a living and their loving families. I was especially touched by the scenes with Mia's stepmother and enjoyed the dinner at Cameron's parent's house. The insight into Mia's past was much more the central plot, and the stalking and harassment case is a sub-plot. Actually, this book has a second sub-plot, involving the abusive boyfriend of Mia's room-mate. Over-all Rating 3.75 because Mia and Cameron didn't need to keep explaining, expressing, and/or thinking about the reasons they shouldn't be together over and over again. Didn't they ever hear that Opposites Attract?
What I liked about this book was the realistic characters that actually worked for a living and their loving families. I was especially touched by the scenes with Mia's stepmother and enjoyed the dinner at Cameron's parent's house. The insight into Mia's past was much more the central plot, and the stalking and harassment case is a sub-plot. Actually, this book has a second sub-plot, involving the abusive boyfriend of Mia's room-mate. Over-all Rating 3.75 because Mia and Cameron didn't need to keep explaining, expressing, and/or thinking about the reasons they shouldn't be together over and over again. Didn't they ever hear that Opposites Attract?

A bit of a romantic suspense / protector romance, this VERY steamy tale had me hooked from the start. I love Cameron (swoon) 😍 and was glad to see Mia develop more maturity and awareness of her actions without actually changing who she is inside

Pretty decent light read--there were plenty of sex scenes and they were pretty sexy. Not many obnoxious euphemisms for organs, and there's a variety of locations/positions to keep things interesting.
Some of the peripheral dialogue was very cheesy, but I felt that there were some good qualities to the overall story (she does stained glass art, he's a PI and she's getting the stalker-y pictures, also an abusive boyfriend to the side character) that were well balanced to keep things moving.
This was an ebook I found for free and didn't realize was part of a series. Was an enjoyable romance read, so I may check out the others in the series.

by seasoned author Janelle Denison was a really enjoyable book to read! What I thought was going to be just a 'super sexed-up' bit of fluff, was sexy, fun, but also tackled sensitively, some incredibly serious topics. A blend well done.
Intelligent and dedicated PI, Cameron Sinclair, was the devastatingly gorgeous specimen of man, who was not only thoughtful, kind and HOT, but was overly generous in his sexual ministrations, which only added to his allure. For years he had endeavoured to remain impassive to the provocative sexual taunting and teasing from saucy Mia Wilde, but when she increased the pressure - what was the man to do?
Despite Mia's previously successful attempts to cocoon herself behind her facade of brazen seductress and reckless party girl, Cam caught glimpses of her vulnerable, guarded heart, and was moved. She was a woman emotionally isolated, determined to be independent and remain free from hurt. A woman intensely passionate, fiercely loyal, scarred, yet wickedly delightful. A woman he could fall for.
Mia had wanted Cam for years. She'd known he was meticulous, hardworking and assiduous in his commitment to his work, but the intensity of his passion, when unleashed on her, was breathtaking. She was determined to keep her heart protected, a task becoming more impossible, especially when he delved deeper to uncover the real her, and actively promote her dearest passions. But Mia had a lot of work to do to be able to accept the love of another, and despite Cam's earnest patience, would he wait long enough?
Janelle Denison cleverly weaved two separate and intriguing mysteries into this passionate love story. I'm certain they were written with intentional predictability, but were none-the-less rousing, especially with the extra twists and turns thrown in. Both were balanced well, with the book moving at an excellent and engrossing pace. The sexual chemistry was scorching, yet also tender. Sad and poignant moments brought tears to my eyes, and masterful strokes of humor and sass interspersed, eased tension successfully. This author writes well. (I am so going to continue in the series!!!)
Despite a few surprising editing errors (incorrect female character in some scenes, tense and spelling discrepancies), the book flowed well.

SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD.
While reading this book, I have to admit that I was entertained. There were some things that frustrated me, but I liked the characters and the story line. I wanted to see how they worked toward their happily ever after.
After finishing, I looked back on the things that had really frustrated me, and honestly, they made me like the overall book a whole lot less than I had originally thought.
The first thing that bugged me was when Mia and her roommate blame another friend's bitchiness entirely on PMS, which is a but ridiculous. Even if she was PMSing, it might make her more emotional, but there would still have to be something that caused the emotion initially. Also, most women I know would want to smack a guy if they used that as a reason they were throwing a fit. If women aren't willing to take that kind of comment from a man, why should they take it from other women?
The second thing that really bothered me was that Cameron specifically told Mia in the beginning that he only wanted a sexual relationship with her because he felt they didn't suit each other for a more serious relationship. Halfway through the book, he changes his mind and decides he wants to spend his life with her. Instead of sharing these thoughts and feelings with her, he expects her to be a mind reader and to automatically know that what he wants from her has changed. He claims he has to give her time to come around to the type of relationship he wants, but without informing her that what he wants has changed, how does he expect her to "come around"?
Mia, on the other hand, knows she has deeper feelings for Cameron, but buries them in order to keep things between them physical, as he claimed he wanted them. She's (rightly) surprised and disbelieving when he tells her he loves her and wants to be with her. Last she knew, he felt they "weren't a good match outside the bedroom", and that she was "all wrong for him in so many ways."
There were so many times when I just wanted to grab these two (but especially Cameron) and shake some sense into them.
If you can turn off the part of your brain that demands self respect, then this will be a great read for you. If not, you might still be entertained, but it will probably leave you with a niggling sense of annoyance and disgust.
